Powerslave

went to this show last night, and it was absolutely brilliant. it was my first time seeing both bands, and they both blew me away.
the first band on the bill was Forever Slave, a fairly typical girl fronted metal band in the style of Within Temptation, and were pretty forgetable.
Firewind were next, and before last night, i'd never really considered them anything more that just an average power metal band, but their 9 song set impressed me. it was very powerful and heavy, combining old songs with some off their new album, which is out this week. i shall definitely be revisiting their back catalogue.
A masked woman with a violin heralded the start of Kamelot's set, Solitaire leading into Rule the World. it has to be said that the sound at the start was terrible, far too much bass, not enough guitar, keys or vocals, but they were sorted out after a couple of songs. the set was pretty much as expected, a mix of classic songs with half a dozen songs off Ghost Opera. it was definitely the best of the shows i've been to so far this year, i haven't been able to get the songs out of my head all day.
full setlist:
Solitaire
Rule the World
When the Lights Are Down
Soul Society
Pendulous Fall
Centre of the Universe
Abandoned
Descent of the Archangel
Instumental Jam (w/ drum solo)
The Human Stain
The Haunting
