How should I prepare myself for this?

Bomb my ears out with loud music?
Because I have no intentions of wearing earplugs.

How else should I prepare myself?

I saw them back in 2002 (on the More Than You Think You Are tour) and they were phenomenal. They played every song from that album, plus all the significant radio hits. I'm seeing them again in February and I can't wait.

As for your ears, I think they'll be fine. :) Let us know how the show goes.

Well I'm not sure about that type of concert, but my brother (who goes to concerts almost weekly) wears them at every concert and I've worn them at the few concerts I've been to (except Warped Tour, but that was outside) and I don't know how anybody could survive without ear plugs. I can make it through the opening band without ear plugs, but that's it.

I know every Matchbox Twenty song (even songs that they did in their other band) so anything they play will be awesome.

I will let everyone know how it goes,
Austin.

Your ears aren't like muscles, 'bombing' them with loud music isn't going to make them tolerate loud concerts any better...if anything; just the opposite.

Ok, so I haven't been bombing them, but I have been listening to their CD's alot te past few days.

Goddang I can NOT wait!

Austin. You're already prepared because you are so pumped up for the show! I wouldn't bomb my ears, you wanna be able to hear at the show! I see some other people say you should wear earplugs. That is a good idea, although I've never used them at the dozens of shows I've been to. The first show I went to, my ears were ringing 2-3 days after the show was over. Nowadays, they ring only after the show is over, maybe overnight or rarely into the next morning. Although when I saw Black Sabbath a few years back, it was another 2-3 days. Those guys play LOUD! And yeah, have fun and be sure to keep us all posted!

If you get to read this before you go, I would really highly suggest wearing ear plugs.

Also, enjoy yourself, concerts are awesome.

It was sooo awesome, we had floor good floor seats, but not a bad seat in the house!

Did they play Could I Be You?!

Austin.
January 31st, 2008, 05:07 PM
No they did not. They played about everything but that.

They did two hours of nonstop music!

The guitar player broke a string and his tech guy wasnt there to grab the guitar and hand him another so the guitar player threw his guitar HARD off the stage!

The night before in Atlanta the lighting rig broke and crashed and fell on stage! Rob said the correct termonology was that they took a "****" on us.

I predict you will look back on your first concert experience with nothing but regret.

You speak from personal experience I take it.

I'd say even if Austin isn't a fan in X years, he'll remember the great time he had. I know enough old boy band fans who will admit they had fun at a concert, but aren't still fans of the same group(s).

I take it that he's probably wondering why he didn't go and see a better band.

A better band in his opinion, anyway.

Austin.

You know Matchbox Twenty is a top fourty-band.

Dan
February 2nd, 2008, 09:44 AM
You know that charts these days mean absolutely nothing at all?

Austin.
February 2nd, 2008, 09:48 AM
Sure they do. They aren't some knockoff BS band. They are good enough to be up there in the charts.

Spiner202
February 2nd, 2008, 09:52 AM
I think he means that popularity does not mean skill, or at least good bands in his opinion, which I agree with because seriously, how many bands in the top 40 are any good?

I can't even tell you which bands are there.

Austin.
February 2nd, 2008, 10:11 AM
Well anyway the show was awesome and I will remember it forever. We recorded alot of the show with a digital camera. We had awesome seats and the sound wasn't blaring but you could really hear it.
Haha, it would have sucked to have went to the ATL show. The friggin lighting rig crashed.

MB20 is no "pop" band like you're trying to define it. They got hugely popular making the music that they wanted to make. Listen to them talk about songwriting and performing for thirty seconds and you'll see how genuine and passionate they are about it.

Plus, Paul Doucette (drums) and Kyle Cook (guitar) are phenomenal at what they do.

Dang, [img] code is off.
I wanna post pics.

Pardon my POS camera. I will put pics up later.
Its not even funny how close we were.

Dan

I never saud that Matchbox 20 weren't good, I was simply saying that the charts for songs and albums really have no meaning what so ever. They're all pretty much based on popularity rather than musicmanship.

You speak from personal experience I take it.Definitely. I was a nu-metal-head back in the day, and I went to some really, really horrible shows.

Austin.
February 4th, 2008, 08:12 AM
That was my first concert, I am hoping to go to a metal show sometime. I would want to go to a metal show for the experience.

I wish Kiss would tour again :(

Sorry for the DP, but it turns out that we are going again to the Norfolk or fairfax show on the 10th

Awesome, I think first concerts are such a good memory and luckily you enjoyed it and get to see them again. That's always a pleasant surprise. I'd never see M20 in concert but they're not a bad listen to me and I'm sure they put on a good show.

Is there any way I can post a audio link?

I have the whole show from Charlotte on the live USB wristband.
How far we've come is awesome.
Starts out with some old school Johnny Cash with an astronout walking on the moon then he sits down in the chair and says "Hello Hello Hello" as it does in the song.
Long story short, we changed our mind on the VA show. Oh well.
