Maybe I'll set this battle in a snowy terrain. Would of used this setting with Ryan if he went through, bringing back the old "Frozen Talon" memories.

The snowly slopes of the mountain made for a very peaceful and tranquil place of rest. It was very quiet, save for the random wind or the howl of a wolf. It was also lonely, and very isolated from the rest of the world. At the top of one of the ridges, one would see white waves for miles, never ending waves of pure white, peaceful and calm.

With the Holy War having been ended some time ago, Valreki decided that he wanted to wander Illuyad, seeing new places, and expanding his knowledge or magic, of the art of fighting, and of the world of Illuyad. On his journey, he decided to come to these very snow-capped mountains, in search of something he thought would serve him very well. He felt that something important was here. And his feelings were never wrong.

As he lay there, he sensed a demon nearby. He anger grew. He hated demons, and having one was a mere interruption to his journey. One more life that had to be wiped out. One more person to be killed, to help save this already demonic world. He places his right hand on his boomerang, and peered over the ridge of the mountain. On the other side, he could see a demon walking through the snow. But this demon seemed slightly familiar. He couldn't quite figure out why.

Upon further inspection, he discovered that his opponent was, in fact, Zain, the swordfighter who had helped him defeat Frozen Talon. How ironic. They had helped each other in snow, and one of them was going to die in snow. Die? Did they really need to fight, Valreki wondered to himself. Did this man need to die? Was there another option? Yes, there was. Valreki could simply say "Hello, how are you?" to Zain, and then discuss how things had been.

Seeing no problems with his choice, Valreki placed his boomerang back into his belt, jumped over the mountain, and landed near Zain. He smiled, and extended his hand in friendship.

"I am quite suprised to see you here, Mr. Bolton. Imagine seeing you here, of all places. How have your travels been?"

The soft snow scrunched underneath his feet as he walked, looking across the white landscape before him. The snow glowed with a sense of purity and beauty, a feeling Zain loved about this harsh environment. The last time he saw this beauty, was of the time he and many other great names of Illuyad searched to find Frozen Talon. A few names stuck out in his mind; Carnane, the pirate that helped him learn to harness his natural essense, and Valreki, Leader of the Holy Guard, and a master of sorcery and combat. As Zain walked through this wonderous yet chilling environment, a voice inside broke out. "Zain" it whispered eerily into his mind, "I have plans for you here, you will find out what they are, soon."

"What do you mean, who are you? Where did you come from, Why am I here..." Zain answered back, but all he got in reply was a dark laughter, then without warning, he began to feel nauceous and drained. He knew instantly what was happening. "You won't take me over, I won't let you." He screamed, but he was powerless, he could not stop this spirit inside of him from taking over his body. Zain dropped to his knees, shaking with fear but trying his best to resist the possession, but to no avail. After the screams, there was nothing but silence. Zain arose and carried on walking but something was different.

As he walked, Zain could sense something; it was a feeling unknown to him, but somehow he was sensing a familiar aura. As he began to look above him, a figured jumped from a ledge high above him; it was Valreki. *What is he here for? Unless...... No.... NO!!* Zain thought with terror striking his face.

"I am quite suprised to see you here, Mr. Bolton. Imagine seeing you here, of all places. How have your travels been?" his old friend greeted, as he outstretched a hand warmly. Zain just stared at the hand and slapped it away, he could sense anger and hatred inside. His bottom lip began to shake, his eyes widened, his hand shook violently; he was afraid, and knew that it was unsafe for Valreki to be here. "GO AWAY VALREKI, YOU ARE IN DANGER!!"

Velreki looked surprised, he didn't understand. "What do you mean Zain, how am I in danger?". He took a step closer, but Zain took a step back; shaking his head. "LEAVE ME ALONE!! I WILL DO YOU HARM. I AM- ARGH!!" Zain fell to his knees once again, moaning as the underlying spirit resting inside of him re-emerged from the Darkness of Zain's heart. "HEHAHAHAHAHA!!! Valreki, leader of the Holy Guard. The Angelic Assassin." Zain spoke, but his voice sounded different, much deeper and threatening.

