Im an exotic guy. I like eating weird stuff. . .

Normal weird/exotic stuff
1. Frog (Anywhere asian)
2. Eel (Sushi restaurants)
3. Abalone (sushi places)
4. Ostrich egg (Get at farms near the san diego zoo area)
5. Urchin (been a long time since ive eaten)
6. Octopus (asian supermarket)
7. Raw beef tartare with vodka. (made it myself. DO NOT ATTEMPT YOURSELF. I didnt get sick but its dangerous.)

Disgusting wierd
1. jellyfish (Comes in a packet in this one Vietnamese store)
2. The genitalia of animals. (i hope its appropriate but it relates to the topic)
3. dinuguan (Pork blood or chicken blood stew - Filipino recipe)

Surprisingly weird
1. Spider crab. Not really exotic but It looks really really weird. (this one asian market)
2. Dog. Forgotten what it tastes like. I was a little kid. Only recently i found out i ate it. (Philippines)
3. Lizards and amphibians (Philippines)

Planning to eat
1. Frog sashimi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOUnjB6SPxE) and its heart. (Cant find live frog).
2. Beating cod's heart (you have to go ocean fishing)
3. geoduck (SO EXPENSIVE) 10.95 a FRICKEN POUND.
4. Horse sashimi (dont know where to get it)
5.Chicken sashimi (its so expenisve. i think its 40 dollars for a chicken breast. They have to specially prepare it in liquid nitrogen i think).

Planning not to eat
1. Blowfish sashimi. Too expensive and ive heard that its not really tasty. And hell if im going to purposefully going to eat poison. Sometimes they leave it in on purpose.

What about you guys? Cause I really want to try some exotic foods. . .

I'm not a big daredevil with food. The only things I've eaten that I consider "odd" (or at least out of normal for me), probably aren't that strange to others. Alligator, escargot (snails), barbecued goat, and frog leg's are as "different" as I've gotten - and in some cultures, they aren't that odd at all.

What else....goddang.
I can't think of anything.

The weirdest thing I've eaten is ostrich meat, it tasted like a mix of chicken and beef to me, it was at a Chinese restaurant.

Ive always wanted to try an american snake. . . How does it taste?

How does alligator taste? And Frogs taste like chicken. That surprised me the most. It was juicier than chicken though. And barbecued goat is awesome. Shishkabob.

I can't think of anything.

Asian markets have plenty of weird stuff. Or go to a sushi place.

But the best place is your back yard. Catch a opossum in your back yard and grill it. They usually get trapped in our rat traps. . . But they eat trash .. . You could also try and eat the squirrels. But they are so hard to catch.

Just so you know im kidding. But there are people who have done that.

How does alligator taste?
Its been a while, but mostly I just remember it being kinda chewy. I don't remember it really having a distinct taste. It wasn't bad, and it wasn't great either. Though I suppose it could have just been the way it was cooked at the restaurant.

I've eaten so many species of fish they all blend into one. Beyond the obvious, I love calamari (squid) and octopus, as well as monkfish and skate wings.

Back on to land, I've had snails and alligator. I also had sheep's brain once while I was in Barcelona.

Rattlesnake and all snakes are really soft if cooked right. You can cut right at the vertebrae, grab the bone and eat it like a cookie. Just not the bone part.

Squirrel are easy to catch. With just a stick and a few coat hangers, I can catch a dozen in a day. Pretty much any small rodent in the north east states, I have eaten and many insect types. Boiled ants are by far my favorite though.

Weirdest thing? This might be considered weird, but Liverwurst. For those who don't know what Liverwurst is, it's a German meat that mainly consists of pork liver. It may sound and look a little disgusting, but it's delicious.

Alligator meat is probably the wierdest thing I've ever had, my dad caught it and made steaks out of it, don't remember the taste, though.

Besides that, I'd say bull shark is the second, it was much better than expected, and between about 5 people we'd eaten most of the meat in one night. It was also satisfying since we caught it, gutted/cleaned it, and ate it in one day

Haggis from Scotland is delicious

Any clue on what it tastes like? Because looking at the ingrediants, it looks exotic and weird enough. . .

I've eaten so many species of fish they all blend into one.

Yea same here. all fish seems to have the same texture. But if I think about it enough, i can taste each unique flavor. But sometimes Im just so hungry that i dont really care and ending up shelling 20 bucks for lunch.

I also had sheep's brain once while I was in Barcelona.

Brains are awesome. But Ive never had a sheeps brain. Always wanted to try monkey brain. But fish brains for me are the tastiest. Because thats the only one I could find.

Im afraid of catching one with rabies. That would scare the hell out of me. And since I live in a surburban area, They would most likely eat trash. Only if i catch one in the woods will i ever eat any animal ive caught. But insects, I can never seem to find them anywhere.

Yea its delicious. Had a powerful flavor if i remember correctly. But i never really considered it "exotic" since it was made from livers. . .

