Do you want any specific team(like fire,rock,electric...),or just a suggestions of any pokemons with any type?Anyway,in both ways you need to tell us what pokemons you like, what you dislike, what types, examples and stuff like that.

Also, would this team be for Competitive battling or just finishing the game?

Well,a great balanced team in the game is to have all starters on 3rd evolution, ofcourse they got to be propered Nature and EVd.That would be 3 pokemons + your Tyranitar which is also not a bad pokemon as it seems you take good care of it,is it EVd?
Also, the best level, chosed by most of the people is 62-63-64 to beat the game, but you could easily work with 55 levels, but they got to be EVd.

Hmm..I am not really sure what EV'd is
Comrade

no they don't. i beat the E4 with a team of lv.50s. you need good coverage and no major weaknesses.

SO what are EV's i dont really understand them
Comrade

EV = Effort Value.
basically, they are points that you gain from killing other pokemon, they boost certain stats. the pokemon you defeat determines the amount of gain and the stat in which it is gained. it's all in the topic marke read this or you'll be dynamic punched at the top of the forum.

gDOn't understand EVs?Here are 2 guides for EVs here (http://www.psypokes.com/lab/evguide.php) or here (http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=26953)
They both contain information that the other one doest have,so i sugges you read both.

Don't forget about the "Read before you post or you will be Dynamic Punched" thred, which I believe has a bit of info on EV's as well.

Well,by me Quilava would be the best starter of 2. gen,but my choice would be feraligator not becuase he's stronger, because its cooler to me.
Well,to have a good team, you got to have a wall, which could be Tyranitar, but save him for a better role.I don't understand Wall Pokemons very much so ask other guys to help you about that.I just know that Venosaur and torterra are one of teh best walls 'coz they have massive HP if EVd.
Good Figting type wouldn't be bad as well as an Uber or a legendary.
You could also try one of Eevee evolutions if someone traded an Eevee to you because you can't get Eevee before National pokedex.

Do you think umbreon would be a good pokemon to use it could be use as one of those pokemon to cause status problems

Im sorry but please dont listen to Mastertoshima. Looking at his posts he has no idea about competitive battling.
Venusaur and Torterra are by far not the best walls out there.
If you want to use t-tar i would suggest a sand storm team. You could start with Hippowdon to get a sandstorm going, and as a physical wall. You also might want garchomp as a sweep, because of sandvail.

hmmmm you make a god point $uper$imon but wont all my pokemon have the same weaknesses?
Comrade
March 23rd, 2008, 05:27 PM
yes, most teams have a consistent weakness. i feel it's better to be weak to one type alot, than be partially weak to all types. but that jyust my opinion.

Really, you should have coverage so you aren't weak to any types. For example, if you have a couple of Ice/Rock pokemon, use Magnezone for Steel types, and then Zapdos or something for Fighting types. Stuff like that. Having a huge weakness to one type, especially a common one, is extremely bad.

I would aslo suggest mamoswine for a sandstorm team. He can take hits like a champ and gives them even harder.
