The Council of Sages: A New Opponent

It's been 52 years since the destruction of the Defiance. It's been 42 years since the falling of the Sorcerer's Legacy. It's been twenty nine years since the Black Rose was destroyed. And it's been fifteen years since the removal of the Kazutan Empire. But, as people say, all good things must come to an end.

Far to the east of the council countries, a smaller group of countries, seven to be exact, are being ruled by a group of powerful tyrants, known as the Board of Ministers.

Unlike the Council, the Board completely rules the countries. Each country is led by a member of the Board, a minister. Like a sage, a minister had almost unmatched power within an element. But, the ministers are evil, and they care nothing about the people of their country. Except for one.

One minister, the Minister of Ice, the leader of the country of Irasa, wishes to truly help the people. Five years ago, he requested the board allow an election to be held in Irasa, to elect a leader, alongside the Minister. The board denied his request, but he tried it anyway.

Three people were in line for the position, and each had a running mate. A week before the election was to be held, each candidate was found dead, killed by different means. One was drowned, one was burned to death, one was suffocated, another was found to have been buried alive. Each candidate was killed by a minister. The board was furious with the Minister, but they did not take any other actions, and the minister unwillingly continued to follow the board's guidelines.

*Simoya is an independent country. Adoval has a very strong government therefore not needing a sage. The Sage of Adoval, in this Case, the sage of Fire, became chancellor of Simoya (After being a secretary of Foreign affairs, and being popularly elected), and now the Lord of Fire assumes the role as ambassador to Adoval.

**Brynn is a territory of Aryanna, and has a fairly developed government. They have their own Prime Minister, who is selected by Brynn Parliament. However, all laws and other matters must be approved by Arynian Parliament. They are currently debating about possible separation.


Sages:

A sage is an extremely powerful person who excels in one element. Although more powerful within their own element, sages may perform minor magic in other elements (Ex. The sage of water burning something). Sages are also completely immortal. They cannot die under any circumstances. However, their immortality and powers can be removed if they resign, fail a vote of confidence, or are impeached. Sages remain looking the same age that they were when they became sages.

Each sage has a deputy, known as a lord. Lords have basic immortality (They live much longer than normal people, and many wounds that would normally kill a peron won't have as great an effect). They also possess powers within the same element as their sage, although, they are limited to that element, and thier powers are much weaker than that of a sage. They assume the role of a sage should a sage resign, get voted out, or impeached.

It was a rainy day. Clouds were overhead, blacker than the night. Rain poured like a waterfall. Thunder boomed like a cannon. And in the capital of Avon Rae, The sages were having a rare non-annual get-together.

They had come here to discuss Alexander Hudson, the Sage of Fire. Now, unlike the other six sages, Alex was the only one who did not reside in the country he was assigned to represent.

Forty Five years ago, Robert Williams, Avon Rae's Prime Minister, met with Alex to discuss a matter of great importance. Robert had planned on resigning due to health, and it was his job to choose a successor. Most times in history, the deputy prime minister was chosen, or, in the other, rare occurences, the president of the senate was asked to step up, both of which are 2nd in the line of succession. However, a third person would be allowed. The sage. He spoke with Alex, but, Alex couldn't serve as Prime Minister without quitting the council, and he couldn't resign without being granted immortality, otherwise, he would perish. So, he rejected the offer.

Shortly after that, Dr. James Hoyt, Chairman of the Board of Simoyan Ministers, and the leader of Simoya, approached Alex. A recent minister had resigned on short notice, and they needed someone to fill the position, as elections had just been held a year prior. Alex had recently resigned as Chief sage, and was pronounced Sage of Adoval, which, had finally assumed their own government. Alex decided he would assume the position.

Fifteen years after serving three elected terms on the board of ministers, a vote was held whether or not to elect one leader instead of five. The vote was approved with only three hundred people saying no. Alex was nominated as the candidate for Chancellor, along with another minister who nominated herself. No one liked her, but they knew she was good. Still, Alex crushed her in the election and she later killed herself.

