I'm not sure if this has been done before, but what the hell.

What is your favorite and least favorite items from both games?

My favorites:

Bumper from the first game- There's a reason why it's coming back in Brawl. It's a fun weapon to through around.
Freezie- Rare items with cool and useful effects.
Warp Star- Nothing is more satisfyingly than disappearing into the sky and crashing down while everyone in your wake is sent flying.
Green Shell- Another weapon that's fun to chuck at people.
Bob-omb- Explosions are cool.
Mr. Saturn- Rare item that's just fun to play around with... no matter how ineffective it may be.
Pokeball- Random distruction and chaos.
Barrel Cannon- The rarest of all items. It's funny to finally see one, grab it before it disappears (which is pretty quick), toss it at an enemy, and watch as it shoots him or her down into the Abyss!

Least Favorites:

All health items- Besides the AI always wanting to horde them, they can create an unfair advantage for those already in the lead or allow someone undeserving to come back.
Lip's Stick- It's kinda lame and not fun to use.
Cloaking Device- Being invisible isn't really useful when the AI knows where you are anyways. Being invisible to yourself doesn't help either.
Ray Gun- I found it to be highly ineffective. Plus you can't run around and shoot at the same time. Shooting requires you to stop and shoot.
Fire Flower (both games but especially from the first on)- Evil little weapon. If you get caught in it's wake there's nothing you can do until it pushes you away. (N64). Another weapon that would be more fun if you could run around with it lit.

I really don't have a fav/ least fav but I'll try and make a list.

Favorites: Bumper, Barral Cannon (it's fun to jump into and then shoot yourself out), red shell (go to Final destination with high items all red shell with NO fox/falco), motion senser bombs, and Mr. Saturn ( just fun to watch walk through the fight.

Least favorites: Food, Poison Mushroom, Hammer (to cheap unless they're coming at you and your Peach), and star (makes it impossible to stand a chance on a good opponent).

just so you know the cloaking device isn't just for invisibility, it makes the character take no damage at the same time

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. That's another reason it sucks. Invisible, invincible AI sucks, and it's still not much help to you if you yourself can see yourself.

the standing still and shooting problems been fixed though :)
so be happy!

well, it doesn't make people invincible, and it's still easy to see them, the cloak blinks a little everytime they attack.

yeah, and if your playing multiplayer it'll usually have P1 over the top of you

I'm conna comment on your least favorite ones so I can disagree :).

With Lip's Stick, it's one of very few items that can break through any defense (including mario's cape and the starfox shines) and since those items are so rare a quick throw of them could completely catch a good falco or mario off guard (being a cape-loving mario, I can attest to that).

Cloaking Device - You also don't take damage while you have it, definitly a plus, you can still me smashed off stage but no % increase.

Ray Gun - if used at the right time with good aim, some characters can't get out of hte way fast enoguh.

Fire Flower - Try jumping towards someone (or short hopping) while using it, it can help you push people away which is almost as good as moving with it.

Really, my favorite item is the metroid spin ball, i'm good at fast-falling and short hopping so it can build up a lot of damage before I finally lose it.

fire flower should definitely give the player a fireball attack, the effect it has now is so bad. it can't juggle, it pushes away after about 3%, and isn't really good for edging because it takes away the helpless fall

best item? bob-ombs lmao, they're just so tense and fun. Pokeballs are always fun too.

worst item? Flipper, the bumper in ssb 64 was soooo much better.

Uh, how is it that I knock out cloaked players if they take no damage? Just wondering.

I turn off a lot of the Items. The sword weapons mostly blow and mess up your tilts, the Star makes you invincible, the Hammer turns the game into "stall out your opponent for 15 seconds", and stuff. I like to keep most of them on for casual play though, just not the Star.

The Pokéballs have always been the coolest item.

worst: Mr. Saturn and Starman
Best Beam Sword and Bomber

You can still kill people, they just don't gain % damage. (also laughs at your name :)).

The only weakness to the cloaking device is to the Ice Climbers when the wrong one grabs the cloaking device instead of the one you actually control.

I hate Poison Mushrooms, Bob-ombs, Mr. Saturns, Cloaking Devices, and Fans.

My favorite is the Lightsaber (or Beam Sword to avoid being sued by LucasArts).

Favorite Item(s): Pokeball, Green Turtle Shell, Beam Sword

Least Favorite Item(s): Fans [I liked it in 64 but not Melee for some reason], Red Turtle Shell, Hammer

Personally, I never use items but they're fun to use once in awhile. [The only other time I use items is when I try to practice Ledge Teching]

My favorite is easily the Home Run Bat.
