View Full Version : Okay, guys, if you care about Illuyad, read this.

I just spent about thirty minutes looking through the threads of Illuyad.
I was reminded of the passion you all had for it. After reading it, I decided there was no way I could let this die. So, I'm going to do much more thinking of ways to do this.
I will be trying to get an announcement for Illuyad. I will be doing much more posting in this forum, trying to do whatever I can to save it.
Okay, now, I want my fellow Illuyadians to suggest ideas to make Illuyad better. Or, say something else.
But say something. I can't do this without you all.

I think you're doing fine and I doubt anyone could think of a way to make it better. It just doesn't have enough people. There is one thing I can think of though. Make it so there are multiple threads you can RP in together without it ending. You know, public versions of the Travellers.

Luke, I don't know how many times I've showed you this. But please consider it one last time.
Step 1: Delete all unnecessary threads. Delete the quick announcement, current member list, Travelers Bio page, Important Rules, FAQ thread, and Current events.
Step 2: Merge threads. Merge the Level system into the register here thread.
Step 3: Delete the sub-forums. They will be a lot more useful when we get more active members but for now no one really uses them. The egg room and emerald project could be placed together in a single thread.
Step 4: We need to make joining requirements much more lax. A while ago I saw people trying to join and you weren’t accepting them because they couldn’t figure something out. It’s called being a noob, it takes a while for them to catch on but if we’re nice to them they’ll eventually become standing members.

Maybe everyone could start advertising in their sig. People won't join unless they actually know it exists.

We all tried that ages ago. Some still do it. It doesn't attract much attention.

I got Vash to delete three threads and sticky two threads.
Merge threads. Merge the Level system into the register here thread.
I'll do that.

Like not being able to figure out where the shift key is, or not being able to figure out how to use full words?

I left them there so people could use them. I'll think about turning them into threads.
Maybe everyone could start advertising in their sig. People won't join unless they actually know it exists.
I've done a LOT of things to spread the word. Just ask anybody here.

That's what Joe is talking about. Stop being so assy to people not capitalizing words. Otherwise I'll stop capitalizing words that need to be capitalized just to annoy you. The stricter you are the less people want to be here. I consider it luck that the majority of the noobs who have joined have more patience than you. They fixed their profiles time and time again while you bickered at them constantly. Get some patience and stop being so blunt about things. Help them improve, give them tips, etc. Don't just be like: "You can't be that," or "You can't have that." Help them like the rest of us try to do.
Making me an updater would also majorly help this place.
Like Joe basically said, cleaning up the clutter is a good place to start.

Oh joy. Kevin, aren't you a little bundle of joy?
I say what needs to be said. I am patient, just not when the only people who join make Illuyad seem like an idiot-infested daycare. I want to maintain our image.
Honestly, do ANY of you want to turn this into a School of Battle? Do ANY of you want a forum where nothing has a point and people, despite being told to MANY times, NEVER improve their grammar, spelling, or other things?
Also, I would appreciate it if all of you would stop telling me how I am wrong, how every way I run Illuyad is wrong, and how the noobs are always innocent and right. It's like a parent talking about a baby. "Oh, they don't know any better. Stop being mean!"
These people are around thirteen or fourteen, and they SHOULD know better. Take a look at the Pokemon forumx. You see people of all ages, but rarely do you see anybody post in a full sentence. Another example would be the Animal Crossing forum. Hell, ANY forum aimed at children is infested with lazy typers and annoying spammers. I'm just trying to make Illuyad retain SOME maturity, and you all see me as wrong.
Even now, this means nothing. I'm still wrong in your eyes, and everything I do should send me straight to hell. Okay? I get it. I annoy you all, but why? Because I say my mind, and none of you care about it. I'm just too "mean" or "blunt" about everything, it seems. If you really hate me trying to make this place not crumble into a pointless ruin, then leave.
Another thing.
Stop complaining about there being nothing to do. Instead of doing my homework or classwork, I'm trying to think of new ideas for everybody to enjoy, but what happens when I DO make them? Nothing. You all ignore everything, and just keep complaining. Learn to accept what I DO try to offer to this. Honestly, I do more for this than any of you know, and when I do something you don't like, you go insane with fury because EVERYTHING isn't going your way.

