I don't know why, but I can't seem to get any decent size image to be 25kb. Theres one image I want for my sig thats 18kb according to the properties. After I save it and open it in photoshop, all the sudden its 170kb. After cropping it I can get it to about 80kb, then after I save it with a low quality of 2, and then upload it to photobucket, I can still only get it down to 29kb.

How do some of these people have larger signatures and still have smaller file sizes? Is their something I'm doing wrong, the picture I'm wanting isn't large to begin with, nor is it high resolution.

Actually, as you can see, I kinda fixed my problem. I had to go to "Save for Web/Devices" and mess with some settings there. But I still wanna know why Photoshop "upsizes" a file size of a picture.

I've never seen Photoshop do that.

Maybe if you cut and pasted the image from elsewhere, but if you just opened up the original file it shouldn't have changed it like that.

Can you post the original?

This is the original. I got it through Google Images which says its 19kb, and the website its from says its 18.87kb. (http://www.meristation.com/EPORTAL_IMGS/GENERAL/juegos/GameCube-Accion/97/IMG-cw425da12cad8e3/art6pe.jpg)

And I feel stupid now, because I just realized I got the total pixel dimensions mixed up with the file size. Still have a question though, because when I click save as it shows the file as 18.87kb. But when I get to that quality selection window, it shows the number 30.7kb.

Well, the size stays consistent for me so I'm not sure what's up. You must have some settings changed in Photoshop somewhere, I guess.

If you are saving said file as a .jpeg then the quality affects the filesize by quite a lot. Firstly you may want to try reducing the quality to something a little lower, or you could try saving it as a .gif and take out some of the colours. I usually save all my files as a GIF because it is a far better compression for plain images. The one you are using would be best saved as a GIF because it doesn't have a massive range of colours.
Hope this helps :^:

A word of advice: Don't care about the file size in Photoshop, unless it's in one of the save dialogs.

And this image works best as a slightly compressed JPG, btw. 75-80 quality.
