For future reference, here's a thread detailing when Pokemon events will take place. If you would like to let us know of an upcoming event, please use the following template:

Basically, it's a giant tournament that will pit the U.S.'s and Japan's best Pokemon battlers against each other (or so the event says). Here's a quick rundown of the rules:

128 people who score 75% or better on the test will be invited to the qualifying round at each location.
Battles are 2v2, with 4 Pokemon each.
Species Clause: you are permitted to use only one of each species of Pokemon
Pokemon must be level 50 or lower (NO AUTOLEVELING)
Item Clause: No two Pokemon may be holding the same item.
Each Pokemon must have unique nicknames. No naming Pokemon after other Pokemon (i.e. Charmander named Squirtle). Offensive nicknames or trainer names will result in disqualification.
The following Pokemon are banned: Dragonite, Mewtwo, Mew, Tyranitar, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus. The item Soul Dew is also banned.
Pokemon are restricted to using moves learned by the following methods: level up, TM/HM, Egg move, Move Tutor, event Pokemon. Smeargle may only Sketch moves learned by Pokemon #1-491. (THIS MEANS NO SEED FLARE/JUDGMENT)
The use of game-altering devices is prohibited. Anyone found to have a "hacked" Pokemon or item will be disqualified.

That event is almost certainly fake, so I'm not going to post it. Several people have contacted the Nintendo World Store and no one knows anything about it.

Eh, I found it on both smogon and serebii, and assumed it was legit. But after reading more of the replies it looks like most people think it isn't.

And $uper$imon, if you read the bottom of the poster it mentions the Nintendo World Store as well, so it doesn't really matter if the top was glued on or not.

So yeah, this tournament looks to have some screwy rules, but it's gotten me to come out of Poke-retirement. NYC is only a 2-hour train ride for me, so I'm definitely gonna sign up.

You catch Heatran at level 70, iirc, which is why it is banned. Same for Regigigas.

American Deoxys Event

Thanks to all of you for sending this in. In America in the weekends beginning June 20th and June 27th, Gamestop will be giving away free Deoxys for you to put onto your game. It is said that the Deoxys has special moves and a special hold item, but this has yet to be confirmed. Be sure to check your local Gamestop to see if they are doing this event

The first weekend is June 20-22. The second weekend is 27-29. I didn't see a time, so I'm assuming this is an all day thing.

Deoxys (looks to be the normal form, but you can change this in-game.) will be holding NeverMeltIce and feature these moves:

Psycho Boost
Zap Cannon
Iron Defense
Extreme Speed

The only thing you'll need to do is obtain the Pokedex.

It says that this dragonite will be able to use in tournaments because its level 50 but this is unique cause Dragonair doesn't evolve until lvl 55 so this could be useful.

There is a specific trick you can use to get the EVs to apply before leveling Dragonite up called the "Box trick". It's what's used to apply EVs in Little Cup. (No, it doesn't work at L100 since you never actually get any EVs to apply). I wonder if Nintendo knows of this.

According to them, on Feb. 8th through the 14th, there's going to be a Shaymin event at Toys-R-Us stores across America (not sure where else in the world...)

That's all I saw, so I don't have a time or anything, but yeah. I'll keep a look out for more info. (you all should, too.)

This is also the same Regigigas that you will need to unlock Regirock, Regice and Registeel in Platinum. Unfortunetly, this Regigigas will be given out at level 100 which means no EV training.