But now, The other sages were becoming unhappy about how they spent more time talking to the Lord of Fire instead of to Alex himself, who was supposed to be representing Adoval, and staying out of Simoyan Politics. (You can tell that he didn't listen).

Now, at the meeting, they were finally going to give him an option...



Lauren started out the meeting by standing up from her chair and speaking to him. "Alex, we know that you have been serving in Simoyan Government for the past forty-five years, and, frankly, we're not that thrilled." Others nodded their heads. "We put up with your other duty because Zelda told us to. But, since her resignation last year, we will no longer stand by and let you boss us around!" She told him. She absolutely loved Alex (In a friendly way), but she was sick of Alex doing whatever he damn well pleased.

Alex slowly took a moment and looked around the room, all eyes on him. He placed his hands on the arm rests and pushed himself up. "Lauren, I have faithfully served this council for the last 190 years... And helped them through four enemies, three being some of the most deadly in the history of the council! Without me, they could have NEVER defeated the Defiance." He looked at Kaishen and motioned to him. "Me and Kai were the REASONS the Sorcerer's Legacy was dismantled." He glared at Lauren. "I'm the reason that Katrina is dead! I'm the only one that was able to find her headquarters!" Finally, he looked down. "And I'm the reason that the Kazutan empire is no longer in existance. All of them, except for Kai and Zelda, seemed to not care. They told me that it wasn't their job to interfere with government. And you know what? I said screw it. I spent two years researching the empire. I found its weaknesses. I found its strengths. And I'm the one who finally went down there and killed Empress Caterine! All whilst being the damn leader of a country!"

Alex knew that none of that mattered to say, but it would at least soften them up a little bit. After all, Alex, with the exception of Kai and Zelda, was probably the most useful of sages in the last two hundred and fifty years.

Lauren stood up again. "Alex, Simoya is NOT a council country! You have no business being there! If you wanted to run for Adovian Office, then we wouldn't have objections, as you would be leading the country you are SUPPOSED to represent! Instead, we get reports from your deputy instead of you..." She sat back down, pissed.

Alex thought for a moment and spoke. "You're right. Simoya is not a country that we control. But, nothing goes on in Adoval... I checked. Last year, we had two HUNDRED communications come from Kai in Axonia, regarding certain issues. Adoval, had less than ten... So, if you want to tell me, that I should abandon close to nine hundred thousand people to represent a country that doesn't even BOTHER with the council, then I'm sorry, but I don't care..."
He sat down in his large, wooden chair.

Another sage stood up and spoke. "Alex, I have nothign against you, I merely think that since Simoya isn't a member of our union, that we shouldn't have anyone involved with their politics. That's all..." He sat back down.

Alex, once again, stood up. "In the last six elections, I have defeated the opponents by a margin of more than fifteen percent. If you look in Avon Rae's Prime Minister's Race, no candidate has every achieved more than five percent. The people WANT me to be their leader. They know I have experience, and they want to see me continue as Chancellor."

Lauren spoke without standing up. "But what happens when your terms expire? I mean, Simoya has a constitution. Don't they have a limited number of terms that the leader can serve?"

"Yes, the limit is three." He paused. "But if Simoyan Senate agrees to let the candidate run again, then it's not breaking any law."

Lauren looked at him, unhappy. She liked getting her way, and this wasn't going too well. Alex was making Valid points, but she still wanted him to be their ambassador to Adoval.

One of the newer sages stepped up and asked, "Why don't we just limit our relationship with Adoval and have Simoya join the union?"

Alex was about to call him crazy before he really thought about it.

Why would it be so bad? They would get increased funding, they would get more military support, and they could still have their chancellor... But, then, who would be the sage?

Lauren looked at the ground and thought it over. "Nothing bad could come of it. Alex could continue to be chancellor, and he could assume the position as Sage as well... Simoya has grown in population, around 850,000 in the last forty years... Why not?"

She looked up and said, "Alex, we're going to have a quick conference. Would you mind leaving the room?"

Alex merely shook his head and stepped outside the door. She's actually considering it...

