I weigh about 160 now and ive lost about 30 pounds (im 5'4). Whats intresting is that i still look about the same. I have gotten skinnier but still like a doughboy and this damn flab on my right side isnt going away. I heard about people who lost an extreme amount of weight and now they have a whole bunch of skin hanging from them. Im planning on losing 20 more pounds but Im afraid of that happening to me. . . So is there anyway to tighten up skin? And when i suck in my stomach i see fake abs. . which means that its just skin creases. . . any way i can get rid of that?

I would recommend doing AB workouts. Eventually, your skin will tighten up and you will obtain the look that you want.

Yeah... you'll get what I have... a real ridged stomach, with a protective layer on top of it...
I have a nice layer of fat over my abs, however they look very toned, even with the fat over it...

Sprints are the best way to burn calories and fat as opposed to long jogs...

If its not, that damn treadmill has been lying to me again!
As with the problem with flab/loose skin, as long as you are not losing weight at an extremely (and therefore unhealthy) rate, you shouldn't really have a problem with that. Young people have more elasticity to their skin and it will regain its shape quicker. If you were say, 40, you might need to be worried. Its why those young girls can have babies and be back to their pre-baby shape within a week or less sometimes and why older mamas have to work it off. As it is you would probably just need to do some toning exercises to make sure it all gets tightened up.

Im 19 years old. . . Lost 30 pounds in 4 months, and gained alot of muscles in my legs.
And ive tried sprinting for the past 2 weeks. Nothing. But my legs are sexy ass hell. You can really see the ridges. But Its my stupid stomach.
Ive tried doing this one ab workout where the top half of my body is hanging off the edge of a bench and my legs are tied. So basically since theres no back support i have to use my stomach muscles to keep my self in the air. Now i have abs, but just like typhon, its covered by 2 inches of fat. Or at least i think its fat.
I ingest 1500 calories a day, But i use a calorie shock method. I eat 100, 200 calorie meal, then BAM a really fatty food. But i never eat more than 1 pound of food. The Idea is that your body doesnt know how many calories its going to take in a day, and by eating very little amount causing the body to conserve calories, then all of a sudden eating a large calorie amount, the body will shock it self into getting rid of the calories. And also, I fu*kin hate vegitables. All I eat are actually Lean meats like venison and rabbit with the occasional fish sashimi. Fish is actually where i get most of my fat. Then I eat the more fatty foods every 2 days like hamburgers.
And also i use the hibernation diet, where you sleep through breakfast and lunch and eat only dinner. However i eat a piece of fish 3 hours before i eat dinner.
Screw veggies. But I have to eat it now since im getting constipated. "EAT YOUR DAMN VEGGIES" *Poke spork on hand*.

That's not good for you at all and can actually make it much harder to lose weight. Your body slows down its metabolism b/c you're not eating. Its actually more effective to eat 5 small meals a day as that keeps your metabolism at a steady pace. Plus its better for your digestive system and gallbladder.

Cant help it. Im in college. Im up all night doing papers causing me to skip sleep. . .
But I still lose weight. The thing is, eating 5-6 very small meals a day dont work. Even if I excersize my arse off, as well as eat a granola bar 6 times a day, I gain weight. Everytime (but maybe its because sometimes i dont have the energy to excersize at all). And I still feel hungry and I just gave up. By eating 1 full but healthy meal a day, I lost my appetite for morning and lunch (if i wake up around that time). Also my metabolism works differently than other people. . .
Gary Schwartz, a researcher with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, answered, "There's no strong data supporting either [three meals a day or six meals a day] as being more effective" for losing weight or maintaining lost weight. "Clearly there is an emphasis on reducing caloric intake overall, whether it be by decreasing meal size and/or decreasing meal frequency."

Also, You Can lose weight by eating 1 meal a day. People have tried it. I Am proof that eating 1 meal a day can help you lose weight. As Long as these key factors are in place.
1. When you eat the meal, you give your self enough time to excersize a little bit to burn off some calories. Dont sleep right away.
2. Its the amount of calories you take in per day, Not how much you spread it around.
3. Yes its dangerous, But i dont do anything stupid like take vitamins or ephedra. What i do is drink Juice and milk. Helps me feel full.
4. Your metabolism is used to it.
Remember, i know its dangerous. But I dont have any problems at all. For some strange reason i have more energy than i had eating granola bars. I could jog for 2 miles a day, Bike 10 miles or just walk around. I feel completely awake. Maybe its my body composition but i cant change this diet if it works for me, and I feel healthy as a horse. Hell I just caught my doctor lying to me that my diet is making me sicker. She told me to stop my diet and I got a list of what i can eat. She took a base progress. After a while I came back, she never found a damn thing, in fact Im supposedly healthier in fat mass as well as cholesteral. The only thing that hasnt changed was my blood pressure.
But I really really like my diet. Its the only thing that i stuck to.

It's actually true... I was a bit skeptical at first... but short intensive exercises are as beneficial as a single longer work out...

If its working for you, that's great. I'm just saying that my 4 years of nursing school and 4 years of nursing practice have given me different information. Especially recently (that article is from 2005 from what I can tell?), I've had dieticians and doctors saying that if you do the one meal a day thing your metabolism slows down and then if you try to eat "normally" its still slowed down so you'll gain weight until it catches up.
If your metabolism works "differently" maybe you should have your thyroid checked? Hypothyroidism can cause you to gain weight, have a slow metabolism, and have difficulty losing weight.

How Do I check for hypothyroidism?
Isis
December 19th, 2007, 01:16 PM
You go to a doctor/lab and have them draw the labwork. Usually a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).
And again, I'm not trying to bash what you are doing, just trying to caution you to be careful about it. That article, while well written, doesn't seem to give a definitive answer IMO. Just, there's a bunch of quotes on people's opinion and what they say about not having research, but I don't see any research to prove the other way either. (Can you tell I'm big on research and not just what this doctor or that doctor says? lol Sure 4 out of 5 doctors agree on those commercials, but did they compensate them? Did they only ask 5 docs? etc.)
Now, I work night shift, so I'd like to point out that breakfast is a matter of perspective. Breakfast for me is at like 5pm and dinner is at 9am. Also, reading over what you are saying it seems like you are eating one larger meal and several small ones anyway (the fish, the granola bar). Just because they are not at the "normal" times doesn't mean they don't count.
If you are a college student, I'd suggest looking on your library's webpage and accessing their electronic databases. CINAHL is the best database I've found for health related research, but your school may have others that are health related. Look for a research paper that has plenty of research to back it up, not just quotes from various medical professionals - I could go to any weight loss supplement site and find random quotes, and they might all be different. There should be a substantial reference section with all resources no older than 5 years. It should also be an objective paper rather than a subjective one. (Side note: there's more to it than this, but I'm sick and I really can't remember it all off the top of my head right now. Go go low grade fever)
