So I was able to get my nintendo fixed by a local game shop and I started playing all of my old nintendo games like mad! I was flying through Zelda 2 when I accidentally finished a palace without getting the special item out of it first. So now the castle is turned to stone and I need the item inside it. I'm really far along and I don't want to have to play it all over again but does anyone know of any secret way to open a castle back up so I can get the item inside?

Shoot, I haven't played that one in ages!

Did you look around this site or GameFaqs?

If all else fails I'd google the phrase "Zelda 2 castles items" or something or other.

Sorry if that isn't much help, but I feel your pain.

This is weird. When I beat a boss but didn't get the Item the castle
doesn't turn to stone

The item that I really need was in the Island castle (the one that you have to walk across the water with the special boots). There's a child in there that you have to rescue in order to get the reflection spell. Am I wrong or is the child somewhere else?

Hahaha, that's the exact same mistake I made! The kid you need to save is in the fortress maze. There is a raft that you take to this maze, the port is north of the island palace you speak of. There is a link doll in this area, but save it for later. Anyway, in the maze, search all of the road area, and one spot you will fall into a hole. Fight the monster there(if there is one, I can't remember), and go grab the child. Good luck finding him to get the "spell" spell in Darunia... I think.

P.S.- I just have to ask, since you made the same mistake as me. Have you gotten the mirrior? I had a hole in my spell list because I didn't think to check under the table in one of the houses in I think Saria. I didn't get the life spell until I beat three-eye rock(2nd last dungeon).

Actually, the mirror underneath the table was one of the few things that I remembered about the game.
That's funny because I remember that there was something special about the maze but I thought that it was all traps set up on the path. Thanks for all your help I thought I was screwed.

P.S. It's funny what you remember and what you don't because when I popped in the original Mario I remembered tons of hidden items that I thought I would have totally forgot.

Thanks again everybody!

Okay... if you go along the bottom of the maze, then north along the eastern side, you'll fall into a cave just before the palace. There's also a Magic Container on the island. I have directions if you need them. You'll earn the Reflect Spell. "Spell" is later, I think. You'll get the boots from palace 4 (thats the one in the maze) and the flute from palace 5 (thats the one out in the ocean, that you need the boots for).
Btw, while you're walking on water between the mainland and the 5th palace, try heading north. theres another path leading up...

After you beat the boss in each castle just exit with out getting the cristal. The castle will stay open. And when the experience points are so big go back to the castles and get the cristal where you kill the boss. And it will give you a level up for sure.

That's actually a pretty good way to do it! I didn't find that out until after I achieved full stats.:)
You have to go out the way you came though right?

Hello, maybe someone can help me out here

last week i decided to get my nintendo NES out of his box again, and i started playing The adventure of Link, Zelda2!

But i have some troubles in Castle 3 and i'm starting to think it's a bug ...

I couldn't find any key in that castle to unlock the one door i found ... so after an anoying while i searched for a walkthrough and castlemap of this third castle, i should find two keys easy (i know in which rooms they are) but they just aren't at that location (destroyed all blocks too)

anyone knows of another solution or is this a bug in the system?
Thanx ...

I can't think of it off the top of my head, I'll have to look into it. But to start, do you have the fairy spell? If I remember correctly you could use this spell to go through doors without needing a key. Get back to me and I'll see what I can find out.

i have the fairy spell yes and defeated bosses of the two earlier castles (and found everything i needed so far)

i've looked into it deeper (compared with walkthroughs and palacemaps) and i noticed another strange thing, the two keys on the top floor that i can't find need to be put on two doors that aren't their in the game i'm playing ... the third key (to open the one door i found deeper in the castle) is not where it is supposed to be and the strangest of all, the raft is not where it is supposed to be either (i can get to the rafts location)!

i tried the fairy spell but i can't get trough that door with it ...

is it possible that my savegame is screwed up by any wrong saving or removal of the game out of the NES? My NES is old and doesn't function allways, have to put the game in and push/pull it untill it starts :D

anyway, if i don't get a solution i will try to play from the start again and check out the castle again and let you know if it's ok or not :)
after all, it's only castle 3 i'm at

Ok, for those interested in how this worked out ...

I deleted the game and restarted it.

Conclusion: Now i find keys, enemies, doors and the castle's item (which i didn't find in the earlier game)

So probably something happened while getting the game out of the NES which screwed my savegame up!

BACK TO PLAY NOW :D
remind me not to remove the game out of my (disfuncional) NES as long as i didn't beat the final boss :)

g'bye and have a nice christmas and newyear all!