Kai stands up and looks at everyone.
"I know that this issue is important to everyone here, and Alex stated the most valid points possible. I have been a sage for about 175 years. Other than Alex, I have been on this council the longest. But with the problems with the eastern countries we have, we need as many countries under the council. Axonia has had many friendly relations with Simoya. I myself have gone and spoken at rallies. Simoya as a council country would benefit everyone. That is all I have for now." he finished speaking and he sat down.

Boy: READ ALL ABOUT IT! THE COUNCIL'S DROPPIN ADOVAL AND BRINGING IN SIMOYA INSTEAD!

The newspaper boy circled the entire town throwing newspapers in as many open areas as he could. It was quite early in the morning, and the boy was met with a few curses and swears, but after picking up the paper the people became filled with interest.

Man: No way, are they really dropping Adoval? Do they have the power to just drop a country like that?

Woman: These are all rumors. It clearly says here that the leak of information was incomplete. Maybe their just cutting down control in Adoval to pay more attention to Simoya.

Suddenly the paperboy's tire pops and he falls off, scraping his knee and dropping tons of newspapers in the process. He tries to get up, but immediately feels the pain on his knee. He feels a hand on his shoulder and he looks up to see another kid offering his hand. THe boy accepts and is helped up.

Riu: You alright? That was a pretty nasty fall.

Boy: I'm alright.

Riu: You sure, I could've sworn you skidded about 2 feet. That's a world record!

Boy: Hehe, I guess I could use a little rest.

Riu: Come with me, I've got some spare soup if you want.

Riu invites the boy into his tent and serves him a bowl of soup. The boy gulps it down without the slightest delay and langes with a satisfied look on his face.

Boy: Wow, that was great. What was it?

Riu: Otter soup.

Boy: PFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!!!!!!!!

Riu: Just kidding. It was chicken. Sheesh chill out.

Boy: Haha sorry.

Riu: So what's the news this week?

The boy tells Riu of the information leak from the council and how his sources managed to get that info. to the public. Riu listened intently as the boy spoke.

Boy: You see there's this 'guy', can't give out his name. But he gives this other 'guy' I know information on current news in the council. He tells another 'guy' who tells another 'guy' who puts it in the newspaper and that's where I get my work from.

Riu: I see, so you must know alot about what's going on.

Boy: Psh, that's an understatement. I know much more than what's put on the newspaper.

Riu: Do you think you could let me know?

Boy: For another bowl of soup... I'll consider it.

Riu: You got it!

Rilita stood up next "I know I am new to this sage group, only three years, but I do not think that matters. I have not yet seen the land of Simoya Adoval in our cases yet I've heard that the land of would be good in our council. I shall agree with my peers that we drop Adoval and gain Simoya. That is all." She sat down looking pleased with herself.

While Alex was making his point's, David had sat quietly and watched. He had only been a sage for six year's but this was probaly the first intresting thing to happen in his career. David was listened quite intently to both side's of the argument. And when the suggestion of simoya becoming part of the union came up, he knew he was witnessing history in the making.

Alex paced slowly outside the council room, his arms folded.

What are the chances that they would actually do it? I mean, yes, Simoya is becoming a larger country, it'll probably break a million before the year is up, then it will probably break four million within ten years... But, I can't picture Lauren authorizing the reduction of Adoval from the union. If they're reducted, they no longer can get support, financially or military, they can't be included in certain sage activites, and so many other things. But, Adoval IS almost entirely independent anyway... They already have four leaders... Let's see, their David Green, Premier, Alanna Cordiev, Prime Minister,...

As Alex thought of who else was involved with the Adovian government (Prime minister Silvia Aktal and Chancellor Jake Phelps. The Chancellor was head of the judicial branch, and the Premier was the head governor next in line for any of the positions.)

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Alex's cell phone started to ring. Fifty years ago, when all of this technology existed, the sages didn't really care to go into a truly modern age, but, now, computers and cell phones and other things were almost neccesary.

He flipped up the top and held it to his ear.

Alex: Hello?

Secretary: Hello, Chancellor. I need to know when you're going to be back...