"Who are you, cowardly spirit? And what have you done to Zain?!?" Valreki spoke gallantly, removing his boomerang from his belt with haste. Zain erupted with rage, "YOU KNOW VERY WELL WHO I AM, OH LORD SCHRELDEN!! I have ben waiting for the day a strong demonic warrior would walk these lands, and now that Zain is in my control, I'll finish WHAT I STARTED LONG AGO!!!"

OOC: I already lost... I looked at your profile, and you are only level three, yet your techs are around 7/8? What the hell?

"...I do not wish to kill Zain, but it seems that I have no other choice. I cannot allow a spirit to curse the heart and soul of my ally."

Valreki knew a long fight was ahead. He already had seen the talents of this fighter at the battle of Frozen Talon, and this man was almost as masterful as the angel was himself. And, to top that off, a powerful spirit, filled with hate, was powering this already powerful machine. This was going to be a long fight. A long, painful fight. And a fight that he didn't want to fight.

His attention moved to the situation. He was up against a powerful fighter. Zain had a wide array of spells and techs, as Valreki could remember. He also had a long sword, while Valreki only had a boomerang. A large blade against a short throwing weapon. This was going to be a hard fight, and Valreki knew that. He decided that help would be necessary. But without the Holy Guard there, who could he turn to? Ah, yes. His ghost phoenix, Pulse.

"Pulse, I need your help. Come."

Upon saying those last words, a large, semi-transparent purple bird flew over the ridge and landed behind Valreki. Valreki nodded to Pulse, and the two began their strike. "Pulse, use Crystal Breaker. Icicle Tempest!"

Pulse nodded, and spread her wings wide. Stalagmites of pure ice arose from the ground, which knocked Zain to the ground. His body was pierced in multiple places, causing him to become immobile. But that was not the worst. Valreki flew above Zain and cast Icicle Tempest, causing multpme icicles to pierce more places, as well as making him even more trapped.

"You are trapped now, miserable spirit. Do not attempt to break free, you will only injure yourself more. But, I do pity you. Spark Storm!" With a wave of his hand, sparks struck Zain, melting the ice, as well as setting his robe on fire. "Don't worry, that fire will go out if you roll in the ice." The spirit was left with no other choice. As he made Zain roll in the ground, Valreki leaped onto Zain and stabbed his back with the boomerang, then hovered an inch above the ground. Zane stood up and rushed at Valreki, blade held back. As he swung, Valreki flew under the sword, slashed Zain's left shoulder, then flew back toward the edge. There was a two-mile drop to the bottom of the mountain, and Valreki knew that he was out of reach. Just what he needed to be.

OOC: I think you'll find that it says level 13, not level three.

The injury to Zain's left shoulder merely fueled the terrifying anger held inside of the young warrior, untapped power unlike any he had experienced before began to course through each and every blood vessel, and into every muscle of Zain's body. The spirit fed on every single bad memory, the death of his mother, the loss of friends, and much worse; the hatred for his father. Zain's eyes began to glow a vivid yellow, with no trace of the crystal blue iris Zain once had could be seen. Zain bellowed, "YOU THINK YOU CAN WIN?!?! YOU HAVE NO CHANCE YOU PATHETIC ANGEL!!" He then swung his Falcon Talon down with much strength and velocity, and was so massive that part of the scythe-like gust tore through the snow with ease. Valreki noticed this, and prepared to dodge. The dodge was successful and Valreki decided to carry out another onslaught, he threw his boomerang directly at Zain then called upon Holy Light.

