Action Replay DS Connection Problems

I am trying to connect my action replay DS [v1.52] to my computer via USB cable. Windows found the device and installed drivers for it via the AR computer disc, but the Action Replay code manager itself can't find the device. It says that it's not connected. I updated ARCM to the latest version, but that didn't do anything. What can I do to get ARCM to recognize my Action Replay DS? One last note, there is no game inserted in the AR card slot; I don't think it's necessary. Thank you to anyone who's willing to help.

I think you need to keep the ARDS in the card slot, otherwise it won't work. What I did do is just set the DS down and it worked just fine for me. :)
