Has anybody beaten the game on Veteran?

It's ridiculous. I've only done the Prologue, Act I and a few select missions from the other Acts and I'm about to just give up on the whole thing.

Yeah, I only beat the first two missions on Veteran. I could not for the life of me beat the third one on Veteran, and ended up starting over and playing through on Hardcore.

I've done at least 4 or 5 missions I think. You will be seeing a lot of quotes by famous people if you play it..

Speaking of veteran mode I'm doing the " shock and awe" mission( the one where you start off in the gun of the plane) and I can't make it more than a minute into the level without dying...anyone got some tips for it?

Am having major trouble with One Shot, One Kill Just because I keep getting gang banged by bullets. And when I do make it am not much of a bullet sponge when your carring a guy... It's just all luck.

If you're talking about right at the beginning, I had trouble there too. Try and memorize where the people are going to start shooting at you and lay down some fire as soon as you can. Be sure to take down the two or three vehicles at the beginning next to the highway first, before you take out the machine gun on the roof. I think the beginning was probably the hardest part, so it's easier from there.

You need to play extremely smart and crouch or prone whenever possible.

I'm currently on 'All Ghillied Up", and I have a feeling it's going to be brutally difficult.

My strategy is just stay as low as possible and poke your head out when you can. But one thing I've noticed (from this game and CoD2) is that the enemies almost never seem to stop coming if you just lay back. It's like they keep feeding you enemies until you move up closer towards them. A few times I've just taken it slow from under cover, and guys just kept coming and coming, no matter how many I dropped. So you do have to take some chances and try to advance when you can.

Yeah, I came to that realization at the TV station shootout. I was getting murdered so I decided to stay by the entrance and camp, but twenty minutes and forty bodies later there was no end in sight. You gotta move forward and get checkpoints to make any progress.

And for "All Ghillied Up" on Veteran I ran into a huge problem. The part after you go through the maze of shipping containers and walk into like sixteen enemies and have to crawl under the vehicles was impossible for me. No matter what I did, no matter how closely I followed MacMillan, I would always be spotted and MacMillan would die. It was so simple on Hardened, I just followed MacMillan's instructions and got by fine. But on Veteran, even when we're both crawling under the vehicles somebody manages to spot me... I just gave up.

That's weird, I just finished that level and when I did it I went unnoticed completely, just like when I played the first time through. Hopefully you didn't run into a glitch or anything.

I thought that level wasn't that hard, even on veteran... the only trouble I had was the army (the one with the tanks) walking through and you had to crawl/stay through.

So I finally got around to beating the game on Veteran. Definitely worth the challenge. The last part, when you're working your way through the bunkers to put in the abort codes, gave me a lot of trouble. After I got to that big blast door that Gaz has to open for you, it got a lot easier. I ended up putting the codes in with about 20 seconds left, so that was a little exhilirating. :),

Just a tip for anybody who's interested, use your special grenades when you're in a jam, they can be lifesavers. It also helps to pick up another good weapon in place of your pistol. That way instead of reloading in a fire fight you can just switch weapons and keep shooting. Both of those saved my life quite a few times.

I beat it on Veteran the day after I got the game, extremely hard, but oh so satisfying. The worst level for me was the one near the end where you're trying to get to the launch site, I nearly killed someone I was so ticked off during that mission.

That's where I am too. I'm stuck at the very end of your level where it's you and the basically dead MacMillan fighting off a million people. I've tried it countless times and I can't find a strategy that works. I started hiding behind a fence one time where I can't be seen but then they get me with grenades.

As for All Ghillied Up, I found that to be the easiest mission on veteran. I only died once when they saw me, but I still somehow got the achievement where they aren't supposed to see me.

What worked for me on One Shot, One Kill was hiding behind that little rundown bumper car station and killing people from there. I put claymores all around the perimeter after I learned where the enemies usually went, and just crouched behind that for protection. You might have a few enemies run right where the bumpar cars are, but other than that there's only one way back to where you are, so you can defend it pretty well. Plus there's a lot of space back there, so if somebody does get a grenade off at you, you have room to avoid it. Otherwise I pretty much just stayed low back there, killed the enemy when they got too close, and waited for the chopper.

I already wasted my claymores. They told me to use them so I put them in random places then the checkpoint came and I have not seen one explode. I'll try the bumper car idea but I doubt it will work, I've tried everywhere, even hiding under the ferris wheel.

After you drop MacMillan off, go straight back between the two buildings in front of you and across the lot with the cars. The building on your left should have a fenced in swimming pool. At the end of this building and the building on your right is a pathway from the right where the tangoes will be coming in. Keep going straight to the far right corner of the next building to the fence with shurbery and get ready, but before you get set, you will have enough time to plant your remaining claymores. Plant them in the pathway, and stop planting before you get to the front corner of the building in which you are going to set up.

