Black Mountain

Has anyone ever heard of Black Mountain? They were on Conan last week and really intrigued me. I looked into them a bit and am really digging their stuff. Its a bit tough to describe them but they have a southern rock feel to them but they are definitely modern. My favorite song right now is "Stay Free" which was on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack. I was going to mention them in the 08 album thread since their newest came out this year but it was closed. Anyway, I recommend the band and if you've heard of them, let me know what you think.

They are a decent modern psychedelic band. I would only recommend them as an intro to the rest of the genre, though. Their new album is way, waaaay better than their debut, but that doesn't stop me from just finding them "ok."

Some awesome related psych bands to check out are Comets on Fire and Mammatus, both of which I find infinitely superior to Black Mountain. I also hear Dead Meadow are good, but i've only heard their latest album "Old Growth" which is from what I hear not very good at all compared to their earlier material.
