View Full Version : Amuse me...

Once again I find myself bored and returning here. So... entertain me. You who think highly enough of themselves come and take my challenge.

Black pebbles against ostentatious layers of flowing white, the keys of a celestial instrument push forth upon the universe a simple melody. So simple that ears not searching for it specifically dismiss it as static. Yet, his fingers press the notes that travel out into oblivion and into infinity.

He sits before the machine. Flowing platinum blonde hair encroaches upon a bloodstained cloak that most of the creature. Yet, his wings, his face, and his hands remain to be scrutinized.

Beautiful white wings... immaculate from a distance and even more stunning closer. From heaven he fell, yet he never left the ground.

His face... scarred yet perfect. His skin a beautiful ivory that cannot hold mars upon it. Underneath the visage there is pain, the buzzing droning sort that is scorned and forgotten. Beneath the mask there was hope... now his sharp cheeks and ice-blue eyes convey nothing but contempt.

His fingers... beautifully adorned by the same skin, yet they have eroded unlike his statuesque face. Harsh red lines run up and down the long fingers, but they do not ruin the music. They have been trained to keep tune amidst all the killing and all the ruin.

His left hand strums away simplest melody lines while the right forcefully strings together chords that enrapt the mind in soaring thought... the echoes of a past discordance reverberate harshly as the harmony rends him in two.

Yet, he does not even move his hands at all. This piece has long echoed in his mind, but he has been reluctant to play it upon the instrument. He dare not cause discordance with the aria that has been playing across the universe.

He laughs when he thinks the last thought to himself. 'Universe? There is no such thing.' He returns himself to the reality that he imagined himself away from. The nightscape around him contrasts remarkably with the brown cliffs overlooking the steppes below him. A black wind howls behind him, sweeping agony into the plains below.

Lucifer steps back from the edge. The grass below him dares not to cry out from the weight of his feet, the weight of the burden that he has forced himself to carry. He searches onward for what he has lost, the vision of beauty - his ideal. The shrill wind screams at his back, yet he does not turn into it. All around him he hears sorrow, and he realizes that there is no escape here...

It has been awhile, Mori. I trust that Japan is going well for you. I've been there twice in the past six months... I'm in love with Kyoto. I've spent total two weeks there now.

Heh... Shino would appreciate it... I don't know if we ever finished our last fights. Nor you and I finished our most recent fight... *shrugs*

Aye, Japan has been going well. We've been out to sea the last 3 months though and are only just now approaching home again soon. We'll only be in a month or so and then we're back out for 2. Give me a holler when you're on your way back next.

I'll try to do so.. last time I was in was rather unexpected, though, and I ended up staying with some friends of mine around Yokohama. Probably this summer if I do go.

And... no takers on my fight? I'm so disappointed.

Our home port is Yokosuka and we're headed back there now. Actually, we'll be there in less than a week. This last cruise has been about 3 and a half months, though it felt more like 6. :(

If noone takes your challenge in three days' time, I'll give it a go with you Auron.

Wow. Just...wow. I've never seen such a damn good RPer, LP. 120 rpb kills? I can see why. I was tempted to take this challenge at first, but then I kept reading and got scared sh*tless. Have you ever even lost an rpb match before?

P.S.- Do you write novels for a living, because it sure as hell seems like it.

He registered in June '01, back when we had the old RPBing here where if you had 10 posts (usually) in a clan war, you could kill somebody. At least, that's how I vaguely remember it. I only did one war like that, but I remember getting like 4-5 kills in it. So it was really fast and easy to get a kill. Though I'm sure that only counts for part of his kill record. ;)

Anyway, how's 1-2-1? I'll have my intro up sometime soon...

1-2-1 works for me. We can always continue if we feel that the fight is good.

BoS... heh, I've got a couple things published, but they're just poetry. I'm still a student.

And, MSX... bring it. :p

Heh... that was a long time ago. Back when we had the old wars...

