In a move that has surprised many, Randy Couture, backed by a company calling itself, "Viper's Pledge" has bought the Ultimate Fighting Championship from Zuffa. "This is certainly not what anybody expected", dana White told reporters this morning, "But business is business and they made us an offer that we couldn't refuse". When asked if the company would take a different direction, Couture stated that the Pay-Per-View fights that have been scheduled into the fall "...will go on as planned". Couture did tell a source that they could expect a return to the days of the one night tournaments. "The focus should not be entirely on entertainent. Certainly that is one aspect, but mixed martial arts should be about just that. It's time to get back to our roots"
