NFL Pick'em

You have one 'bye' week. If you miss a week, you won't have an 0/16 counted against you, as the bye week will be applied to it. However, if you miss two weeks, you won't have another bye week to cover the second week, and you'll get an 0-for in that and any further missed weeks.

If you are able to pick for all 17 weeks, the bye week will be applied to either your worst week (% wise), or any particular week you so choose.

Standings Before Bye Weeks are Applied
Yue..............161/256 62.9% (12-6)
Insane man.......161/256 62.9% (11-7)
Cipher27.........159/256 62.1% (12-6)

TheDukeOfBoston..158/256 61.7% (12-6)
cartman125.......154/256 60.2% (12-6)
*Alu.............143/240 59.6% (10-6)
Rick52...........152/256 59.4% (13-5)
James89..........151/256 59.0% (11-7)
smashbro14.......150/256 58.6% (12-6)
Quagmire.........147/256 57.4% (12-6)
Gabby Jay........147/256 57.4% (10-8)
BigDaddy.........147/256 57.4% ( 8-10)
Freakish.........145/256 56.6% (11-7)
*Dan_Dunn........129/240 53.8% ( 7-7)
*Velocity........119/240 49.6% ( 9-6)

Monday Night Records shown
* indicates the use of the bye week
(#) at the end indicate weeks missed (after bye)

The following is after everyone's bye week, if unused, is applied to their worst week of the season. Seedings and such are determined from these standings, not the above ones.

-----------
Standings updated. Close race for the final spots, as well as the #1 seed (which went down to a tiebreaker).

The playoffs will be handled in the following fashion:

The top 12 seeds will face one another head-to-head, top 4 will get byes for the first week. In this way, there'll only be 2 left come time for the Super Bowl.

Each round, people will not only pick the winner of each game, but also the score. Chances are, they won't get the score right, so they'll gain points for each team depending on how close they were. For instance, if they thought Chicago would score 23, but they actually score 30, that's 7 points added to that person's score. If you get a pick wrong, the point difference for the two teams in the game you got wrong is doubled. So, using the previous example, you now get 14 points tacked on instead of 7 if you picked Chicago to lose but instead they won.

The winner of the match is the one who has fewer points.

First round matchups are as follows:
(1) Yue, (2) Insane man, (3) Cipher27, and (4) TheDukeOfBoston have first round byes and do not need to pick this week.

(5) Crosshair vs.
(12) Gabby Jay

(6) cartman125 vs.
(11) Quagmire

(7) James89 vs.
(10) Alu

(8) smashbro14 vs.
(9) Rick52

(13) BigDaddy missed the playoffs by a single game after the bye weeks were applied. (14) Freakish wasn't as close. (15) Dan Dunn and (16) Velocity, again, were ghosts the last two weeks.

You must pick, and decide on a score for the following four games. They must be in before Saturday:

Kansas City
Indianapolis

Dallas
Seattle

NY Jets
New England

NY Giants
Philadelphia

If there are any questions as to how this works, feel free to ask.

Those would be correct. Allow me to rearrange those scores in terms of matchups:

Crosshair: 55
Gabby Jay: 51
The Dallas game really hurt Crosshair, as he lost more points in that game than anybody else. Conversely, Gabby Jay was nearly spot on with his pick of that game (21-17 he guessed, instead it was 21-20). Who knows what'll happen tomorrow given their picks for those games.

cartman: 45
Quagmire: 57
Quagmire has both New York teams winning tomorrow. For him to win this matchup, he'll probably need both of them to pull through unless something else screwy happens.

James: 37
Alu: 76
Unless some pick changing is made, this matchup is pretty much done, as their picks for tomorrow's games are similar.

smashbro: 56
Rick: 61
What's keeping this matchup close is not only the fact that I was super close on how many Indy would score (off by a single point, though I was way off on KC), but also how badly smash was off with Dallas (picked them to win, and was off on their score by 11). He, too, has both New York teams winning tomorrow, but he has the Giants winning 34-10. So, basically, his accuracy on that game will determine the winner of this matchup.

smashbro14
January 6th, 2007, 11:37 PM
... thank you so much for telling me that I had the Giants winning. I'm guessing we are allowed to change our picks, so if we are, then I'd like to change mine to:

Eagles: 34
Giants: 10

I don't know why I had those mixed up before...

