This is probably a little more aimed towards co-Americans. Have you gotten into the MLS at all? With a team in Toronto now, I can't help myself. I finally get to watch games at 7 PM like everyone in England. It feels so weird to see soccer on so late!!! But I am partial to Toronto FC, how about the rest of you?

Ever since Toronto got a team, I am more aware of the MLS. I don't watch every game, but I try to.

MLS lacks quality players, quality pitches and above all quality football. I've watched three matches. Awful.

Gilette is a pretty good field, and I believe Dallas has one that was specifically made for it, which is the only one of it's kind in the US.

I'm getting less involved with the MLS recently, as all my favorite players are ending up in Europe because of how well they're doing nationally...

I love MLS even though it isn't up to par with European soccer. It's still exciting and I'd like to get a marketing job for a team when I graduate.

My favorite team is probably Houston followed by New England. Real Salt Lake is abysmal and its even more dissapointing when you think of Freddy Adu wasting his time there. I'd like to see Ney York play some quality teams on Tv rather than the popcorn games they've been showing. I'd like to see more of what Altidore is capable of. Thursday night's game was entertaining for me, a hat trick from a guy that hadn't scored in 63 games is fun for the family.

Edit: And as far as arenas, most of the teams without quality fields are in the process of securing those. RSL is starting theirs and I believe Houston is going to build one next to the baseball stadium.

So what the MLS isn't up to Euro standards? No one besides Lalas said that it was, and I know I certainly didn't. Doesn't mean we can't enjoy a good soccer game.

By the way, I just learned today that the Gold Cup beat the Stanley Cup (hockey) in ratings. In fact, it doubled the ratings. Like I told you guys, soccer is picking up steam in this country.

I had to watch the Gold Cup final on Univision (Spanish Channel) and it was very annoying...

I love ESPN's MLS night. Need to show better games but its still fun. I wish my friends would come watch too. :(

Just keep forcing the issue. It's what I did. They all know Manchester United now. They all also know not to watch Italian soccer and that they are a bunch of cheats. I love my friends, lol.

What's Eddie Johnson like? He's awesome on FM.

He's decent. He's a great athlete but he just doesn't have the touch.

Jozy Altidore is said to be the same mold with better skills. He's only 17. Johnson is young too though but he along with Beasely are frustrating in international competition.

Hey Joe,

In your opinion, would you say ESPN is talking more David Beckham or Michael Vick right now? This is a real toss-up.

Either way, I think the US has forgotten the name "Kobe".

I'm more pissed off that in the highlights for the Galaxy/Chelsea friendly, they didn't even show John Terry's goal. God Bless America.

I'd say Beckham overrall sine he is on more channels but ESPN is doing more about Vick since the NFL has its own show and its almost entirely dedicated to him now.

BTW: I got 6 of my friends to watch the All Star game. I explained the rules and they seemed to get into it once they started scoring.

That's true, I have yet to see JT's goal. That's ESPN for you. I want to see the first regular Galaxy game. Probably going to be more highlights of him running in a straight line than anything else.

I had tickets to the Galaxy/Chelsea game but I couldn't get anyone to go with me.

I watch MLS from time to time, just doesn't compare though. I can enjoy it at times but when David Beckham playing in LA is supposed to be the event that puts soccer on the map in America, all I can see is why the league isn't that good. Support the Galaxy just because I'm in LA though we ****ing suck this year

Houston keeps rollin' rollin' rollin' only allowing 2 shots on goal and beating Club America in Super Liga competition. Jaqua scored off a Stuart f*cking Holden cross in the first half.

Galaxy beat Pachuca 2-1, Beckham was out for this game
DC United tied Monarcas Morelia 1-1
FC Dallas tied with Chivas 1-1 on a controversial goal for Chivas.

New England and Houston drew 3-3 in a game that would have been swell to watch :(

Whats the standings? Did that win move LA up at all?

No no, that is the Super Liga. It's a competition that pits 4 MLS teams vs 4 Mexican teams. It's invitation based with FC Dallas, DC United, and Houston being our strongest teams and LA Galaxy being a gold mine of publicity. Next year will have the 4 teams from MLS with the best records.

All in all its a cool little tournament. I wish they'd show some of it on Tv but oh well.

Group A:
LA Galaxy 3
Chivas Guadalajara 1
FC Dallas 1
CF Pachuca 0

Group B:
Houston 3
DC United 1
Monarcas Morelia 1
Club America 0

And Beckham put a free kick in the side net and set up Landon Donovan on a good run to push LA to the SuperLiga Final against Pachuca.

Pachuca beat Houston on Penalties since Joseph Ngwenya thought he was Zizou... dumbass.

It was a great free kick.

I think it was ridiculous that the LA fans were growing impatient with Beckham's injury.

I think the core fans were understanding while the media and new fans grew impatient as they wanted it there and now since they are so temperamental. It's the society I live in :(

Nice to see him making his mark. It was a fantastic finish. The fans are just ridiculous. If they expect football players to be superhuman and never get injured, they might be in for a little shock.

I'm going to give a nice 2 month bump for this thread as MLS is pretty exciting right now.

The Galaxy need a point tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. They are playing a great team but they are at home. If they can manage a point, they will need to beat Chicago in Chicago over the weekend to steal the last place playoff spot from who... Chicago. This is what I love about the playoff system and its working great right now.

X-Factor: Beckham will likely come on as a sub. I don't think he should start as this amazing 5 game run has come without him in the line-up. I think bringing him in at 60-65 mins in will bring a huge spark to the team and home supporters. The game is on ESPN at 11est and 10 my time. I encourage you to watch as the Red Bulls MANY talented player like Jozy Altidore, Claudio Reyna, and Juan Pablo Angel.
