Underground help (spiritomb)

I was wondering if you need to use the DS to DS linkup to meet other players in the underground or if you can do it over wifi as I'm trying to get myself a Spiritomb.

you need to be with onother friend in local you must talk each other 32 times but not at the same time first go down 1 talk each other then go up then again go down talk again each other then again go up and again go down until you get 32 times talking then go and find spiritomb. (remember it is not through Wi-Fi you need a local friend to do this on the underground)