Okay, on account of the Patriots scoring when they shouldn't have, and this game was really won by like 7 points, I need 27 points more than Rick in the last game. So I have to change my score to...

Eagles: 28

He took your scores you had written down for each game and how ever many points you were off that was the score. But the score was doubled in a loss so if you picked the jets over the pats and had the scores as 24-21 which you wwould be off 8 for the jets and 16 for the pats which would be 24 but you picked the jets who loss so the score would then be doubled.

Rick52

Midway point analysis:

Yue: 47
Gabby Jay: 54
This is a close one thus far. The more points Seattle scores, the higher the advantage for Yue, but the Pats-Bolts game could very easily decide this one.

Insane man: 46
Rick: 71
IM was the only one to pick the Eagles (lost 14 pts), but I picked a horrible score (lost 11 pts), so I'm still really behind, which peeves me really. I basically NEED the Patriots to shut down LT and the Chargers, which is possible given its the Patriots, but still not that likely.

Cipher: 39
James: 47
Cipher is the lone man taking the Seahawks. That will most likely decide this match.

Duke of Boston: 39
cartman: 31
Since these two have the EXACT same score for the Pats-Bolts game, Duke will need the Bears and Seahawks to score a lot of points to get the win.

James89
January 13th, 2007, 10:40 PM
As long as the Bears win I am in good shape. Although Grossman does scare me, I am kinda confident.

TheDukeOfBoston
January 14th, 2007, 08:59 AM
I need Chicago to win with a minimum of my score, or higher, and I win.

Edit: If I'm doing the math right, I think I've just squeaked out the win, no matter how the rest of the Chi-Sea game plays out, though I may be wrong.

Let me just say that my pick for the Colts/Pats games isnt what I really think. No smash, our "discussion" last night didnt change my mind. I think the Patriots will win the game, but just incase they dont, I have the Colts picked.

Final scores:

Yue: 36
Rick: 63

Duke: 106
James: 85

So, this sets up the finals. To pick the score of Super Bowl XLI:

The top seed, the guy who has been tops throughout the entire year: Yue.
The hot guy, who's been stellar in the postseason: James.

Pick on.

At least I know I didnt get here by come fluke, I went 8-2 during the playoffs (technically 7-3 since I though that the Pats would win,) had the least amount of points in the wildcard round, and the 2nd least in the divisional round. Conference round I blew, but all that matter is I am in the Super Bowl.

I'll have a prediction probably the Saturday before the Super Bowl, but my early indiciation is the Bears over the Colts.

OK gala, adjust your score approiatley. Theres no sense in waiting any longer to post my prediction. Here it is.

Bears will beat the Colts 28-25. Urlacher will be named MVP with 15-20 tackles and a few memorable plays. Grossman will have a good game. Manning will play good too but will have a turnover that gives the Bears the deciding points.

If I call all of that right, then I'm just awesome

lol I have no clue on the score. Urlacher will be stellar in this game but the game will be run by his inability to be everywhere. The Bears frontline will start to falter and a long drive by the Colts capped off by a Vinatieri kick will seal the deal. Hester will be big and Berrian will catch one deep for a TD but Wayne and Utech/Fletcher/Klecko will all make the big plays for the Colts that are needed to win.

Colts: 28
Bears: 25

Suffice it to say, Yue won. I'll have the exact score in a few minutes.

Edit:

Yue: 9
James: 30

Congrats to Yue, who was top man in Pick'em all year long.

Well, I'd just like to say that I was fortunate that my team did so well this season. If I had been a fan of somewhere like Detroit or Oakland, I don't I would have won this season.

Mateen Cleaves and Koy Detmer owned college, so HA! ^_^

lol jk. Glad you tried for the upset because it had come down to closer score... doubt I would have won.

I figured you would pick the Colts, so might as well just make it straight up Bears win I win and Colts win you win.

And lol at your college joke.
