100 Greatest Games of All Time (Nomination Round)

Welcome to my next big voting project. This time we're going to be taking GameWinners members 100 most favorite games and then put them in order beginning with the best one.

This will go in multiple rounds just like the previous ones, only this time I will try to limit it to just two: the Nomination Round and a single Voting Round, each lasting one month. Hopefully the winners will be found and sorted in time for New Years Day, provided there are no short tie-breaker rounds.

What's allowed:

-Games from ANY system, be it hand-held, console or PC.
-Games released on ANY date, provided it's already hit stores outside of Japan before you nominate it.
-Imports (no, it doesn't conflict with the above statement. See here (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7547820&postcount=12) for an explanation.)

What's not allowed:

-Games on multiple systems listed multiple times. If it's a multi-plat game, it will be listed only once.
-Simple games like ones from online flash game sites or shareware. Basically it will have to be a game that was sitting on a store shelf at some point. Exceptions for games available only on Virtual Console and Marketplace.


You can nominate as many games as you want.

You can nominate a certain game only once, but each game can be nominated multiple times by many people. So just because one of your favorites has already been nominated once doesn't mean you shouldn't nominate it again. The more nominations a game has, the better off it will be in the Voting Round.

Discussion and debate is fine too, just make sure that if you make a nomination in the same post that it stands out so that I notice it.

You can change your mind about what you nominate, just so long as you do it before the round is over.

This time I won't be posting a running tab on how many times each game has been nominated until the end of the round. When the Nomination Round is over, the top 100 most-nominated games will go on to a 5 day Tie-Breaker round if needed, and be split up into 10 seeds of 10 games each, with the ten most nominated in the first seed, the next 10 most nominated after those in the second seed, and so on.

This is a lot of work. A LOT. Please help me out by trying to meet the following standars with your posts:

List the system each game is for, preferably sorting them by system in each post. Some of you have already been doing this and I thank you.
If the game you are listing is for more than one system, please mention that instead of just listing it as being just for the system you've been playing it on.
Please do not take the easy way out and just list the name of a series of games. List each specific game you want to nominate individually.
Please don't abbreviate the title of your games. Type out the full name, cut & paste if that makes it easier. Someone nominated "Pro Evo 4" for example and it took me forever to figure out what the heck that even is.
Please don't nominate an expansion to a game. Nominate the game itself.
Please try to limit how many games you nominate all in one post. You have the entire month to get your nominations in, so there is no rush. Try to post maybe no more than 10 a day if you can. I am getting flooded with the way things are right now.

Please do these things, they will help make my sorting out of all of this information a lot easier, and I'll be able to post summarized updates for you a lot more frequently.

I'm done. Nominated the Fire Emblems I find to be my favorites of the series, knowing full well that, FE6 notwithstanding, I may be the only one who'll nominate these games (only because the series is still under the radar here at GW).

I have other games I could nominate, but I'm pretty sure others will nominate them at some point. I threw in S3&K because I grew up on that game and its probably still the most epic Sonic game to date (even though it needed two different cartridges, but that's beside the point). I threw in FFV because it, too, is a rather underrated game in the series. Not my favorite FF (though I'm not sure what it is, actually), nor is its battle system the best either (I personally like X's the best), but it's damn solid and, unlike most FFs, has some really good replay value.

Hmm...I know I said that games had to be released outside of Japan, but that was mostly to keep people from nominating any hyped game that would be out in the west soon but that they had not played yet. I hadn't considered older games that were just never officially released here, so I'll probably make an amendment for those (I've been known to tweak the rules to these things as things I didn't expect come to light).

I think I'll post some nominations of my own. First I would also like to nominate some that were already nominated once:

I don't care that most people hate them, they were the only successful transition to 3D in that entire series in my opinion, and the only game I ever played where I actually felt scared at parts. The moment when your outside of the castle and it suddenly goes quiet when the three-headed dogs show up still makes the hair on my arms and neck stand up.

Yep, Warzone2100, I have the PC version as well, but the low resolution graphics were mildly irritating and the PS1 version had a few improvements, plus ground control was actually quite useful...
