Yeah so I saw Marilyn Manson back in like 1994, when he opened for NIN at the Fabulous Fox Theatre here in Atlanta, and it was an awesome show and I've liked him ever since. Been following all the controversy throughout the years, but I thought that crap kind of fizzled out.
I went to go see his show last night at the Tabernacle, and took my friend (his birthday) and my wife, and we were "treated" to the most insane blasting of Southern Baptist hoo-ha freakin nonsense outside of the club while we were standing in line. I mean some hardcore religious nutso bologna.
YOU'RE ALL GONNA BURN IN THE FIRES OF HELL -AH
GOD WILL DESTROY ALL THE PERVERTS -AH
JESUS WILL COME TO DESTROY ALL OF YOU SINNAHS -AH
All this was shouted into a megaphone, complete with a WALL of signs calling me a pervert. Now while I AM a pervert, it doesn't quite make me a bad guy. Anyway, I was astounded by all of this - I thought people gave up on trying to paint Manson as the Anti-Christ like 5 years ago?
On the flipside, the show was absolutely incredible, though his set was somewhat short. Ours, the band that opened, was pretty decent, and I'm gonna check out a few of their albums. Manson really knows how to entertain and give a crowd their money's worth.
