Howdy,
What's the difference between these two techniques? So far, I only know that Chidori emits chirping sounds.
I missed the Tea Country arc, so I didn't get to see Zabuza and Haku. Meaning, I didn't get to see Raikiri in action. >.<

raikiri is originally kakashi's technique in which he created by himself... he taught the technique to sasuke and its called chidori cause it sounds like a 1000 birds chirpping... thats my memory at least... cant remember exact details...

Chidori and Raikiri are the exact same technique. The only reason why Kakashi's is called Raikiri is because he reputedly cuz through a bolt of Lightning with Chidori. That and supposedly Kakashi's Chakra control and experience makes it stronger then Sasuke's Chidori.

I thought Kakashi was only said to have cut through the lightning as if it was a one-time myth, not repeatedly.

yeah, it was a one time thing. it would be funny if he said "well, it's about time I go cut some lightning!" every now and then. also, he said reputedly.

That whole lightning incident was supposed to have happened only once and I think it is just a rumor though, I dont think the anime ever tells us anything else to the contrary.

heh it was just a misunderstanding of what Sephiroth said, he said REPUTEDLY, but Neo misread it as repeatedly :D
Also, just for reference Raikiri=Lightning Edge/Blade I think
And 1000 posts FTW :link:

It's either as the kanji for "kiri" can be translated as both "edge" and "blade". I think "cut" is also possible, but I can't remember which kanji it is.

I think it's Kanji meaning blade and not cut.
