seriously, if they think that even halo is that violent, then they need to get out of the shallow part of the kiddy pool... Besides, only mental dissorders can cause this, they are forgetting it even exists now.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "only mental disorders cause violence," but the study was obviously incorrect. They knew nothing more than a certain area of the brain was stimulated. There was no research on what area of the brain or the effects of stimulation on that area. If she's a real psychologist, that makes me sad. Seeing as how I want to become one, that gives psychologists a bad name. =[

I meant people that play violent video games and have a mental illness... but if you read the part of G4's artical they say she ain't a real pshychologist... that the show producer told her that... about 5 minutes before the show... real stupid stuff here... also sad.

Thats just a bunch of folks trying to pass the buck. video games and guns are inert pieces of technology, it does not have any hidden agendas nor is it alive.

I have played several video games and it doesnt make me want to go outside and saw someone's head off with a chainsaw. I know the difference between fantasy and reality, i also know whats right and wrong-legal and ethical.

There's probably more to it, and i could understand why some people will think eliminating weapons and violent video games and tv rorams its going to make everything better.

Eliminating the aforementioned stuff is good for the short term, but in the long term its not to cure the disease but treats only the symptoms. the real problem however, is more complicated and subtle to detect.

I agree that there is not enough research and tests to convince the public that HALo is going to make me react to someone in the street as a hostile alien. its very interesting to listen to her opinion, but i wouldnt bet any money on it.

i think the problem is more general...to much or too little of one thing is bad. we have to learn to be more moderate in things. if a parents kid is playing too much video games, then yeah thats no good, kid should go outside and do something constructive every once in a while...go rake the leaves or clean the gutters or something.

There's already a thread on this in Gaming Industry Discussion under Game Help. There's no real need for a discussion on this in here as well, especially as no direct advice has been asked for. So if you want to continue this discussion go to the other thread.