Alex: *Confused* Why?

Secretary: We're facing a bit of a crisis here...

Alex: *Slightly worried* What KIND of crisis?

Secretary: Well, the secretary of Education isn't answering his phone or any other means of communications. And, well, apparently, there is a HUGE story going around about Simoya possibly being the next country to join the Council union...


Alex paused for a second. How the hell could anyone know!? We JUST talked about it five minutes ago for the first time!


Alex: Umm... Can you keep a secret?

Secretary: Umm... Yes, sir?

Alex: *Takes deep breath* The story is accurate. The other sages are in the room right now discussing whether or not to remove Adoval and introduce Simoya.

Secretary: But... The Senate would never approve!

Alex: The senate doesn't need to approve. The people will decide...

Secretary: Wai-What!? You're actually serious about this?

Alex: It's either that, or I'm forced to resign as Chancellor.

Secretary: *Pauses* Um, no offense, sir, but, it's not like you're brand new... You're the only Chancellor this country has had, and you've been here since before I was born!

Alex: Yah, well-


Suddenly, the doors opened and Alex turned around. He quickly said that he would be back hopefully later that night, then closed up the phone. He placed it in his suit pocket, as he wasn't wearing the robes he was SUPPOSED to be wearing...

He walked into the room and looked at the faces surrounding him...

And somewhere, in the back of his mind, he thought to himself, "If they get this passed, and they let me keep my immortality, I'm thinking about resigning as sage of fire and assuming the sole duty as Chancellor of Simoya!"



OOC: Kinda dumb, but, it's late. Well, I'm off, I'll see you all wednesday!

Riu stares at the boy blankly with his jaw dropped all the way to the ground.

Riu: Wooaahh... No way...

Boy: It's true.

Riu: I knew those ponies were bad news.

Boy: Well, there is one last thing to tell...

Riu: Spit it out!

Boy: Well, I'm kinda hungry.

Riu: But that's my last bowl

Boy: Ok I guess you don't want to know...

Riu: Ok ok take it.

The Boy accepts the last bowl of soup and takes his time drinking it. He finishes and drops the bowl, grinning widely.

Boy: There's gonna be a revolt here. The civilian soldiers are already getting ready.

Riu: WHAT!?

Boy: Yeah, rebels who don't like our ministers kind way of ruling. Their planning to take out town by town silently. Their gonna begin their assault in Allut and move their way across the nation.

Riu: That's horrible! Why isn't the government doing anything.

Boy: This rebel group is huge, alot of them are in each town and city. If anyone tries to contact an official it will cost them their life. I suggest you find a way of hiding. That's what me and my sources are doing. Hide and pretend to be one of them.

Riu: But... if we let this happen, they'll ruin the entire country.

Boy: It'll cost us our lives! Don't you get it!

Riu: It doesn't matter. I don't care what they try, I'll seek refuge somewhere but the governement has to know about this!

Riu exits his tent, leaving the boy inside alone. He shakes his head and starts leaving as well.

James was thinking about everything that was going on and still amazed at how Lauren was actually deciding about this.

James: This is a very hard decision.. Now I know I am pretty new at the Sage role but I do know alot about the country's.. And I know that Adoval is an independent country and all but I don't know about dropping them to leave them completely alone.. And also they would not get financial nor military support. So they would then be pretty open to an attack....
James sat back down very pleased at how he said that. And just watched at how they would react to his statement.

David: I thinkwe should do it Alex is nescicerry to the council. With out him we wouldn't even be here today.

No problem at all. All I really want is for people to post, no matter how unoriginal (Well, at least make it SOMEWHAT original), that way, we can keep this role play going. The last version died because only three people were doing it and I was the only active one.

Kai sits in his chair, pondering what to do. "Lauren, I think if it were to come to a vote, I'm going to stay neutral. Both countries are very important, but if it were possible, why not just keep Adoval AND add Simoya?" asked Kai.