Most of the tangoes will run pass your position and head toward MacMillan, but keep you eyes open, because just before some of the tangoes reach the trees they will turn around. MacMillan will pick some of them off, but not all. If your back is against the fence with shurbery and your left shoulder is against the building, you will be able to see the tangoes coming around the corner after you, and the ones that turn around just before the trees.

Once the helicopter lands to pick you and MacMillan up, you will hear, you have so much time to get onboard. Press the left joystick down and run like hell to MacMillan and. Do not worry about the tangoes that you are running through on your way to MacMillan. MacMillan will take out a few along with the backups from the helicopter. You will still get hit by a few, but do not stop. Keep running to MacMillan, and pick him up. You will survive. Head to the helicopter.

I spent easily a couple hours trying this. Finally get to the hostage, so I decide to use the plan that I did on normal, shoot the guy in the leg, then the head. I shot and it said "You killed the VIP, true veterans get headshots" or something like that. I freakin wanted to punch something.

What I did is sprinted at the very beginning, ignored the guy coming out of the left, took the left path, shot the guy, threw a flashbang where the group of guys came out, crouched down, went to the left, killed all of them that were in my way, picked up a P90, went into the next area, letting my allies mop up the rest. I hid behind the first chair on the right, and reloaded. Probably had about 44 seconds left. Surprisingly, it provides good cover. As soon as I could, I flashed the enemies and moved up to that wooden thing on the left, right before the hole. I then proceeded to try to take them all out. I had about 27 seconds left. I sprinted up the stairs and reloaded. Then, I threw a flash at the enemies and charged, trying to take them all out. Then, I rushed to the table in front with the flashes. I probably had about 16 seconds left. I reloaded both my weapons, threw the flash and charged, obliterating anyone with the P90 and then switching to the MP5SD once the P90 needed to reload. Got to the VIP with about 2 seconds to spare. If you can, just rush past the last few guys. I don't think they can kill you once you get into the slow-mo cutscene type thing where you shoot the guy.

Good Luck. It's freakin hard.

heres another hint of advice for you guys who havent beat it on veteran...dont get kill greedy...you have a team for a reason..and no matter how many times the die..they will be replenished..i dont understand this...but just take a lot of cover..only come out to take a few shots...this wont always work...but youll get through it...i wish you good luck...and as for the vip mission...that is a pain in the ass..i know...first you should play it on a lesser difficulty and learn the patterns of the tangoes..use the flashbangs wisely..and on veteran difficulty you do have to get the headshot while it goes into slowmo...

the one hot one kill mission has been the hardest (now im in the No fighting in the war room) part was when you are in the ferry wheel when you have to wait untilthe helicopter arrives. i just ran tothe back and hid behind a wall i sniped some enemies, when tha helicopter arrivedi ran to Mcmillan (taking heavy damage) and carry him tothe helicopter

I beat all of the missions up to One Shot, One Kill on veteran. That ferris wheel part is super hard, I'm just thinking of bumping it down to hardend for the rest of the campaign just to get the 90 gamerpoints.

ive beaten everything up to no fighting in the war room..... that damn hallway is so damn hard!!!

For 1 shot 1 kill honestly i found the best stratagey was to lay out claymore/c4 befor you drop mcmillan by the ferris wheel. He refills all your c4/claymores so you get even more to lay. I layed all of them by the wall where the come around. Personally i had the G3 so i got 350 sniper rounds. (use same ammo) Then i layed down next to the sidewalk so i could see around the wall they were coming around. When they come charging around they all head straight at the ferris wheel and you can pick them off as they run past you. just stay close to the raised sidewalk for cover. It took me 2 tries when i did this... after 30 tries of trying to stop them from the ferris wheel.

I must say the abort code mission whatever it's called gave me the most problems on veteran.

I spent about 2 weeks playing just that level.

And since I beat it on veteran I only play online now, cause there's no more reason for the story mode.

I think no fighting in the war room was pretty easy, easier then on hardened in my opinion:S Well, it didn't take me as long to do it. I just run down the right hand side of everything. Took a few tries and a few WTF moments. But I got there.

I think the hardest mission is in the TV station, when your in that big room and the enemy dont stop comming in, because everytime i stood up and tried to run an RPG would hit me or a granade would blow up right next to be... but after about 12 attemps i managed to do it

the tv mission took me a while on veteran because i wanted to get the achievement of your show sucks. i took me like 5 tries to do the two achievements together
