View Full Version : The locket could have only been taken by two...

HBP states that two people would be needed to remove the locket. Who do you think was R.A.B.'s accomplice?
If you think that R.A.B. is Regulus Black, this might be worth a query. The evidence that it is Regulus is nicely summed up here (http://forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6694503#post6694503). But if that is indeed true, it also narrows down who helped him get the real horcrux.
When I finally saw the movie yesterday, I noticed that so many things were cut from the OotP movie, yet Kreacher was there. And I read in Entertainment magazine that Rowling said that he had to be included or future directors would be in a bind. Interesting... But that's just one thought I've had. Any other ideas?

That is an interesting idea. Now that you mention it, it probably was Kreacher.

Yeah. Id never thought about R.A.B having an accomplice. Would most likley be Kreacher. That way he could froce him to not tell anyone.

Kreacher? Hell no. Possibly an old accomplice of his from Hogwarts?

Actually, I'd oddly say it was Sirius. I dont know why I think I'd just like to believe that.

If the locket at Grimmauld Place was actually Slytherin's, don't you think Sirius might've recognized it?

Not really. He was so quick to chuck just about everything from the house he hated so much. If it had Slytherin's mark (the ornate S) on it, who knows if he would have given it a second look enough to notice, and that's even if he would have known it for what it was.
Anyways, if that was the locket (I think it is), just about everything in those cabinets was trashed during the cleaning. If it somehow missed the trash, either Kreacher saved it and took it to his den or Mundungus filched it later on.

I read on the DarkMark forum that the MOM is currently in posession of Slytherins locket, but how true that is I dont really know.

I wonder how the ministry would come to have it?
I'm leaning towards Kreacher being the accomplice, though I can see where it could by Sirius as well.

It would have to be Kreacher. The accomplice couldn't have been a full fledged wizard or else they couldn't use the boat to get to the horcrux.

Exactly. Remember that supposedly the only reason Harry was able to accompany Dumbledore in the boat was that he was underage and unqualified so his powers wouldn't register next to Dumbledore's.

So the accomplice would have to be Kreacher, or someone else whose powers wouldn't register; underage wizard, squib, ...muggle? It's a moot point, because I think it must be Kreacher, but if it is someone else then they would almost have to one of the three I listed.

Keep in mind that houselfs have their own magic and can apparate where they please no matter what the charms (eg. Hogwarts) so even if Kreacher didn't use the boat he could have just apparated to the Island.

They don't actually apparate they just "Pop!" you're right about the house elves haven't strong magical powers though. They aren't wizards though, they are magical creatures.

I have a very strong feeling that mundunges took the locket cos he used to take stuff from grimmauld place ( where Regulas used to live and is most probably R.A.B)

grr... I still have 180 pages to re-read before tomorrow at midnight. 28 hours.... I'm enjoying this one much more second time around. I was dismayed at how much was cut from the film though.

If Regeleus took the real locket then I dont see how the MOM could have gotten a hold of it though, b/c Voldemort had him killed. Unless he had the locket in his personal possession when the ministry found is body.

if he had it in his possession then voldemort would not have left it with him for the ministry to find

Well JKR said that 1 of the Horcruxes was mentioned in 1 of the previous books. And i'm not sure where I heard this but apparently in books in other languages the initials change when it says R.A.B so that it still fits with Regulas Black. imo that would logically place the locket as the one that was in Grimmauld Place. I may be wrong though, just my thoughts.

Technically, 1 was mentioned in the 2nd book, and that was the Diary. Or do you mean 1 undisclosed one?

Sorry, 1 that still currently is a Horcrux.

If it's only 1 that could just as easily count the locket out because Nagini has been mentioned.

Yeah. But Nagini has been more than just mentioned. I thought what she said was something more like only careful readers would notice it.

Not if Voldemort didnt know he had taken it. It was Harry and DD that found the fake locket and it was Harry that had found the note in the locket.

Well, in some book (HBP? maybe) it shows Harry confronting Mund and seeing that he's been stealing stuff, pretty sure it mentions a locket as some of the loot he has on him

So, of the 6, the diary, the tiara, the ring, the locket and nagini were mentioned and seen. And the sixth, hufflepuff's cup, was known to the reader and harry. thats brilliant. lol.

I thought the ministry connection was pretty clever too. I would never have believed it. It's always good to see Umbridge getting her butt kicked!