Lauren sat in her chair, looking at Kai. His idea was a good one, but there was no way they could extend help to EIGHT countries... Plus, they would need an extra sage, as they only had seven sages yet eight countries. Although, honestly, Adoval was so distant by now that they could probably part with them.

There was no way the council could afford to help eight, though. Alex has come to the council to request roughly ninety million dollars for Simoyan intelligence upgrades. And whilst ninety million is just a drop in the bucket compared to what the council had, it could add up.

But, Simoyan intelligence WAS a very important thing. Compared to Adovian, Simoyan intelligence was of a much higher level. Almost equivalent to that of Avon Rae's...


Lauren: I will allow your abstention, Kai. It will allow a non-split vote, should there be one.

Kai: Thank you.

Lauren: At this moment, I don't see why we can't take up Kai's idea, even for a simple test run. All in favor say "Aye".

Lauren said Aye and then looked around at everyone else...


OOC: Short, sweet, and to the point. Although, if someone wants to have the sages have a discussion, then go ahead.

Also, I'll think of a way to get the none-sages into the story.

And about Irasa's government, many people do like it, compared with the others. They know that the minister wants to help, but can't. But, I really like the idea of the revolt... :D Nice job! :^:

Riu starts walking toward the town of Mayel's small police station. However, without his notice, the terrorist spies have been keeping a close eye on police headquarters as well as all Newspaper informants. As Riu neared the police station an electrical wave blocked his path. Riu's eyes shoor open in shock. He frantically looks around to see the source of the blast, but sees nothing.

Shaking slighty, he walks cautiously toward the station. This time he is blocked by two cloaked figures with a strange symbol running across their chest. Riu takes a step back, shaking with fear. Could this be... the terrorists...

Riu: Uh... uh.... uh...

Man: Where do you plan on going little boy?

Man2: I'm sure your not going to the police are you? You know very well they won't listen to a brat like you.

Riu: I uh... *erhem* I just need some food... th-thats all.

Boy: WAAIIITTT!!!!!

The newspaper boy walks into the scene, breathing heavily trying to catch his breath. He recovers and begins to talk, but stutters once he notices the men.

Man: Perfect, just the kids we were looking for.

Boy: RUN!

Both of the kids start running into the alley as the men follow close behind...

"Nay!" Isabelle yelled "I still don't think we should even do a test-run! Who will sage it temporarily? Certainly not I." Her eyes scanned the group with confedence as she regained herself and sat back down.

???: What are you two men doing to these children?

Man: Who the hell are you?

???: Just a bystander... oi you two kid's, get over here.

The two boy's think for a second and decide to go to this man, he seemed nice enough.

???: Names Raven, i'm a soldier, are these two doing anything to you?

Riu: Their chasing us!

Raven: Don't you worry.

Raven pushed the two boy's behind him.

Raven: You two were picking on the wrong kids.

OOC: FWI, these terrorists aren't any ordinary ones. Their extremely powerful, and by that I mean Mod-defeating powerful :P.

Man: Heh, that's right.

The first cloaked man pulls out an electrical whip and the second equips a flaming pistol. The first man nudged the second and nodded.

Man2: Each bullet of mine could cause the collapse of a building. Now out of our way, it's these kids we want.

Boy: R...RUUUN!!!!!!!!!

The kids go down the alley where they are met with the shadows of the same figure of the terrorists. The boys back away but bump against a cloth. They turn around to see they are surrounded in a narrows alley.

Riu: This isn't good.

Boy: Hey, you any good at magic.

Riu: Actually... I don't think I have a magic ability...

Boy: WHAT! Man, this really isn't good.

Riu: But I do have these.

Riu pulls out sharp edged daggers and gets into his fighting position. The boy pulls out two shields and readies to fight.

Raven: You wont hurt these boy's!

Man: We dissagree!

Raven ran at the men no weapon with him, he tried to punch one of them and they just kneed him in the stomach. He fell to his knees.

Raven: Bastards...

Man: You deserve some whipping.

He drew his hand back, then he thrust it forward and the whip came down about to his Raven when he caught it, the electricity having apparently no effect.

Raven: Big mistake... lightning is my strength.

ooc: Hope that's okay.

