I was modded before Inle even joined this site...
Um. I was nominated a few days after kut joined this site. It used to take a long time for nominees to become mods.
I think you have to apply to be a mod...or ask one of the mods to mention you to the admins or s-mods...not sure.
Usually, if someone is needed, mods nominate members for the forum they mod. That person has to then pass a vote.

There are exceptions, such as forums only games which are popular enough to become forums of their own: their founders are nominated so that they can run the forum and the game, and unless there is something really objectionable about them, they usually pass.

This entire spiel has been implicitly about how Alec got cheated out of becoming a mod for this forum ages ago because he edited a post in a knowledge quiz which was the current mod's way of choosing a nominee. (See the posts that I just split off.) At the time, editting posts had no edit time attached so he could not prove that he had answerd first. Now he just refuses to edit his posts and uses said bygone dramallamatrauma as an excuse.

First I forged the One Bong©. It controls the lesser bongs and helps purify the product. It also makes a cool whistling song and can alternatively be used to make a mean bread pudding.

Spike has Australia (for now) and has tried to attack New Zealand several time to no avail. He's also duking it out over the Middle east and the Indian subcontinent. Prognosis = not good.

I have South America because Alec has left me in charge of running the business, most of the southern US, as well as New Zealand because i rule over Middle Earth with my pet Balrog, Frank. Frank keeps invaders out for me. Spike still doesn't get it. I also have the UK and Northern Europe for reasons unknown.

Alec has most of the rest of Europe (Central, Southern, Eastern, Franco-Poland except for France because he claims that me owning France is like Vichy being a sovereign state :grr:), NorthAfrica, and is making a drive into Eurasia, hoping to suceed where Hitler, Napoleon, and the like failed.

You have Central, South, and East Africa and are fighting with Spike over the Middle East and most of Asia.

GP has been fighting with Spike in Asia. Oh yeah. And Canada and Alaska. Spike has recently forgotten the world is round and was obivious to military buildup in Alaska, so GP is making headway into eastern Asia.

You realize that diamonds are of minimal rarity but have been hoarded so they don't reach the market. This is why they have value.

However, if you were to flood the market with them to pay for something, they would devalue, so you'd have to pay more and your original stash would be worth less.

a) if everyone has a diamond, they are not valuable. if every diamond is in a safe except 2, then those 2 are worth more. if you take them all out of the safe to buy the middle east, they are all worth less meaning you have to use more of them. with more diamonds out there, the ones you still have are worth less because more people have them
