View Full Version : Am I the only one being overwhelmed with games?

I was playing NBA Live but then I got into folklore and figured let me finish this than I could play Live again.
But then Rachet and Clank came out so I put folklore on hold and played that. Once I beat R&C and now went back to Folklore only to have bought Call of Duty 4. But I decided to keep going with Folklore.
But now Assassin's Creed is out along with Uncharted. Orange Box comes out in December and Epic stated that UT3 is still a possibliity in December. If Haze actually turns out to be a good title I might give a try.
And to think I only own one system. Imagine if I would of bought a 360 and Wii. Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Mass Effect, Halo 3...oh sh!t.

You should buy a wii just for Galaxy. It's fecking awesome. I haven't tried Ratchet and Clank yet...although I want, the reviews were misleading at best, but if it's as good as going commando it's easily worth a purchase. Assassin's creed is meh...I rented it and loved it for the first couple hours, and then all of a sudden became bored with it...And Orange Box and UT3 are just DUH purchases :D

The rush certainly does seem to have started this generation (or this Christmas, at least), and it really is overwhelming. Personally I don't play games nearly as much as I used to, and take my time to enjoy the games that I do have and get everything I can out of them. Which means that I literally don't have the time to play even close to all the games that I want to.
Currently I'm occupied with Virtua Tennis 3 (and have been since April), and The Orange Box (which has months left in it for me). After that, who knows? I'm interested in Bioshock, CoD4, Halo 3, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, Heavenly Sword, and Assassin's Creed. And that's just the new games. There are already loads of older games that interest me that I'll probably never play. Add some PC games to that list (never did get round to playing Age of Empires 3, and want the new Company of Heroes game) and the possibility of buying a Wii (Zelda, Mario Galaxy and Metroid are the three I'm interested in there), and overwhelmed certainly is the word.

Speaking of old games, I still have Warhawk. WOrd is getting around that Incognito will release more maps, intoduce new vehicles and new modes for their first expansion pack. ANd God forbid Socom comes out any time soone cause then I'm really screwed.

Nope. Past month has been Virtua Fighter, Mario Galaxy, Guitar Hero 3, Trials and Tribulations, Phantom Hourglass, Orange Box, and I've still gotta rent Call of Duty, wait for Mass Effect to come out, and get Assassins Creed in a bit.

I'm overwhelmed too. There's Guitar Hero III, Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Phantom Hourglass, Orange Box, Halo 3, and Metroid Prime 3. I want to play all of them, but how can I? I won't even get near to enjoying them all before Brawl comes out in February. That will put a stop to any previous game I was playing. And then the 2008 games come! It almost makes me wish for the Summer Drought. :-\

I got FIFA 08 first day and still haven't opened it. Warhawk and Folklore take up my time. Uncharted and AC seem to be good games but they aren't my cup of tea. if UT3 comes out in Dec I'll get that, if not I'll get Haze. I really want PSEYE games though.

I was a huge fan of the older AoE games, I just didn't have a good enough laptop to run the third one effectively. Now I do, so it's back on the list.

I think it is good that there are so many great games out there. We can enjoy the games that we have right now, and when it is time to move on to the next game, we have plenty of choices to pick from. Sure, it may get stressful trying to pick the best game, but no matter what your choice is, you are going to get a good game.
As for me, though, I won't start getting backed up on my games until Christmas. That is when I will be getting most of my games, and I won't have enough time to play them all. I just bought Super Mario Galaxy and The Orange Box last in the last 2 weeks, and The Orange Box is collecting dust until I get all 120 stars in Super Mario Galaxy (yes, it is that awesome). Even if I finish Galaxy before Christmas and have a chance to play The Orange Box, I still won't have played it enough to satisfy me, because I will only get to start on Team Fortress 2 after Christmas (when I get Xbox Live). By that time I will have the likes of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero 3, etc. and I will have no time to play them all.

This is old news.
As I said in some other thread, there's a steady flow of games to keep me busy until the end of 2008 the earliest. Think about when Burnout Paradise, GTA4, and Fallout 3 come out? Each of those games are going to be hundreds of hours of content.

Im becoming overwhelmed myself... >_< Ive been playing a lot of Halo3, and Ive been getting back into Gears of War and Smash Bros Melee lately as well. Not to mention I plan on buying Assassin's Creed later on tonight, Im getting Orange Box for my birthday on Wednesday, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Naruto Rise of a Ninja (yea, I love that game :3), and this is only on my 360 o_o... I want to buy a Wii sometime next year for Brawl, and also plan to buy Mario Galaxy around the same time.
Thank god I have already finished Bioshock, otherwise I would be even more swamped @_@
This is a bad year for the wallet...

