I mean I read the books and I realized one night I wanted to see what it's like to be in that school... and what better way to find out than start a Hogwarts Role Play? Like, on this site.... I know do! 'Cuz if you've ever played an RPg an this site you know how fun it is!

its been tried before and never really worked. although, we do have new members posting in here now so if they all want to do it and will participate we might be able to try it.

Wow. That was a long time ago, eh?
We had one a few years ago that died a slow death. If you'd like to try to start a new one, it might work now. Who knows..

That's a good idea, I like the "Friends Of Gamewinners Town"" subforum in the Harvest Moon section. I think one for HP would rock.

If you create an RPG, it's not going to immediately have it's own forum. Rather, if it gets busy enough, kut and I will ask for a forum and move the topics there.
(The Harry Potter forum actually once had an RPG subforum. It was deleted a few years ago after the first RPG died.)

died? what the heck does that mean?

You could always give it a shot in Experimental if it starts working out rather than going straight for the sub forum. Experimental basically works as free marketing for forums nowadays, and it did the last forum only game that tried it (Illuyad) absolute wonders. Just direct people to the experimental from here (though those people should already play it) and then hopefully others will join through being made aware of it. If it then becomes a forum in its own right, you might as well just make it a sub forum of here. Hopefully that'll increase traffic through this main forum too.

Became inactive.

Past records suggest it probably will. We're only speculating.

Well as with most other things it requires organisation and dedication. But if someone wants to try to make it happen, then by all means.

How? We can make threads, but not subforums.
Crazy Jamie
October 29th, 2006, 07:32 PM
You only need to make one thread in order to start an RPG. You don't need a sub forum to start it off. However, being able to edit your posts would be most helpful in order to update the first post. The RPG Room (which is where most RPGs start out) has editing turned on, though this forum does not. In that case it might be best to start the RPG in the RPG Room and link to it from here.

Can we try to keep laser beams, missing Hogwarts portraits, and the "heart" of Hogwarts out of this one? :D

it needs to be pretty real as you can get for people to get into it. There are a bunch of really good sites out there already that people may already be apart of.

I vote for substituting shines and Poland. In other news, I blame CLink and Speedy.

OK with the whole experimental thing I'm likea ll "duuhhh... *drools*" But I ttly get that there should be NO laser beams, just regular Hogwarts stuff... now i need someone to explain to me the RPG making process in n00bish sorta language (assuming I'm a n00b which ill tell you im NOT!)

If it does well in there the creator then suggests it under 'Forum Only Games' suggestions in the Experimental section. If we (being myself, Neo Matrix and Isis) think it's active enough to be given a shot, we will put it in the next experimental batch. Then the forum is judged just liked any other experimental forum. If it passes it will be made it's own in Forum Games.
However, this is different because a forum already exists on the Harry Potter subject matter (you're in it right now). As such there are questions regarding whether the RPG should start in this forum, or whether a sub forum should be made etc. To be honest I would prefer Inlé to make the decision on where she thinks it'd work best to start with, then we can go from there.

Then should somebody just post it there? And how can an RP be tested in a single thread? Well this whole testing thing is actually making more sense to me with every post! Lmao!

if it requires a few threads to happen, and people will be participating, i don't mind having multiple threads dedicated to this. i would have to confer with inlé, but i doubt she would mind either.

Course I don't. If people want to start an RPG, go ahead. I would prefer it be kept in the main forum for a week or so before one of us requests a sub-forum just to see if it gets off the ground. Multiple thread are fine. This place isn't brimming with activity. If it looks like its up and running or the threads get annoying, we'll ask for the subforum and move all the RPG threads there.

I'm new to the Harry Potter Forum (not to Harry Potter, however), but I love roleplaying. I think a Harry Potter roleplay would rock :). Now if someone would only start it...

Nevr Mind. I don't get how the RPG room works anyway. It's way better to make an RPG in a Subforum. Like FoGT.
