Adium is being weird...

So I keep getting the "could not send; a connection error occured" message back everytime I try and IM someone on MSN. It works fine with people on AIM. What's going on? It's worked just fine in the past.

I get that occasionally too. I just blame it on MSN sucking. It rarely happens on AIM. Usually I'll only get like 5 of those or something, while I'm sending messages, and then I copy paste what I had and it usually works okay. I'm convinced it's not Adium's fault.

I just tried it and got about 25 of those before giving up. Weird.

it is usually a problem with msn just randomly not connecting to the msn server. it happened to me on the regular mac msn so i never paid it any mind on adium... that and i rarely log into it any more.

Hello! I am around. Just usually around the RPG forums and the one club I post in (Alternative Gaming). It's been a really hectic summer for me ugh. I never got Microsoft Messenger to work on Mac. Some of my favorite people are on MSN more than AIM, and it is torture wanting to talk to them, seeing them on MSN, and being able to do nothing but email asking them to get on AIM. Who checks their email that quickly?

Ugh, my friends basically ditched me. Would blow me off. Not show up. I got really irked. I still have all the stuff and still have hopes that someday he script will come together into a movie...

Most of my favorite people are on AIM.. yet all my real life friends are on MSN. Sad, huh? Haha. I use mail and it checks for updates every 5 minutes so.. I get messages relatively fast. Of course Hotmail users are not so fortunate. But if you email their hotmail account, shouldn't MSN display that they received an email right away anyway? I seem to recall MSN doing that..

You can turn that alerts feature off.

So I guess you're going on the assumption they do? I dunno, I would leave it on. It would mean for speedy alerts about emails.

I fixed it by googling and finding this website

It came with installing the update to version 1.1.1

Turns out all I had to do was go into MSN's preferences and uncheck the box that says Connect over HTTP. Then close adium down and restart it. And voila. My frustrations abolished.

Hmm weird. My Connect over HTTP box is already unchecked. I have issues with MSN not connecting sometimes, but it usually goes away shortly. Glad you solved your problem though.
