Well a lot has changed in the world of Counter-Strike and GameWinners. And due to that fact, there are really no set-servers for use around anymore. Though a lot of people still own the game (and I think if given the right encouragement, would join in for a game), but those remain the facts.
I have a Steam Dedicated CS Server that I run from time to time, it's not up all the time, since it eats resources, but I can put it up just about whenever someone wants to.
Currently I'm on a USB connection given that my Ethernet card is dead. It causes my IP to rotate randomly. So these IPs aren't accurate. If you'd like to play on one of them, feel free to contact me on AIM or xFire and I'll give you the current IP.
Counter-Strike 1.6 Steam Dedicated - 75.67.71.160:27015
- We call it "Sparkys Den". There aren't really any add-ons, just what we need for the essentials. (Including a bot program, mainly so Tom and I can play against bots, but others could use them as well.) There are only a handful of admins, but the good part is, I can run everything without having to be in game. If you want the server to go up to play, to pub, to get a match. Feel free to send me an IM on AIM or xFire. I can put it up, and whether I join or not, it can be there in an instant for anyone to use.
Sparkys Den: The Vent - 75.67.71.160:3784
- My Ventrilo is also a free service, ah the wonders of the internet, eh? This one is run off my computer as well, however the VentSrv allows you the option of running the program as a background application. Therefore whenever my computer is turned ON (pretty much all the time as long as there isn't a storm outside), and whenever I have an internet connection (whenever my computer is on) the Ventrilo server is running. Most of the channels are passworded, but the server itself and one of the general discussion channels isn't. Now, because it's a free service, it only allows me 8 slots. And quite often, there's a group of GW people and their friends that are in there while they play WoW, which doesn't leave a lot of slots. However...
Sparkys Den: The TeamSpeak - 75.67.71.160:8767
- This one is a little different than the Vent in that it's not up all the time. It's only up when I need to use it, and as I don't generally LIKE TeamSpeak, that time is usually only when there's a GWPS game running. However, it too is fairly simple to put up, and has 25 slots. (It could have up to 1000, but it's limited to what my computer can do.) I have a pretty fast connection, and we've never seen any lag in the server having 10-15 people in there, so it's fairly reliable. If you need that to go up too, I'd be more than happy.
moethelawns Counter-Strike: Source GunGame Server - 129.186.89.134:27015
- This server is a Counter-Strike: Source GunGame server set up by former GW moderator moethelawn. Available to anyone operating Source, you can likely find a handful of GW players sputtering around there.
That's about it. As I said, there aren't many of us that still actively play. But I'm generally up for a game, and chatting whenever I'm able. So if you want to throw me an IM, or talk to Tom (The Eye in the Sky!) I'm sure we can all arrange getting a game going. We'll see you there!
