Problem?

I need a female Chimchar.
I have a male Infernape and I'm breeding it with a Ditto, but all the offsprings are male.
I've hatched about 20+ eggs already.
Is this supposed to happen, or do I just have to keep breeding until I get a female?

There's a 1/8 (12.25%) chance of Chimchar being female. That goes for all starter pokemon.

You've just been unlucky thus far. Of those 20 eggs, on average you should've had 2-3 females.

i thought that it was more likely when you pick it for the starter pokemon to have the same gender as the trainer?

I was lucky to get a female O_O
