I'm breeding my Skarmory with my Ditto and I'm trying to get an Impish nature. My Ditto has an Impish nature and I heard that if you give the Pokemon that your trying to breed a Everstone, it will have the same nature as the Ditto.
Is this true?

Almost.
If you're breeding something with a Ditto, the Ditto gets the Everstone. Then, the offspring will have a 50% chance of having the same nature as the Ditto.

Does gender matter here?

Yes. Only female and Ditto can use this effect.

Yes it does. Only Ditto and female pokemon can use the everstone to pass down natures.

If you breed Ditto holding an Everstone with a male OR a female Pokémon, or a genderless Pokémon that can breed (there are some, I think), the offspring has a 50% chance of inheriting the Ditto's nature. The gender of the Ditto's partner is irrelevant. You can also try the Everstone trick with two non-Ditto Pokémon that will breed, but the female has to be holding the Everstone if you want the 50% chance of passing the anture, and the 50% chance will be of passing the female's nature. You can't pass the nature from a male.
So to summarise,
Ditto with Everstone + any gender partner = 50% chance of inheriting Ditto's nature.
Ditto + partner with Everstone = nature not affected by that of the parents.
Female with Everstone + Male = 50% chance of inheriting female's nature.
Female + Male with Everstone = nature not affected by that of the parents.

Ditto can breed with anything that has a gender. It only took me 4 trys to get a female. If you are patient, and breed for it, you can get a female although the percentage is only 12.5% for a female to 87.5% for a male. If you still can't manage to get one, you can PM me and I have a Lvl 1 female I bred.

Do you have Wi-Fi? If so all we need to do is register each other in Pal Pads and go to the bottom level of any Pokemon center to trade. If no Wi-Fi, no way to trade.

Maybe it's just that pair of Dittos. Try it again with a different pair.

Dittos can't breed with one another. If you want another Ditto, you're going to have to either catch another one or trade for one.