Zain had two attacks to dodge, one was more threatening, but knowing how smart Valreki was, it was hard to tell what one was least threatening. The spirit inside laughed, and stood still. As the two attacks hit, Valreki stood in amazement; both attacks seemingly hit behind Zain. He smirked at Valreki before looking to his feet. The snow had been trod on, but how? "Those attacks, how did they miss, you were standing still when they-" A loud laughter interupted the majestic Angel, "FOOL, Zain is a very unique individual, he can move at speeds that make it unable to the eye to detect. He, in fact dodged everything you threw at him. Oh and you may want your Boomerang back..." Zain spoke demonically, as he outstretched his hand, the boomerang caught between his fingers and thumb.

Valreki had no choice but to come forth and approach Zain, wary of a sneak attack. This was a mistake, one that the spirit capitalised on. Using the young half demon once more, he threw the boomerang at Valreki, then rushed at him with blade drawn at unbelieveable velocity. Zain began to slash at his foe, and without a weapon to deflect his attacks, suffered as each blow struck. Zain used the speed advantage to hit Valreki at all angles, seemingly phazing out and reappearing behind him and slashing, before moving to his side and slashing his shoulder. However, Valreki noticed that something wasn't right. He should have been cut to pieces in that onslaught but it was like something stopped the attacks hitting full on. He looked at his body, which only had small cuts and minimal bleeding.

Zain stood exhausted, the blue in his eyes had come back, he was back in control for the moment. "Valreki, I couldn't let him do that to you, my friend. But I can't fend him off for long, his hold over me is great, and he surpresses all the good that is in me, so I cannot - Yargh!!! NO NOT AGAIN, Valreki HELP ME!!!" Zain held his head as the evil consumed him once more. His eyes flickered yellow, and the blue aura the angel could visualise flickered black. Tears streaming from his eyes, Zain knew that his control was slipping yet again. "Please, leave me alone, don't make me do this" he sobbed. "YOU ARE POWERLESS TO STOP ME ZAIN..." The voice in his head replied, making Zain's eyes well up even more. He whispered to his ally before he gave up trying, "I am so sorry my friend..."

OOC: I swear that I posted a reply...

Anyway...yeah...I totally lost...

"You are a coward, a worthless, weak coward. You fight with dirty ways, and instead of fighting me yourself, you must control my friend to do your bidding, knowing how I don't want to fight him. So, I lay down my boomerang. You have won."

Doing as he said, Valreki placed his boomerang on the ground. It made a slight crunching sound as he dropped it onto the snow. Seeing how he had chosen to submit, the spirit walked over, and was about to kill Valreki when the angel waved his hand into the air and yelled "Spark Storm!" A violent shower of embers struck Zain, and he stagged back, red spots appearing on his body. Valreki quickly stood up and kicked Zain in the stomach, sending him falling to the ground.

"If you attempt to fight dirty, then you will be countered as such. Cover yourself with snow to heal the burns all you want, you just slowly cover yourself. Oh, wait, I can also help with that. Observe."

Valreki soared into the air and landed at the top of a snow-covered tree that was right above Zain. He started to shake the tree violently, causing snow to cascade down onto the demon. Soon, he was trapped, and a large lump showed Zain's exactly location. Using this to his advantage, he leaped onto the lump and began plunging his boomerang into the lump multiple times. The snow began to turn more red, and his boomerang, more red. Satisfied with his work, he jumped back a few feet, and cast Holy Light. A beam of light fell from the sky and struck the lump, melting the snow, as well as crippling the demon.

Zain stood up slowly. He knew that Valreki melted that ice both to mock him, and to extend the battle. He knew that Valreki would rather lose in valor, than to win in shame. "Now, what say you that we fight an honest battle? Or, do you want me to not miss next time? Just look."

Zain turned his attention to a hole made by the Holy Light spell. One foot over would have left him headless. As he was looking, Valreki threw his boomerang at Zain's back, making a clean cut to his back. "Or, as I said, we could continue to fight with valor. But, either way, I will win. Which do you choose?"

