Simple question, why would a game say it works on Windows 98 and XP, but not on 2000? What differences are there that would make it any less compatible?

i don't know, what game are you talking about?

anyways i guess they are just trying to limit their resources by making it to the most used operating systems.

that sucks though.

Is this a game you've actually tried to install on 2000? The only differences I can remotely think of would be drivers for certain hardware and the structure of 2000's service packs. FYI, service pack four was the final release for 2000, that and probably a couple other roll-ups. I suppose it's also possible there were slight differences in the NTFS filesystem early on, although I doubt it.

2000 is closer to NT then the other two are. That might explain the problem. You can browse Nt Compatible (http://ntcompatible.com/compatibility.html) for tips about how to make certain games work on 2000.