Overwhelmed is putting it lightly.
I still have a way to go in CoD4 multiplayer, I'll no doubt be playing Halo 3 when the DLC for it comes out, Ace Combat, Assassin's Creed, GHIII, Jericho, Virtua Fighter 5, FEAR Files, Kane and Lynch, Mass Effect, NFS ProStreet, and probably some others I missed will keep me occupied for a while.
Normally I'd just wait til '08 to play some of them, but then you have GTAIV, Turok, Supreme Commander (never played it on PC), Alan Wake, World in Conflict, Army of Two, Rock Band, Fable 2, Frontlines, and others. And all of that's just for the 360.
Tis good to be a gamer though.

Not enough money or time to go around.

Of the three I only own a Wii, and even so I'm backed up on games that have been released lately. That is really saying something.
It's probably because of Christmas coming up.

Why is 1997 considered the glory year?
I always considered 2001 to be the end-all, be-all best year of gaming ever. Game Boy Advance, Xbox, Gamecube, the year the PS2 added about 20 kick-ass exclusive titles to its library (and pretty much cemented its position as number 1 console), and about 20 other games spanning all consoles, from Halo to Smash Bros Melee, hitting shelves all within a 3-5 month time period.
2006 tried to reenact by pushing the PS3, Wii, Gears of War, and a couple of other huge hits on us, but I dont think it made the impact the 01 launches did. Nobody cares about Gears of War anymore, whereas 01 introduced GTA, and that brought on a total revitalization of a genre. It came frickin close though, with PS3 robberies/ridiculous launch hype and every single TV program showcasing the Wii.

You really think so? 01 had 3 new gaming platforms. The 04 big name games were undoubtedly Halo and GTA, both of which began their skyrocket to mass popularity in 01 as well.

I'm so addicted to Call of Duty 4 I haven't had time to play Zelda or Metroid Prime or Halo 3 and I still haven't finished Saints Row or Gears of War.
Mass Effect, Assassins Creed can wait for a bit and Bioshock has its temptations as well.

I don't have a Wii and I don't plan on getting a 360 till around Holiday 08. MLB The show usually launches around the start of the baseball season.
- Good news. I finished folklore yesterday (very surprising ending I might say) and today after work I will step right in to play Call of Duty. Even though Assassin's Creed and Uncharted is out I'm in the mood to start pwning.
Damn I do miss Warhawk.

But, I too am "overwhelmed". I just bought RE:TUC and Super Mario: Galaxy for the Wii and Manhunt 2 a little earlier. I plan on getting "Uncharted: Drakes Fortune" on my birthday and GHIII(and II) on Christmas. That leaves me with CoD:4, Ratchet and Clank, and The Orange Box (to name a few) still out there. This is in addition to the great # of PS3, 360, and Wii games I have yet to beat but already own.

I feel like I'm missing out right now too. I still want to check out Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero III, Mass Effect, and Orange Box. Add in that I'm a college student who has absolutely no money, and it might be awhile before I get around to playing them. I did get Assassin's Creed as a gift though, and I plan on putting plenty of hours into that to keep me busy enough.

Though I don't have as many games to play, I still feel overwhelmed.
Guitar Hero 3 is my main concern, but I also want Lego Star Wars: TCS, and for Christmas I'm getting SVR 08. I want COD4, GTA IV, and the Orange Box but I doubt I'll ever get them. What I'd really like though, is time to go back to all my games and get some achievements out of them. PDZ and SVR 07 are the main examples though.

Yeah, that's how it seems to be in a lot of places. Like when my friend goes down to Ecuador, DVDs are insanely expensive and no one buys them, everyone goes to the bootleg stores. Heh, they had a cut of Revenge of the Sith 15 minutes before it premiered in US theaters, he said. The cut still had the production frames on it.

I got to play crysis a couple days ago...and to be honest I wasn't impressed, It looked great sure, in fact it's easily the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but I kept hearing all this hullabaloo about great enemy AI, and it turned out to be lies. The enemies in that game are mildly retarded at best. And the game became WAY to easy once you're in stealth mode...anyway I'm sticking with UT3 for now.

Just to add to the Warhawk comment. Incognito is about to release a download pack that contains 5 new maps in night time atmosphere along with a new vehicle called the Dropship which require 1 pilot that can carry 6 troops and one vehicle anywhere on the map. It;s equipped with a Vulcan cannon as well. The old maps will have minor mods added to them to adapt with this new vehicle.
