It's so early in development almost nothing is known about it yet. It was only even announced one month ago. Apparently with the success that Transformers was Warner Brothers approached the series creators about making a movie. It's not known which saga they're going to do, but it's probably safe to rule out the second one since the main protagonist of that one is a woman and Tobey Maguire is asking to be given the lead role.
More than once I've had the feeling that I'm practically the only fan of the show on this site, but hopefully I'm wrong. For those that didn't see or don't remember Robotech, the closest thing I can compare it to would be if Transformers met Halo met Voltron. Or maybe just that it was pretty much the first mech anime. If you liked the new Transformers movies then you would probably want to keep an eye on this one too.
