I know it's too early to tell but what do you think will be JK Rowling's next project not relating to Harry Potter? Actually, to phrase this how I actually wanted it to sound, what would you like to be her next project not relating to Harry Potter? I'm all for the HP Encyclopedia and such but I want to see JK write a stand alone novel about something completely unrelated to magic but I can't put my finger on what it should be about.. ideas?

I'm sure I'd like to see an HP encyclopedia, but she can take her time in putting it out and work on another project. This series has consumed her for so long, if an other project is what gets her creative juices flowing, I'd want her to work on it even if its nothing I'm interested in reading. There are so many good books out there.

i would actually like to see her write a more adult fantasy. not that harry potter is simply a children's book, but it is a pretty simplistic read. i would like to see how she would write if she didn't have to dumb things down or simplify them (assuming she was doing either of those).
stop posting when you can see that i am posting woman

I never saw you in the thread. Meaning I beat you to it. :tease:
By the time the series got to Order of the Phoenix, it no longer really seemed like a children's series to me. It's certainly not Dostoevsky, but I don't think she was dumbing things down at the end. The first two books seemed episodic and more like children's books, but she really developed as a writer by the time she got through GoF.

the content was no longer necessarily a children's book, but i felt the comprehension needed was relatively juvenile...
and you probably didn't look to see who was in the thread :(

Oh but I usually do. It's fun. :D I hasn't lost my superpowers, has I? :paranoid:

Yeah. The only part where I would disagree is the whole horcruxes thing. When the books started creating metaphysical rules for the magical world, things got complicated. At least, I remember having to explain it better to some pretty smart friends of mine.

the precious has the super powers
the horcuxes took more comprehension, but at least i didn't have much of a problem with that (probably because i love arguing stuff like that just to be the devil's advocate, but regardless). i would have to reread it, but if i remember correctly i thought the whole metaphysical aspect of it was not completely thought out. some parts seemed like she had obviously spent a lot of time thinking and rethinking it, but others seemed to have been just thrown in there. i will be without my book for another month and a half at the very least so i cannot back this up with examples, but that is what i think i remember from when i was reading the books

I know a LOT of people that got either irritated or confounded by the scene in king's cross... *worded as such to avoid a spoiler* so...
I would like to see JK attempt more from the "Potterverse" but something else... maybe the real history of the Goblin wars or something lol...

That sounds very familiar, but wikipedia isn't confirming it.

I heard a while ago, she was going to write on Lily's life at Hogwarts, but that may have been a rumor.

That sounds very much like a rumour. But I'm sure it is well covered on various fanfiction sites, now complete with incredibly angsty Severus/Lily fics.

I just read that JK has just come out with a fairy tale book. Blurb didn't say whether it was her original fairy tales or what, nor did it say when it was going to be released to the general public.

I think she should do something like what J.R. Tolkien did a Silmarillion type thing. Kind of how everything came to be in the world of magic

This is one of the rarest books ever written and will never be available to the general public.

Tolkein created a world, and that justifies the Silmarillion. A history of the magical community (in Britain) is nothing near so epic in scope.

Heh. 7. *makes bad joke about Gwenneth Paltrow's head in a box*
It would be neat if it hit the internet. :paranoid:

As long as it contains no creation myths. "And Varda sewed the stars into the sky. And the Valar saw that it was shiny." :D
I'd settle for Hogwarts: A History. :woohoo:

i honestly don't think that she put enough thought to do everything you want her to for a history. i even doubt she has put enough thought into being able to write a full version of "hogwartz: a history" and half of the other textbooks she has mentioned

*cough* Internet distribution *cough*
I think she can be able to write a good Hogwarts: A History book. If you look at the size of the Star Wars Expanded Universe for example and how much official George Lucas approved content has gone into that, then there is certainly the possibility that JK will be able to write a detailed book.
