Eyes turned towards the ground
She stares at rock and dust
She shouldn’t have to smile
But she feels like she must

Her heart is shouting something
And she’s afraid they’ll hear
She covers the sound with laughter
As her friends all disappear

Well, guarded hearts
Still play the parts
Still have to fall in place
I heard her tell a friend,
“I won’t do that again”
And there were tears on her face

Well, she’s been brokenhearted
So she’s a little bit guarded

Eyes turned toward the sky
I look up at distant stars
Stars seem so far away
I could never go that far

I’m too scared to chase desire
And I can’t quite say why
But all you’ll see is emptiness
When you look into my eyes

Well, guarded hearts
Still play the parts
Just don’t have a choice
I want to tell her now,
“I’d like to trust somehow”
But there was terror in my voice

Well, I’m pained by the departed
So I’m a little bit guarded

Well, we’re both a bit guarded
She’s been on her own a while now
I’ve been all alone, on trial now
Well, we’re both a bit hardened
She’s afraid to be vulnerable
She’s afraid to be wonderful
I’m afraid I’ll fail again
I’m afraid I’m stale within

Oh, I’m a little bit guarded
But I don’t wanna talk about it

Our guarded hearts
Still play the parts
Still watch the suffering
I guess I’m falling out
Without ever calling out
World fell out from under me

Take my hand, please
And then understand me
Don’t let me fall under
And we can guard each other
I won’t pull on you too hard
If you don’t push me out
Guarded hearts will play the parts
Until the walls come down

Its good. I like it a lot. I assume this is an actual song you've written?

We haven't written any music for it, if that's what you mean. We might. It depends on the other lyrics we come up with.

Good song, but I think you may have used "Well," to start off too many stanzas. Maybe it would work if I heard it with a meter to it that I didn't make up though.
