I've discovered The Strokes around the first week of December (I didn't know they were on Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock beforehand), and I thought that their first album, Is This It, was an okay album. Keep in mind that I just randomly decided to buy their album just for some nice background music to do my homework. Unfortunately, I've only listened to the album 2-3 times. There are some catchy stuff, until I've really dug deep into their first album once again just two weeks ago. MAN ARE THEY AWESOME! I can't believe that one month went by without me truly noticing the raw music of The Strokes' first album. The same thing happened to me with Appetite for Destruction. I bought the CD around July 2006, and I haven't "fully" heard it until two months ago. It's such a kickass album with loads of cowbell!
So back to The Strokes. For the past two weeks, I've listened to the album Is This It so many times that my iTunes registers the song New York City Cops along with others around the 90-100 play count mark. That's pretty intense love for a band out there. I've also given the other albums, Room On Fire (includes the Guitar Hero 3 song everyone knows, Reptilia), and First Impressions of Earth. I haven't heard everything in Room On Fire, but it sounds like The Strokes drifted away from their signature style in Is This It, but is way evident that they completely changed in First Impressions of Earth. I kinda like the song Juicebox in First Impressions of Earth, but it's weird contrasting it to the first album I loved. Room On Fire has some of The Strokes I know from Is This It, but it's kind of refreshing too. Ultimately, The Strokes first album Is This It will always be the best album for me from them.
Anyways, I just wanted to know if there are other GW members out there that also like The Strokes. Any takers? ;)