I know, I know, sorry guys :( I really am. I will be able to get it in either in the next 15 mins or tomorrow. This is because my computer at home is not allowing me to connect to the wireless network. I'm forced to use the college computer, which obviously I couldn't get to at the weekend. Would use mum's computer, but her's is on the way out and it hasn't got MS Word.

EDIT~ Got my connection working again. Not sure for how long though... Luke, I hope you enjoy.

"I shall not tolerate your childish games, oh Holy One. You will never win this battle; you shall die like many of your allies did, before my very own hand!!" Zain grittily replied, with a clenched fist, his voice distorted by the evil within. He then rushed at Valreki, blood streaming down his Falcon Talon, and began to slash ferociously at the angel. Valreki fought hard to deflect his onslaught with his weapon, but eventually making a minor mistake. Zain pounced upon this, and began to slash away at Valreki's chest; flesh and blood began to show through the now hacked robe of the Angel, which had turned a vivid shade of claret. With each hit, Valreki winced; crying out in pain as Zain laughed with glee.

He then stepped back, "CHAOS LIGHTNING!!" He bellowed as the possessed individual let off an extremely black lightning bolt, with the immense power supplied circling every inch of the spell. Valreki's body began to let off slight sparks as he was sent tumbling through the snow. As Valreki opened his eyes and looked around, he realised that his head was hanging of off the edge of the cliff. What was worse, Zain was about to come down with his sword, directly at his head.

Valreki quickly moved out of the way of the blade’s tip, which came down with considerable force. It punctured into underlying rock under the snow and was now stuck. Valreki sighed with great relief and bellowed “Heaven’s Tear!” as he looked to the sky. Upon hearing the call, Zain spun around and glared at Valreki as he persevered. He knew that if the droplet was to touch Valreki, he would instantly be healed so he darted over to Valreki with lightning pace and clotheslined him to the floor, before taking the droplet of water to cleanse his wounds. Zain bent over and clutched Valreki by the throat, lifting him up to face level, “You are no match for me…” Zain said smugly, before throwing the Angel back into the snow.

Valreki was disoriented, his vision was blurry and he couldn’t get up long enough to fight back, he had to heal, otherwise he would surely never live. He noticed the blurry figure walking away, and coming back a few seconds later, he focussed hard, and noticed Zain had his sword in his hand; this was the end. Valreki whispered the Heaven’s Tear spell, in the hope that the droplet would fall before he could be slain. Zain stood on the Angel’s chest, and readied his sword to kill him but suddenly he felt a large impact; Pulse came to the rescue. The healing water felt on the breathless Angel’s cheek as Zain clattered into a tree with great amounts of snow falling onto him.

Valreki walked to Pulse and petted his beloved friend on the face, but before he could thank Pulse, Zain emerged from the snow and struck it with a powerful bolt of lightning. “Filthy creature. How dare it prolong your agony! It will die a thousand deaths, once I’ve finished with you…” He snapped mercilessly. Valreki clenched a tight fist, his rage and hate for this spirit was overwhelming. “I have had enough of you, evil spirit! You possess my ally to carry out your cowardly deeds, and you threaten me and my friend. Prepare to die!!” He roared deeply in response, looking at the unconscious creature beside him. “Zain, if you can hear me, I am sorry for doing this, but I can not find another way.”

Zain looked at Valreki puzzled, “You still have no idea who I am? Hehehe very well, since you have no hope of living I will tell you, though I thought you would have realised by now. I am the spirit of Prage.”

Aura
July 2nd, 2007, 03:33 PM
"Somehow, deep in my heart, I knew that it was you. I could feel your anger, your hate, and your overall darkness. You must be the oldest thing in Illuyad. You lived in the First Age, where you began the demonic race because the mana drain didn't affect you. Every single demon that exists is because of you. Nobody in Illuyad is born a demon. They are transformed by the Infection, their souls corrupted by dark magic, their bodies changed. And to think that I had rid the world of your pathetic plage on humanity. Here, I will cleanse the world of your curse. I will eradicate you!"

