OOC: This is gonna be a quickie, heading into college in a few minutes.


Mr. P: Ahh, what a grand choice, that egg contains a... wait a minute… hmm, something’s not right about those eggs.

Obviously because this is the first time you’ve seen them you don’t know what he’s on about.

Mr. P: They all look the same.

With that a Smeargle walks out from one of the back rooms and wanders out of the house.

Mr. P: Hmm, that was unexpected. Well, you chose the middle egg so you may take it. I’ll tell you what it could be, it’s either the new pokemon Subomi, the new pokemon Pinpuku or a Magby. There is a little surprise in store, but I won’t tell you what it is.

You rack your brain about what in the pokemon world a Subomi and a Pinpuku, after thanking Mr Pokemon for his generosity and leaving. You decide to put it to the back of your mind and decide to continue on your way…

What do you want to do now?

[Mr. Blue!]

Kurtis: I'm kinda anxious to get to Violet. It should be morning soon, so I know that I'll get to see some good stuff there.

OOC: I'll have to update my knowledge of Johto. See what's there and isn't between the house and Violet, so bare with me.

You have a quick glance around and after a little squinting you make out a faint light just past some trees and bushes. You decide that might be the way to go and sure enough you stumble upon a patch leading through the wood towards Violet City.

You look around at the lovely countryside and watch as the sky slowly turns from a crisp navy blue to a blurred red as the sun begins its ascent into the sky. You watch as the Spinarak, Hoothoot and the odd ghost pokemon start to take shelter and Ledyba, Pidgey, and Spearow begin to rise and go out on the hunt for food. It isn't long before you hit a junction after leaving the wooded area, a sign stands before you with three arrows pointing in opposite directions, one saying Cherrygrove City 10 miles and the last two... are covered in a sticky substance, although you can see '1 mile' on one of the arrows. You look more closely when you concentration is moved to an object behind the bushes. It's that same Smeargle that was in Mr. Pokemon's house, he sure got here quick. However you cannot ponder this any longer when a loud rumbling is heard and from out of nowhere a truck speeds by and a boy hits you with a thud. You both roll across the floor and halt before dusting yourselves off. You are just about to ask who this boy is when he turns and starts to snap at you.

Boy: Why you! Why did you have to be standing there? You caused me to fall from that truck! I’ll get you for that! GO, Espeon (lv7)! Show him not to mess with me!

You: But I only…

Boy: I don’t care, send out your pokemon so I can end this quick and chase down those thugs!

After what happened at Mr. Pokemon’s house this sets off a little interest in you, but you also want to get this battle done, maybe he’ll calm down.

Kurtis: You're Espeon is beautiful. Now I will show you mine. go Umbreon! Tackle!

[Cannibal3rd]

The boy smirks as your Umbreon springs from its ball and charges towards the opposing psychic type.

Boy: I must compliment you on your Umbreon, but you will not beat me!

It looks like Umbreon is about to hit with its tackle when it suddenly flies back and you see a square shimmer in front of Espeon.

Boy: I’ve taught my pokemon reflect, so don’t think your dark type will walk all over mine.

Espeon smiles before driving a hard tackle into Umbreon sending it crashing to your feet, it gets back up though quite quickly seemingly taking little damage.

[Mr. Blue!]

Kurtis: (Whispering to Umbreon) I am in a pickle. Hm. Umbreon, keep dodging attacks. While the Reflect is up, use Tail Whip. As soon as it dissappears you'll have a short time to go in and use tackle.

OOC: Wow, college was such a bore today, glad to be back here ^^


You watch as Espeon runs after your Umbreon, catching glimpses of the reflect shimmering every so often, as it goes for tackles. Umbreon does well to dodge the attacks until it gets clipped and sent rolling across the ground. Espeon smiles again and you suddenly notice the shimmer seems a little less prominent.

You: Now Umbreon!

Umbreon gets up and leaps into the air and swings its tail towards Espeon, who seems a little shocked. The tail connects with the reflect and it shatters, which surprises the boy completely, and Espeon is slapped across the face and knocked sideways before being driven hard by a tackle sending it high into the air. You smile at Umbreon and congratulate it as Espeon comes back down to Earth, landing on its feet.

