View Full Version : Veteran Members Usergroup

Some of you might have noticed the forums were offline briefly to "update counters". Why you ask?
We created a new usergroup. All members who have been here 1825 days (that's roughly 5 years) are now part of the Veteran Members usergroup. By default, Veteran Members can edit their own posts anywhere in the forums.
Just our little way of saying thanks for sticking around. (Thanks to Cecil DK Knight for bringing up the idea!)
Please report any bugs or ask any questions here.

Im not a vet by the official regulations, but I like to consider myself ahaed of most gamers in here. Ive really done a lot of changing here. Go ahead, bring up some of my first postings (In the Sonic forum, under the Omega series) and read some of my most recent (In the Sonic forum and KH forum) and you'll see what I mean...

Great now us ex-mods can't go "Atleast we have the power to edit" :(
I may be a vet member now, but I'm still an ex-mod. But now I have an indentity crisis. Damn.

Ya'll (ex-mods) also have a bigger PM box to make up for not being the only ones able to edit. :) (lol, in case no one has noticed yet or its not working so someone can tell me)

Does this usergroup actually exist somewhere to view? (I'm not real up on groups)

You could sort the Members List by Join Date (Quick Links > Members List > click Join Date). All those before 2001 (whatever the exact date is) should be in the group. Of course, that excludes all those who have less than 100 posts, but it gives you a general idea.
Cecil, it never hurts to try, right?
A belated congratulations to all the oldies. Enjoy your editing ability.

Now ya'll tell me...here I was deleting all my PMs so it doesn't reach the 50 mark.
These veterans though are killing us. Next we know there will be a special invisible forum for veterans....not that there is one for ex-mods or anything :paranoid:

I enlarged the PM capacity the same time I made the veteran members usergroup.

Hell, I've been here longer than most of the ex-mods. ;) If you can't beat'em, join'em...wait, that's not how that works.

You were demodded for inactivity. Inactivity demods don't go in the exmod usergroup anymore (haven't for a year + now).

If possible, can you please bring back all of PM's i've deleted over the past 4 years? If not, then... /sigh.

Stupid rule. It's as though the fact that you were demmoded for inactivity automatically cancells out the fact that you were ever a mod at all. Unjustified, to say the least. Just like some forums having the post counts off, as though the posts there don't qualify as posts.

Well, it's not the reason for the demod that they don't put you in that usergroup. It's just wether you retired or got fired I think. As for the post count thing, the only forums I know of that have post counts turn off are also the ones that are more lenient on SPAM posts, so it prevents people from posting just for the sake of posting and raising their post count.

...Which just makes the post count number every person has seem a bigger deal than it actually is. But anyway, that was just an example. And the point that I was making was that whether you were fired or retired doesn't mean that you don't qualify as an "ex-worker".

Actually, that's exactly what it means in the US. You can only get unemployement in the States if you're fired (Or if you have a job that ends, like construction). If you quit, you get nothing.
So here, it's just reversed.
You don't get ex-mod if you're demodded in any way, because being demodded is a bad thing.

Getting editing privalidges (and now the bigger PM box for ex-mods) is more or less a way for us to say thank you for putting in the effort of being a mod. But if you were forceably removed, it clearly means you weren't doing your job in a way that deserves reward.