Valreki grabbed his boomerang and began the clash. Blade on blade, it lasted without end. Every counter was met with an equal counter. Every right slash was met with a left slash. When Prage would slash down, Valreki would slash up. The battle was at a standstill. "Zain's normal power would not be enough to fight me. You must have given him power. Dark, cursed power, with your hatred for me fueling your desire for victory. I refuse to lose. I refuse to lose to the spirit of the worst demon to ever exist. I, Valreki Shrelden, leader of the Holy Guard, the knights of Krilnas, refuse to lose to you. My life will not be yours. I refuse for it to be so."

The clash continued for hours, each member hacking and slashing. The sun began to set, and soon the moon rose, giving the snow its beautiful dark blue shade. The trees were now spearheads lining the spine of the mountain, and Valreki was fighting on the side of the border between the known side, and the side darked by the night sky. The light was faint, and the boomerang's crystal edge glowed in the moonlight. Valreki laughed inside. This setting was too peaceful for either of them to die. Far too beautiful to be stained with blood.

As they fought, Valreki saw a weak point, one that he could easily strike. Valreki held his boomerang up high instead of slashing, deflecting the blow. As Zain's sword flew back, Valreki punched his stomach, causing Zain to become immobile for a slight amount of time. Valreki used this time to leap into the air and land behind Zain. Sparks flew from Valreki's hand, scorching the demon's backside. He raised his foot and kicked Zain to the ground. "I could kill you right now, but I'd rather torture you, and make you regret all those things you did to those weak and helpless people, just for fun."

Slowly, Valreki bound Zain to a rock with some rope he found. Zain was hugging the rock, immobile. Slowly, Valreki carved into Zain's skin, making sure to make the pain last as long as possible. Prage was screaming, which made Valreki go even slower. When he decided that enough was enough, Valreki slashed the ropes, and kicked Zain into the snow. "Now, to end this. Now, to end all of this pointless suffering. I will destroy your soul, so you will never be able to curse another again!"

Valreki stood on the blood-covered rock, and cast his Arcane Art. "Soul Eruption!" Beams of light soared from his body, and the all struck Zain at once. His body turned to white ash, as did the spirit of Prage. Although, one thing did remain. Valreki walked over and picked up Zain's sword. He held it to his face, closed his eyes, and whispered "I'm sorry..."

Ahhh, man... I thought I was going to have to pull out, but my internet is back for god knows how long. I will finish off the final sentence now, seeing as though I got kicked off of my college one (somebody had it booked after my hour was up).

EDIT~ Here it is....
__________

"Prage!!" Valreki snapped. "I had an idea that it was you. No other spirit could inhabit and control a powerful half demon such as Zain. You use his power as your own in a careless and destructive manner. For that, your spirit shall leave this plane... FOR GOOD!!" Valreki charged in a relentless rage, swinging and swiping at Zain. Zain, who still controlled by Prage's spirit, dodged and block every attack, yet couldn't land an offensive blow.

Each of the men fought hard and tried to catch each other in forced errors, but both of them had realised their fighting skills through fighting for so long, that they could rectify any mistakes instantly. The sword fight wagered on, neither of them were willing to give in. This was not just a battle of skill, but also a battle of wills. Valreki's heart was filled with anguish, he felt as though he had failed to rid the world of the King of Demons, and was now faced with killing his own ally. However, Valreki was blinded by rage, and Prage knew that he could manipulate him.

The two warriors fell to the snow in exhaustion, their breathing laboured, their muscles burning. Prage spoke, his devilish voice was clear yet husky "You wish to sacrifice your own friend to rid me? You are blinded by your own volition Valreki, and what would the Holy Guard think when they heard that you killed a man of bravery and virtue. They would never forgive you!!" Valreki stopped, staring into the yellow eyes of Prage's spirit with despair. He knew all too well that the possibility of that happening was likely to occur, but he couldn't think of another way to overcome this situation without resorting to murder...