Boy: I must say that was quite impressive.

You: Reflect weakens, so your plan won’t work forever.

Boy: You know, maybe I underestimated you… still won’t change the fact that you won’t win.

Espeon darts forward and tackles Umbreon and slaps it with its tail. Umbreon quickly counters with a tackle… but bounces away again. Espeon has again uped its reflect.

[Mr. Blue!]

Kurtis: Umbreon, Tail Whip the Reflect. Dodge as many attacks as you can. Once you shatter the Reflect, you know what to do.

OOC: Gonna actually keep this short due to my lack of time on PC (look in LOA thread :))


Umbreon dives into the reflect and tail whips it, but bounces off, it's still too strong. Espeon does manage to hit a tackle, but Umbreon manages to stay on his feet. The old cat and mouse chase continues again until you notice the reflect again looks weak, you scream out and Umbreon turns on the spot, swings its tail, shatters the reflect, knocks Espeon back when the move connects and then drives a hard tackle head on into Espeon sending it sprawling backwards for critial damage + the double lowered defence. Things ain't looking too good for this Espeon, about past half HP left you'd guess at.

[Mr. Blue!]

Umbreon, it's just a matter of time. Keep it up. Watch out for strategy changes.

[Cannibal3rd]

Boy: Heh, I guess I did underestimate you. However I still have an ace up my sleeve, Espeon, hit it with a Psywave!

You just smirk, surprised that an Espeon at this level knows the attack, but you just smirk. The boy looks a little surprised by this as Espean fires off rainbow colours rings and a weird looking purple wave beam at your Umbreon. The attack hits with a direct hit, but just fades and does nothing. Umbreon looks at Espeon before leaping in with another tail whip and then driving in with another hard tackle dealing more damage. Espeon really isn't looking in great shape right now.

Boy: What the, but how?

You: Psychic attacks have no effect on dark types. I thought that was common knowledge.

The boy looks a little worried now and stares at his Espeon who is now breathing heavily.

It wasn't that smart of you to take on a Dark type trainer with an Espeon. Umby, Tackle!

Espeon has little time to react as it is driven hard with a tackle sending it back towards the boys feet. He looks down in shock before returning his pokemon.

LEVEL UP +1 FOR UMBREON

It looks like he's thinking about something before he turns to you.

Boy: We got off on the wrong foot, my name is Johnny.

You: I'm Kurtis.

Johnny: I could use your help, those thugs have been stealing items and pokemon from all around this area. I over heard one saying he got caught back at Mr. Pokemon's house a little while ago and I decided to see where they're set up. It seems they're over in the Dark Cave.

Just the word 'dark' sparks your interest here and you look up at the sign. The liguid that was covering everything as dripped off and you can just about read what the sign no says. Violet City <, Dark Cave >, Cherrygrove City V.

Johnny: Would you mind coming to help me stop these guys?

You look back at Johnny and then up at the sign again.


Here are your lucky choices!
a) Go to Violet City and let Johnny take on the guys on his own
b) Go help Johnny and get some more experience
c) Do something YOu want to do.

OOC: Wow, made quick a few stupid spelling mistakes in that last post, :blush:. Oh and number A, lol, made me chuckle, simple things simple minds ^^



You return your Umbreon and agree to help out Johnny and track down the thieves. After some searching around the road you spot the tire tracks leading down a long dirt road, at this point Johnny sends out a Ledyba to scout out the truck from the sky. This only takes roughly ten seconds before the Ledyba returns and leads the two of you through a thick brush towards the large truck from before. Right next to it is a large opening in a cliff face, not a very big cliff, but there is one… ok, so it’s more like a steep hill than a cliff. Ledyba tells Johnny that there is no one around (how these guys understand pokemon speech I’ll never know) so you both head towards the cave.

You: Your Espeon is pretty beat Johnny, I hope you got some reserves.

Johnny: Don’t worry about me. Espeon is a fairly new pokemon to my team. I found an Eevee, it evolved before I caught it, that was before I got on the truck with the thieves thinking about it.

By the end of the speech you are both standing in front of the large, black whole… and when I say black, I mean can’t see 1mm in front black.

You: Hmm, maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.

