Did I win the GW race yet? :P

I am officially f***ing inhuman! I have been playing TTFAF over and over for the past three hours, and now I am done with it! The hardest part has the be the intro, for sure. I have loss the sense of feeling in my fingers.. gaaah, can't believe I actually beat it.

All I can say for the intro is that there is a pattern to it. Forget trying tap it, since you have to go down to green right away.. just hold in green, and strum-tap the other notes.. that's all I can say.

I also failed at 98% which really bummed me out, because I couldn't pass the intro for the longest time right after that. For the outro part, there's another pattern that might help -- Hold in red, of course, but then strum the orange and blues back and forth.. that help me sustain my rock meter in the blinking red.

TDWDTG and TTFAF took as long as each other.. 2-3 hours each. The boss was a pain, and kept lefty-flipping me.

Some screenshots: ONE (http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/3228/picture1yl1.jpg) and TWO (http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/2998/ttfafld8.png)

End Result:

Three Stars
254,730

I should've star-powered three times, but I was worried about BEATING the song..

OMG! I didn't expect someone to beat it so quickly. The intro is giving me so much trouble! I'll spend some time on it after Halloween since I'm going away and I got a firend over right now, but I don't know if I'll ever beat it. So once you pass the intro, it gets a lot easier right? I played it during the credits and my hand was so sore after that. But my run during the credits I did great on the intro.

Once you can pass the intro, you wouldn't need to use SP again (only if you're about to be booed off the stage) until you reach near the end of the long solo. I had to use my SP there EVERYTIME. There are also two SP spots after the solo, when it goes back to the main riff again. Try to get those, but it will be hard. Also, try to decently on the "YOU ROCK!" (Crazy outro part) part of the song. Failing there sucks!

Ok, I just played it at least 50 times, and I can't get farther than a lowly 2%. How do you do the intro? I've had two strategies, one hit evey note and play it like a normal song, and two, hit every green red and yellow note, but I don't think the second strategy will work. I really need help with the intro.

If you can hold green down and get your fingerwork down for the rest of the buttons while strumming them out, it should help you. All I need to do is get it down and I'll be set, since the intro is basically the hardest part in the game. I can't even get past 1% yet and I thought I'd be able to get to at least the solo and I'd fail. Oh well, at least if I can beat this song I should be able to destroy Jordan once and for all.

I'd disagree with being able to destroy Jordan, even after I beat TTFAF (which might never happen) I still probably won't be able to consistently beat Jordan.

And as for your strategy to the intro, that is what i'm trying but I think my only option is to hit every one of those notes.

The technique I used is kinda hard at first, but you'll get used to it. Hold in green, and tap-strum the other notes. You have to be EXTREMELY quick by tapping the notes, because if you hold in the other notes longer, you will have to re-strum the green note every time; so make sure you can tap-strum quick enough. Forget looking at the green notes coming down, just focus on the other notes and try to tap-strum them.

Congrats. I'm kind of annoyed I wasn't in the race, what with America getting it first and all.

I will beat it, soon.

Unfortunately, I dont actually have the game, and I'm playing my friends copy while he's over, and I'm not getting it till November 21st. So, I'm thinking I'll have it within a couple of days of getting it. I've got the pattern on the intro, I just need to work on my speed.

Question!

Is this song available in Hard or Medium? And also, how do you unlock it?

Pike
October 29th, 2007, 04:22 PM
You unlock it by finishing Career mode, I assume not having the game taht you can play it on any difficulty just like any other bonus song

I just had my best run a few minutes ago, 3%. I strummed every green note and tapped every yellow/red note and skipped blue and orange.

Wow, I really really suck. I taped down my green button and I still couldn't do it, in fact I did worse. I really have no clue how to beat the intro, but I'm all pro after that. I can hold a 4X multiplier in the post insanity part, and one time I got a 100 note streak. I had to play two guys back to back in this song online and I won both times, but I don't think those guys could have beaten the song anyway.

Woo, just passed it. I did it in less than ten tries, I think. I got it on the second time I passed the intro. I think I failed before the GYO chord after the craziness. The time after, though, I barely dipped into the yellow there.

Time to four star this thing.

I have 3 letters for this song W T F! I flippin taped down my green button and somehow passed the intro, paused the game then took off the tape, I fail at 70% I try again with the tape idea and make it to 82%, and then I could no longer pass the intro.

Vulpes
October 30th, 2007, 07:05 PM
I was like that for the longest time. I always used to fail around 80%, too. Make sure you can pass the outro part, too.. at least hit 60% of the notes there, or else you'll fail. I failed at 98% once. :(

I'm sure I can, I always have star power near the end when I play on Pro face off, so as long as I do that and hit all the red notes I should be fine.

And what was up with our run of TTFAF on pro face off? When you missed notes it still gave you points, and you got random star powers for no reason, but they didn't show up half the time? But I somehow won?

Vulpes

Maybe it's the online lag latency or something. You got one of the hardest star power paths ever.. and when I faced my other friend who can't even do expert.. he ALSO got star power at that same exact spot! I sometimes see you strumming nothing. And a few times, I see no notes at all, or I might start in a middle of song.

I don't understand how everyone has so much trouble with this song...I didn't even come close to failing when I played it, but I guess it might have been luck or something...I'll give it another shot when I'm not so tired and let you know how it goes. =P

Woo, TTFAF four star. 420,254 points. I can do better, though. My hand was really fatigued so I broke combo a few times in the intro, and I should've had at least one more star power activation. 450k seems within reach for me.

Heh, my brother and I decided to tackle it on pro face off on expert and surprisingly, I got a 75% on the They're Hammer Ons part. I only got a 63% but still, it was so much fun trying to do well.

The only problem i'm really having trouble with is the start. I know HOW to do it, it's just a matter of... well, actually, i'm not too sure how to do it. What did you do Spiner? or Scatha? or anyone else who beat it? or at least beat the intro?

Spiner202
November 5th, 2007, 08:29 PM
I didn't beat it...

I'm still working on it, in fact, I'm getting worse on the intro. Tape is your friend though. I'm not really even sure what to do anymore. And I'm thinking that I can only pass it with tape. There used to be a little part of it that I could hit but I can no longer hit that, so I can't get past 2% anymore.

I've gotten 3%, but that was cause i was pissed so i was alt strumming just to see if it worked.

Right now, I went in practice mode and started to tap the into. I can tap the into and survive throughout the whole thing, but I can't hit every note 100% of the time. Tapping the intro isn't as hard as it seems, and if you practice it on the slowest speed, you'll get to somewhat memorize the pattern, and your fingers will automatically 'tap' what buttons to press. To start off, hold in the green button throughout the whole intro. With your fretting hand, I only use three fingers.. My index to hold in green; my middle to tap red; and my ring finger to tap yellow. I elbow strum with my strumming arm, and I only strum once or whenever I mess up. I use my strumming hand to tap blue and orange.. Index finger for blue, and my middle finger for orange. If you get the hang of tapping, don't forget that you have to actually tap really fast, or else the green note won't take, and you'll have to re-strum again.

Another method most people use is that they tape the green button with scotch tape. The only parts you strum during the intro would be the red through orange notes scrolling down -- forget green, just pretend it's not there. If you want to use this method, practice it on hard mode first, so you get the hang of it.

Time.

Final score: 437,159

Note Streak: 213

It was online, but I am fairly certain that that would be sufficient for a pass.

Sorry, I don't have a camera, but I am working on getting a screenshot.

It's mostly about the intro though. I've had awesome runs, but awful on the intro. In pro-face (still undefeated on TTFAF) I'm almost always losing by the end of the intro. Still your score beat my best of around 380K. Good job.
