I can't wait to see this in 3D on an Imax screen it should be incredible. Its such a classic story and from the trailer it looks like they do a great job of conveying it.

The trailers I have seen make it look pretty epic.
Then again it does have Angelina Jolie naked, so I would be there regardless.

Yeah, it definitely looks epic. Has a real lord of the rings feel in the epic department. I am with you on Angelina, she looks smoking in the trailer. The entire cast is top notch

Are we all aware that this movie is CG?
So she's not actually nude in the movie.

Actually, she is. The just put extra of that gold stuff around her "special parts." I saw an interview on G4 with someone from the movie (I'm thinking it was the director.) during Comic Con.
And this movie is not CG. There may be parts that use CG to make it more realistic but it's not a full CG movie.
I can't wait to see the movie, and not just because of Angelina Jolie.

CG or not, it still looks pretty incredible to me. Angelina looks hot, but i'm more in it for the story and the action. The scenes with beowulf and the monster grendel should be sweet.

The movie is rated PG-13, but there is nudity in it. It's Grendel's mother. So there ya go.

Why is that a surprise? Quite a few PG-13 movies have had nudity in them.

I can only think of a select few.

With female nudity in it?
Titanic is the only one I can think of...

Airplane was rated PG (before there was a PG-13) and that has boobs in it.

If you want to see Jolie nude check out a flick called Gia. She has several nude scenes in there.

Taking Lives is a better one for the nude scene.

I keep forgetting about that movie.

I thought that grendel was supposed to be one of the ugliest monsters in literature?
This seems that its going to deviate from the original story and turn into a pure cinematic experiance. But thats the way movie writers are. Since sometimes what is written doesnt look the same when acted out. . though I could have wished they would have made a cool looking monster instead of a hot chick.

Grendel is.
Jolie is playing Grendel's mother.

the movie's not entirely cg? so, they're doing A Scanner Darkly (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405296/) type 'film editting' and making it look pretty.
nice.
i'll probably see this on Saturday

but Airplane is one of the greatest movies ever, this just looks meh. It just isn't what I imagine a Beowulf/Grendel movie would be like.

Yeah, but have you actually read Beowulf? Come to think it of it, just how many people have actually read Beowulf? I don't think that many people are going to squabble over inaccuries. To me it just looks like a good fantasy flick. :link:

From the snippets I've seen of Grendel, it's just not how I imagined him, let alone I feel there is going to be overemphasis on little excerpts of Beowulf's past and them made into long scenes.

I'm going into this thinking of it like 300, don't care if it's true to the literature, just care if I leave with a huge adrenaline rush.

I just watched that movie yesturday
That movie was stupid. . . It was funny, to make fun of. Mainly because of the queen. The voice sounded bad, didnt really fit her. But I Loved beowulf. Damn that guy was funny. I AM BEOWULF *pokes Eye out*
But i think it was good over all. With the action scenes. And of course BOOBS. Direction could have been a little better.

Wow, I didn't realise how many horny 13 year olds there were on the internet- Oh wait, I must be a dumbass.
I'd love to see this move, because it's Beowulf. Beowulf vs. Grendel is a dead horse that's still getting kicked, but, it's epic nonetheless. I'd like to see Beowulf vs. The Dragon, and, of course, Grendel's mom.
I've read Beowulf and Grendel, but only a synopsis of the entire Beowulf poem. Oh well.

I've read Beowulf. I actually own a copy. I also don't care if its true to literature. I'd like to see somethin' different. If I wanted somethin' to be exact I'd just re-read the source material. :P

I liked it. Of course I wasn't expecting a dead-on, true-to-form version. I was expecting a Hollywood rehash. And, I was right about that. I enjoyed it. I found quite a few parts laughable but it was obviously intentional for those parts to be funny. I loved the action sequences and think they would have been pretty spectacular in 3-D. This was another man's movie. Don't expect a great thought provoking drama. If you want a good animated action flick then you'll love it. Otherwise stay away.

My friends told me not to see it because the storyline was horrible. Personally after reading the reviews, I'm thinking about waiting until it shows on T.V. Well that is unless one of you tell me its amazing

i saw it on friday, and it was ok.
The pros:
lots of action
great job on making grendel ugly
EPIC
Good use of cgi
The cons:
Storyline split into two times (i hate that)
Overuse of Grendel's Mother
It seems that sometimes grendel's size changed
The bottom line:
see it if you are a teen or like action movies. otherwise, wait for dvd.

I like how the first 30 minutes were really exciting, then they spent the next hour inducing a coma followed by a poor attempt at reviving us.
It was godawful. Why the hell was it in CG? Just because it could be?

That was the major qualm I had with it. The animation just didn't fit the mood the film was trying to set. When I first saw the Queen I was half expecting an ogre and a donkey to show up. They didn't do anything with the CGI to warrant its use, and so it seemed entirely unnecessary.