Johnny: Don’t worry, my Ledyba can take care of the dark.

With that two beams come out from Ledyba’s eyes and light up spots in the cave. (my attempt at flash lol)



Go in? Or are you having second thoughts?

Let's head in!

You take a glance at each other, swallow, take in a deep breath, and enter the dark hole in the rock face. Johnny’s Ledyba flies, making a fairly soothing humming sound as its wings vibrate/flap; calming your nerves, in front lighting up sections of the cave. You all take turn after turn after turn, deeper and deeper into the cave. Around this time you begin to realise why they called it Dark Cave, you also notice along the way a large group of Zubat hanging from the roof, the odd Dunsparce burrowing into the rocks, even Sableye. Well, you only see two weird gems looking at you every now and again so you assume it’s a Sableye. Time passes and you are both getting tired and very bored after encountering nothing this whole time. A dead end approaches and you are lost as what to do. All of a sudden, after looking around the end of the tunnel, the floor gives way and you and Johnny drop three metres onto hard steel. THUD!

Johnny: Ow, of all the things to land on, we land on met… what the?

You: Why is there a metal floor here?

Johnny: Why is this tunnel here? I know for a fact this isn’t park of the Dark Cave network… and why are there lights?

Ledyba floats down to check on its master before being returned into its pokeball. At this point your Sneasel makes a random appearance just as two of those thieves round the corner.

Johnny: YOU TWO!

Thief 1: I thought we lost you!

Thief 2: You don’t take a hint do you kid?

Thief 1: We’ll settle this right here, right now, dual pokemon fight!

Thief 2: Hehehe, I hoped you would say that. You won’t beat us kid.

You: I’ve never heard that one before.

The thieves smirk and throw a pokeball each into the air and out pops a Larvitar (7) and a Numel (8). Johnny also smirks, but seemingly at the two pokemon chosen. He throws a pokeball out and to the thieves horror a Totodile (9) materialises.

Johnny: Crunch ain’t gonna lose to those two.

Crunch (aka Totodile) does a little dance and then puts on a serious face as Johnny looks to you.

Johnny: Well, ain’t you gonna send out?

Since Sneasel is already out you turn to it… but it has gone. You look around before making a quick decision on your pokemon.

[Mr. Blue!]

Kurtis: Well, I've always been a fan of the dark. Go Houndour. Pursuit!

[Cannibal3rd]

Houndour appears from its ball already in a sprint and runs rings around both Numel and Larvitar before hitting Larvitar with Pursuit.

Johnny: Don't worry about this Kurtis. I've already got this won. My Totodile knew an egg move when Professor Elm captured it. Quite a bonus for me. Crunch...

Totodile turns to face Johnny.

Johnny: ...you know what to do. :wink:

Totodile winks back and turns to face Numel and Larvitar before taking in a huge breath. The two thieves send in their pokemon for attack, but Houndour leers at them both and they stop, just as Totodile release... HYDRO PUMP! You, Houndour and the two thieves are in complete awe as the large water spout obliterates (not literally) the two pokemon in front and then blasting the two thieves also. When the attack stops the metal is now wet and slippery, the two pokemon and KO’ed on the floor, and the two men are stuck in a wet, muddy, wall. You call to Houndour and it quickly embers the wall drying it rock solid leaving the pokemon and the thieves stuck fast in the wall.

You: I’m impressed. I’m surprised Elm would’ve allowed a pokemon of that level, to know that kind of move, and let it be used as a starter.

Johnny: I don’t think he knew.

You both turn to the thieves and walk over to them, when you spot your Sneasel shoot past one of the openings down a tunnel...


Ok, I'll let you decide what you want to do without giving you any options :D

Houndour, stay here and guard these guys. Use any force necessary. We're gonna go after after Sneasel and find out what spooked him.

As you walk towards the crossing where you saw Sneasel, you begin to hear sounds. Thinking it’s the thieves behind you you turn around only to see Houndour dishing out the leers. This isn’t the noise you hear. When you reach the crossing you look down in the direction you saw Sneasel wander, but see nothing other than a row of weird doors and lights. However you hear the noises again coming from in the room from where Sneasel wandered from.

Do what?
