I heard in another thread that a tank is a wall+sweeper.{if I'm not mistaken}

If I'm not can someone please give me some examples.

It is somewhat of a sweeper. Basically, it's something that can block attacks and retaliate attacks of their own.

Examples can be: Snorlax, somewhat Steelix, Rhyperior, Lugia, Ho-oh, Regice perhaps, etc.

There are a lot of Tanks in the metagame. Choose the ones that compliment your team the best.

Steelix, Regice, Blissey and Skarmory are walls, not tanks.

A tank isn't really a wall/sweeper, so to speak. The best way to explain it would be a brief explanation as to what walls do.

Walls are generally used to switch into a sweeper, laugh at all its attacks (taking about 10-20%), and poke it continually with a sharp stick (e.g. Seismic Toss) while healing damage, thus making the sweeper switch out to something that counters the wall better.

Tanks are also sort of designed to take on sweepers, but in a different way. They are designed to switch in, take may 25% or 33% damage from an attack, and then threaten a one hit kill or a substantial amount of damage, forcing the tank to switch out that way instead. For example Swampert can switch into physical variations of Salamence, Garchomp, and Dragonite without taking too much damage, and threaten an OHKO with Avalanche or Ice Beam. Hippowdon can switch into most physical attacks and then threaten to do a lot of damage with Stone Edge or Earthquake, and it can also use Slack Off to heal any damage. Thats how I'd describe a tank, at any rate.

The part of the definition of a tank you were given that is somewhat inaccurate is that they are also sweepers. It's nigh on impossible to be both a sweeper and a wall, because you simply don't have enough EVs to share between the offensive stats you need (including speed) and the defensive stats you need (including HP). And in Diamond/Pearl, if you wish to survive many moves, it has become almost compulsory to use EVs of 252 HP / 252 (S)Def, leaving no room to reasonably think about offensively orientated EVs.

As Seero said, Tanks aren't so much Walls + Sweepers in one Pokemon as they are things that can threaten the things they're supposed to counter.
