So, Zelda and I have selected a new computer and it is already en route. It is not initially built for gaming. It's a microtower and it does have a PCIex16 slot, so we are going to put an Nvidia 7600GT in it. I'm a little worried about heat because I don't see any room to spare for extra fans. I'm also a little worried about power consumption because the supply is only 250 watts. Are these concerns justified?

The powersupply is a little low in my opinion. If you are that concerned with case airflow buy a larger case and switch the innards

The PSU is probably underpowered, iirc you need a +300watt PSU for a 7600GT, taking into account power needs at load + the rest of the system.

As for ventilation, if there's a back panel fan, it should be fine. The 7000 generation can take quite a bit of heat before risk of burning out...

Finding higher powered microATX power supplies that won't crap out is a chore. Is the PSU on this one is only a 250W, I'm guessing that putting a 7600GT would just bottleneck the system, regardless of power. Have a link or any specs?

I do think we'll end up getting a higher wattage power supply, but at any rate, take a look. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16883103090)

I mean, I acknowledge it might be difficult to find a reliable one, but we can still attempt, I suppose........