I think that you and I have done this before, Yue. :p I remember you from the old days.

I do hope that my opponent hurries back... I was rather fond of that piece, and I would hate to see it go to waste.

Don't feel bad Luci, he had to skip out on me in the tourny. So before anyone else has the opportunity to jump in here(ha ha BJ :p ), I'm going to slide in and make use of your intro. I need the practice for the tourny anyway. I'll have something up in a day or so.

It's alright, SSJ2. I hope that everyone goes well with you.

As for you, Panther... feh, fine. I'll make sure to get you back for your comment in the tournament thread. I think you already know what to expect.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cath raised an arm to shield his eyes from the torrential winds that beat down upon him from the cliffs beyond, his emerald eyes searching the path before him. The grasses of the plains danced furiously at his feet as if they strained to break their bonds of the earth in search of a more comely residence than this windswept plain. The scent of a forthcoming rain was evident as it traveled freely amongst the tides of air. Cath stumbled slightly as his foot broke through the earth at the outer rim of an animals subterranean lair and curse aloud to himself as he shook the debris from lacing of his leather boots. Bending at the waist, Cath dropped a scarred hand and likewise brushed off the leg of his simple black trousers. Each flick of his wrist sending a ripple of activity beneath the flesh of his thick forearm. Standing once more, he realigned the sheath that settled betwixt his scapulae. From it protruded the leather wrapped hilt of a longsword.
As Cath walked once more, the winds took a sudden bitter chill that made him want for more than his short sleeved wool shirt. With each step he took towards the cliffs, the winds seemed to grow more and more so into the likes of a maelstrom. And then no sooner than the thought had passed from Cath’s mind, all fell silent. The suddenness of the change caught Cath at unawares as it caused him to stand dumbstruck. The grasses around him sprang back into a vertical livelihood as he ran his bare hands over his face and smoothed head. Spinning in place, Cath slowly regained himself and began to take in his surroundings. For nearly an acre on all sides of him, he found that all was well. Yet beyond that boundary the windstorm screamed on. Disturbed, yet unsure what to make of the situation, Cath began to slowly make his way forward once again. Then with an eerie and sinking acceptance, he realized that his safeguard from the storm moved with him. A sense of dread crept throughout his veins as he began to search for what or whom might have the ability to control the forces of nature as he had been witnessing thus far. Cath searched with a piercing gaze the horizon all about him for naught. Then, as if beckoning his attention, lightening blasted the mount to the north followed by a clap of thunder that shook every fiber of his being. Cath looked upwards and found finally that of which he searched. Against the inky sky shone a single radiant speckle of light that, even with his keen sense of sight, Cath could not distinguish what the being was. It stood as if it were a man, yet the flowing lines of outstretched wings also flooded Cath’s visage.
Cupping his hands to his mouth, Cath called out to the being. Standing there in wait for some type of response, a shiver ran full course up Cath’s body. As the moments seemed to stretch on into eternity, movement could be seen. The figure raised a single arm and the storm recoiled from its dance in the plain and collected solely between Cath and the mount. Cath cocked his head sideways as he once again became entranced by the sight of the controlled storm. He looked up to call out once more to the figure, yet as the words began to form in his mouth, the arm dropped and the storm blitzed forward in a concentrated mass. Cath watched as the grasses in front of him were obliterated in the path of the wind. Cath made to leap away, yet thought too slowly. The blast caught him midair and hurtled him tumbling backwards across the plain. Pressing himself to the ground whilst grappling meekly at roots to hold his ground, across the plain rolled a rich and melodic laughter. Once the brunt of the blast had passed, Cath dared to lift his head. In the faint distance, he could see the figure descending the cliffs. Cath drew his blade and stood to face the entity. It’s polished steel glimmering in the ill remaining light of the day. His blood flowing hotly through his body for want of answers as to the unprovoked attack, and the blood of the being had the need arise…