As he stared at Zain's inhabited body, the yellow eyes of prage's spirit began to turn blue. Zain's soul was making another appearence. Valreki trembled, he didn't know what to do, he thought that Zain would be enraged for trying to kill him, but Zain gave a reassuring smile and walked towards him. Valreki looked to the white snow, "Zain. I-" "It's alright Valreki, Your intention's were always good. I have surpressed Prage for now, it won't be long before he reappears." Zain interupted. He continued, "I have enough time to tell you this; Holy Aura can save us both and rid the world of Prage. All you have to do is grab my arm."

"But, It'll kill you!!" Valreki replied with haste as he saw Zain's eyes flickering yellow once again. Zain smiled, "No it won't.... Farewell for now."

Valreki stood stunned for a moment, confused with what Zain meant, but then it began to become clear. Only Prage's spirit was dark, but Zain', though partly demonic, was still pure and good. "Thank you..." He whispered to himself. "GAHH!!!! SO THAT WAS THE REASON HE HELD BACK FROM RESISTING ME.... Cursed half blood, I'll finish you off before you have the chance!!!" Prage replied in an outburst. Valreki held his hand up and called "Holy Aura!! Help me dispel this- Ugh" He felt a white hot pain as Zain's sword pierced Valreki's flesh, his stomach torn by the blade's sharpened edge. Valreki was able to coat his body in holyness, and clutched tightly onto Zain's left arm. "Be gone.... Oh devilish one..." He stuttered as his vision began to fade. Zain's arm began to burn and Prage's soul escaped, allowing Zain's true aura to return. Zain caught the falling angel, lowering him to the snow slowly as he whispered, "Don't die... For all that you've done to save me, don't die now....". Valreki took one last breath, "I am too far gone, it is too late... I bid you farewell as I return to the Heavens"

Zain's eyes flooded with tears, "No.... No!!! Please, stay with me...." He sniffed, but he knew that Valreki was already dead. Tears of sorrow quickly turned to tears of rage. His whole body shook with anger as he turned to the evil spirit that resided within him. "You will die now!!!" He said forcibly and grittily. "FROZEN TALON, AID ME ONCE MORE!!" He bellowed, and before Prage could escape, another spirit clung to him; Frozen Talon came to Zain’s call. Zain powered up a lightning bolt.

"You only scratched the surface of my power whilst you were in control, I wouldn’t let you harness it all. Now you will see, first hand, what true power really is..." Zain unleashed all of his power in a blast unlike any other he had expelled. “This is for Valreki, BE GONE!!!” He screeched, as the lightning bolt struck the spirit, sparks began to ripple around Prage; his screams of pain almost deafening to hear. Suddenly the dark life force erupted in a cloud of black smoke, leaving nothing but silence. Zain sat on the white bed of snow and looked around to see that the sun was setting; turning the snowy floor a shade of orange in places. Every muscle in Zain’s body felt as though it was going to cramp up at any movement he made, but Zain wasn’t worried about that.

Looking down, he saw Valreki; lifeless and limp. This place of beauty had now been stained by the blood of an innocent angel, a man who sought for so long to find pureness and perfection, a man who vowed to eliminate the infestation of who he called “his people”. This man was killed by the one thing he fought so hard to destroy, and Zain was responsible. As he sat, his eyes welled once more, and a tear fell on the fallen Angel. “Valreki…” He sobbed, “I know this was not my fault, but I let this happen, I fell I didn’t do enough to warn you. I didn’t keep you safe, I…. I… I help kill you. I-I’m so, so sorry”

“I’ll do right by you some day…” He sniffed, wiping the tear from Valreki’s cheek, “I promise you that I will finish what you had set out to accomplish” Zain vowed and hoisted Valreki from the snow. He carried him on the long journey to Moss Rock, home of the Holy Guard; sobbing with every step of the way.
