An IV is a set number between 0 and 31 that determines what your max stat in a certain stat is, with 31 being the highest. For a neutral nature, this means one stat point for every 1 IV, although it may be more or less depending on the nature.

Also, the pokemon just have the IVs so you would have to breed a lot to get the right IV's and nature, although I think the Ditto holding an everstone trick works for IVs too.

The Everstone is only for natures. IVs are inherited by the parents as well as generated at random.

I find that this (http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/OnlineProgram/Calculators/IV.aspx) makes an excellent IV calculator.

Could I use the one on Serrbii? I find it easier to use.

If that's easier to use for you, then go ahead and use it.

Thanks WER.

One more question how does it affect the way EVs increase stats? Like if I EV trained a Cress in HP [252] how would it affect it giving it 63 extra HP stat?

There's a problem with using IV calculators. You can't guarentee accurate results until your Pokémon reaches L100. The results have the potential to be more inaccurate the lower the level (max possible values = 100 / level (rounded up). Using the stats at L10, each IV can be any of 10 different values, meaning the answer given by the IV calculator could be off by as much as 5. Using the stats at L3 and lower, you can't narrow it down at all, and it can be anything from 0 to 31. Don't bother breeding for a low Speed IV unless your going to bother to raise each baby Bronzor to at least L20 (max of 5 different values) before you check.

IVs don't affect stats gained from EVs. WER probably typed EVs when he meant IVs.

Well, in Diamond and Pearl you have a nifty way of checking IVs easily. If you have WiFi, simply get in a Level 100 battle with someone, then write down the stats for each of the Pokemon you want to check. Those will be your Pokemon's stats at level 100, letting you check for sure what your IVs are.

Nice catch, Bulba.