I'm saying to ease up a little. And sorry I'm coming on as mad at you, but I'm not. I'm just giving you some tips. I know you want it to have more mature people; so do I, but until they learn it (which they already should have) we need to be patient with them. If you want my opinion of noobs who can't type, I hate them with a passion. If I could kill every single one, I would, but that's not possible. So, instead, I read it the best I can and try to help them (before anyone mentions DF, he's different).
I haven't looked through Illuyad much. So I miss a lot of things. I want to be more active and help with it. No one here is against you (completely; sometimes you annoy me, but I annoy you too, so it's good). If you want I can help you with whatever you need as long as it's within my capabilities. Whether it be my sexy Photoshop skills, or lending my creative juices. Whatever you need, I'll help. I'm generally a generous person.

I'm going to dissect this even though I KNOW you want nothing to do with me.

It's been said. You are a bit of a hard ass. Just... tone it down. We all respect you and we all want to help. We all have Illuyad's best intrests in mind. You asked us for opinions and we gave them to you.
Honestly, do ANY of you want to turn this into a School of Battle? Do ANY of you want a forum where nothing has a point and people, despite being told to MANY times, NEVER improve their grammar, spelling, or other things?
If you work with people you can improve their grammar and the like! With time, anyone can improve...
Also, I would appreciate it if all of you would stop telling me how I am wrong, how every way I run Illuyad is wrong, and how the noobs are always innocent and right. It's like a parent talking about a baby. "Oh, they don't know any better. Stop being mean!"

We DON'T take the noobs' sides! Sometimes you'll be too hard on them so we'll try and make it easier for them. Who'd want to join something where the leader is a grammar nazi?
Even now, this means nothing. I'm still wrong in your eyes, and everything I do should send me straight to hell. Okay? I get it. I annoy you all, but why? WE got you to stay, remember? If you work with the newer people and show people who are trying to help you just an OUNCE of respect, maybe you'll get some in return!

I apologize for the rest of Illuyad that gets angry when you decide to change things that we liked. I guess we'll try to please you more than try to make it OUR 'World Without Limits' too.

Not only the leader. But pretty much everyone else.
Luke, we aren't trying to be hard on you. And I agree, we don't want this to become S.o.B. But we NEED members. And if this is what we get, so be it. We can always train them. You guys trained me, remember?

You wern't horrible when we first met.
Also, I act this way because of something Neil said.
"Forums like Illuyad are a breeding ground for noobs."

Luke, most people improve. We've all improved. Neil used to be a noob (when he first joined GW) and now he's one of the best. You have to give people time.
And yes, he was pretty bad when he first came to Illuyad. I doubt you would have accepted him today.

Why do you care? Seriously? Are you trying to win brownie points with the members so you can become a mod? Come on dude, I act myself and accept people for how they are, and I'm pretty well known and liked (From what I know). So what if it's a breeding ground for noobs? They'll get better, and then we'll have more members that are good RPers. And then more more noobs will join, and they'll get better, and we'll have even MORE good Rpers. And then more noobs will join etc. You see how it is?

Luke, do you remember ME back when this thing first started? i wud type lik i was textin som1 the entire time wen i 1st joined. Look at me now. I'm going to be VERY blunt: I REALLY didn't want to accept you. I REALLY didn't like you. But, you've grown.
Luke, get over it.
Back off. Heh, with the way your mind works, you should understand it.
Oh, that's right. You LOVE to be with stupid people. My mistake.

Okay, I'm going to say something that I haven't told any of you.
Illuyad has a history, and the current members who, for some reason, have stayed by my side know about the world. New people know nothing about the world.
Another thing.
I don't want DF's here. I want Mikes and Joes, I want people who actually LEARN things.

I fixed your quote to make it more correct.
Nobody who joins stays. It makes me...sad.

If it wasn't so intimidating maybe people wouldn't leave. We lost most our members after passing. Try doing what I used to do. Mass PM the inactive profiles. It usually brings 2-3 back.
This is also from a member who left's point of view. So, try to accept it that way.

Andi left. The noobs left. OMG it looks like you got what you wanted Luke. Those are who left.
And if you want people to know the world then tell it to them. I don't know a thing about it and yet here I am, offering my help to you.
Not everyone leaves. I'm still here, Joe is here, Mike is here, Dan is here, Ryan is here. Maybe if you weren't so strict they'd stay.

Okay, time to make my little rant.
Everyone, Luke, Joe, and Kevin included: back off.
Yes, things are going wrong, but naming them off and passing blame gets how much done? What did you say? None? You're abso-f*cking-lutely right.
I hate to be so hard about it, but how much has this produced? A few thread deletions, and yet MORE stickying of others? Some quotia. Now, let's restart this whole little shindig, and try being cordial with each other.
