I need to get straight a few (four) different chords, specifically A, C, D, and G. I beleive I have A and C:

A: x 0 2 2 2 0
C: 0 3 2 0 1 0

But I'm clueless when it comes to D and G, but different websites keep telling me different things... So for D, I have:

x 4 3 1 2 1
2 0 0 2 3 2
x 0 0 2 3 2
x 0 4 2 3 2

Which one is right, if any? And I don't even have a lead for G, can anyone set me up with that one? It's all in standard, EBGDAe tuning, btw.

I don't think this goes in the official Guitar thread, because it's not specifically relating to my insterment, per se... But feel free to delete it or move it if i missplaced it.

I'm assuming you are taking these from the Key of C, meaning the a is an A Minor, C is C major, D is d minor, and G is major . But basically you can play the same chord in a number of ways. What I mean by this is that as long as it has the root note, and the two other accompanying notes, than it's still the same chord. So your version of A is wrong I'm pretty sure it's actually:
0 0 2 2 1 0

but you could also play it like:

0 0 2 2 1 0

or:

0 3 2 2 1 0

is mostly correct, but I think its actually:

3 3 2 0 1 0

D would be:

1 0 0 2 3 1
but thats rather hard to play so I just play it

X 0 0 2 3 1

G:

3 2 0 0 0 3

Pretty sure thats right, hope it helps. If Im wrong, Im really sorry, I just started learning how chords are made up a bout a week ago, so it's very possible I'm wrong.

Also the reason you're probably getting different results is that you aren't neccessarily looking up the same chords, you could be getting minor chords where you need majors, or any other kind of chord.

Ahh crap, I realize I didnt put C when it says is mostly correct, my bad :link:

Correct. I think... I'm not really sure, but I thinks thats the case...

I just started, like, today... I'm self taught, so the only real experiance I've had with chords is that they show up in tabs every here and there, I know nothing about Majors or Keys or any of that...

same here, I get all my info from an online source, I can pm it to you if you want. I just decided that I want music to be my career, no matter what form it's in, so I'm taking a music theory class next year and then I'm going to try to get into a mucic/arts school of some kind.

That sounds like it could be interesting... I dunno about professional guitarists, but I hear that most insturments in the strings department have rather wealthy owners, if you play in a decent orchestra... A good courier, I suppose.

If you could PM me your source, that would be great. However, if it's off of Ultimate Guitar's site, I allready tried using it, and it was not much of a help...