I wonder if Glue and play doh counts as weird. I forgot what glue tastes like. But. . . *licks container of play doh that happens to be right next to me* BLEH. .. Tastes Extremely salty. Would not recommend it.

But yea try it.
You won't like it. :p

Tried it. All I had was wheat bread. . . But it really isnt that bad.

this is off topic too, but Ive always thought cookies/hamburgers/and cocoa puffs is a drug too.

1. The cookie monster
2. The episode of squidward first eating a krabby patty
3. cuckoo for cocopuffs. Coco puffs do not make a bird like that.

But back on topic heres a weird recipe for you guys.

1 cup of cubed sashimi grade salmon. Or very fresh salmon*. Squeeze it tight in the measuring cup. You do not cook the fish at all.
2 to 3 tablespoons of lime juice
couple pinches of fresh cilantro
a nice whole slice of onion about 4 inches in diameter and a millimeter or so thick.
Pinch of Sea salt (sea salt is the best tasting for this) and pepper
Optional - jalepeno grilled

Cream cheese and wheat bread for the sandwich. Optional, Toast it with some chopped rosemary to get an italian taste.

First clean the fish of any bones and skin and any bad tasting stuff. You want the orange part only. you can put the grey part but im a bit picky. Dry off as much as you can.
Sautee the onions in oil until bitterness has dissolved. Cool down then mix with salmon. Make sure some of the oil still gets on the fish. Just enough for a taste. Add the rest of the ingredients in a food processor. Process until you get a nice paste. Get some softened cream cheese, and spread it on a piece of toasted bread. Spread the paste on that and add another piece of toasted bread. Add some toasted rosemary if you want. Youll get a nice salmon sandwich. Adjust the ingrediants to your taste. Its only good for a day in your fridge so eat it all up.

*to find a very fresh salmon, go to a place that sells whole salmon. Look at the gills. If its red, its fresh. If its not, avoid.

^I tried this last night, and have to say it was fluffing phenomenal! Very tasty snack.

I knew a kid when I was young who used to eat the sand right out of the sandbox. His mom told me it was because he had an iron deficiency, and thats how he got the extra iron he needed.

As much as I'm dieing to try odd and exotic foods, I haven't ventured all that far with it yet. I've tried alligator jerkey when I was down in Florida and didn't mind it. Also one year I smoked a wild turkey in my work truck. It literally looked like it had blown up, feathers were everywhere. But it was still in decent shape when I got out so I kept it for someone I know. They cooked it up and it was surprisingly tasty with the gravy.

Alligator meat is probably the wierdest thing I've ever hadSame here.

From what I can remember, I went to this resterant with my family and decided we'd be a little daring and try some new foods. We had some shishkabob's with aligator meat, I tried sushi and it was stuffed with some seaweed in the middle of it, that was definatly odd for me. I had oysters, wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to taste but it wasn't the greatest either.

That's all I can remember, except for maybe curiously trying a few creepy-crawlies when I was really young.

I barely remember it, but once in elementary school, my friend let me try this taiwanese (sp?) thing. It looked like a huge, yellow-and-black peapod. You opened it up and it had these round balls which were pits covered in this incredibly sour semi-gooey stuff. I mean, it was the sourest thing I've ever tasted. I loved it :D

I described it to my friend, and she said it might have been a leechi nut, but I'm not sure. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, PLEASE give me the name. I want to have it again!

Asians eat remarkably odd food. That said, I'm Chinese and my parents have made me eat things without telling me what they are ahead of time. It's a bit traumatizing when you're a child. I've noticed that things I find weird and actually remember eating are just the other parts of animals.

Weird list: Cow tongue, pig ears, pig feet, and chicken feet.

The only thing that really makes me squirm is tongue. Feet also bother me a bit. I noticed that feet are always sticky when I get to it. And I'm a secret fan of pig ears. I'll never really figure out why.

Chances are people eat things others would find weird and don't really consider them. For example, I like eating: eel, frog, and jellyfish.

Isaak, have you eaten everything on the planet except for long pig? Or have you also had that as well, because it seems like there's nothing you haven't tried or won't try.

If you mean human flesh, Yes i have tried it. When I was a little kid, I scraped my knee. I had a huge gash and a huge scab developed. I remember peeling it off and eating it. It was crunchy. :ew:

WTF d00ds?

Hehe, didn't expect you to know what long pig was, most people don't.

Pig is good. Really chewy though when cooked on a fire pit. Great with fresh BBQ sauce.

Their is a weird thing you probably all have had but don't realize it: Jell-o. The gelatin is made from the intestine connective tissue of horses and cattle.

Well....fried cockroaches aren't that bad but tricky to make because if your worried about Germs you have to breed them. and also remove some hard pieces from them before frying.

I tired them because i was watching a thing on cockroaches and seen some one eat them and said what the hell why not went got a few and Google to breed and did it

I remember buying mice, frogs, and a cat for my dinner. Just kidding just kidding. .. . the cat I adopted. And named her pork chop.