Alex stood there, slightly sweating as he waited to hear the verdict of their discussion...

Far away in the City of Leis, in the country of Selia, Katherine Vanidez sat in her office, talking with David, her chief of staff.

"So... There's a reporter who wrote an article in a newspaper describing how unjust things are here?" Katherine asked him.

David looked up and nodded his head. "Yes. He wrote that the board of ministers should be abolished and elected officials replace them."

Katherine only nodded her head and said, "You have him in custody?"

"Yes."

She just nodded her head again, looked down at some papers she was going over and said, "Kill him...", then motioned for David to leave.

David didn't want to give the order, but he was too afraid of what Kate might do if she found out he didn't. He merely responded by saying "Yes, ma'am", and left.

He left her huge office and walked down the hall to the elevators. He stepped over to a small pad to the right of it and placed his thumb on it. A green light scanned it and then the elevator doors opened. He walked on and repeated the process, then hit the button for Basement 2, where prisoners were held.

He stepped off the lift and suddenly felt a rush of cold air go by him. He walked down the small corridor filled with cells on both sides. He reached a cell where some heavily dressed guards were standing outside of it. Inside was a man in the corner, on the cold floor, shaking. David didn't blame him. The temperature couldn't have been more than forty in there, and the concrete floor, much colder.

David simply looked at the guards and nodded.

He turned his back as some guards entered the cell and grabbed the man. David knew what would happen next, and he didn't want to see the man's face.

They walked him down the hall and opened up a door, leading him into a huge room with a large pool, which was tinted red in the middle of it. In the water were some shady figures swimming on the bottom.

The man looked at the dark figures and knew what they were- Sharks, Katherine's "Pets". And, like all "pets", they must be fed regularly...

The first guard grabbed a bloody knife from a nearby table and ran it along the man's arm, causing a huge cut, with blood coming out quickly. They brought him to the edge of the pool, the water ten feet beneath them. They brought him to the edge and pushed him off.

Within ten seconds, his body had been torn to shreds...


The guards walked back into the freezing hallway. In the elevator, all alone, David stood there, crying...

Kai, looking at Alex and noticing the sweatdrop, stands up to address everyone.
"Alex, I have chosen to remain neutral in this so-called debate, so I will state the verdict that the council has come to. At least 3 council members have voted yes to run a "test run" by reducing council relations with Adoval, and adding Simoya as a council territory. The lord of fire shall assume the role of ambassador to Adoval, and you shall assume the position of Sage/Chancellor of Simoya. This council meeting is now over," Kai said, getting out of his chair and walking out of the meeting room with Alex.

Alex and Kai quickly walked through the Avarian Council building. Like all council buildings, each had small offices for each sage, with one large office for the actual sage of the country. Alex remembered back when he resigned from Chief sage, he had to move his office to the Adovian council building. Then, shortly thereafter, he gave his office to the lord of fire and moved his office to the Simoyan Capitol building.

Alex: You do realize how much work is going to have to be done?

Kai: Give me an example......

Alex: Well... A new council building will have to be built. We also have to speak with the Simoyan Senate and the people. Avon Rae has been basically their "Parenting" country for the past few hundred years, but... Not seven other countries. People may also not be thrilled with the idea of having a sage as the leader of the country....

Kai: Alex...........?

Alex: *Confused* Oh......... Well, I meant besides an elected official. They elected me. I don't think they'll want someone who hadn't been chosen by the people.

Kai: Well, we can build the council building if all goes well, and You'll be the sage... So, you keep your powers, and still get to be the chancellor.

Alex: What happens if I don't get re-elected?

Kai: Then you still remain the sage, just not the chancellor.

Alex: Well... I just hope that this won't hurt my political career...

Kai: Well, it may, it may not. Either way, you'll remain a sage. That's what one of the big topics was about. We need you, and forcing you to resign from Simoyan government wouldn't be a great move on our part...

Alex: I would've asked to keep my immortality and step down as sage. If they didn't let me keep it, then I would've stayed sage and simply done the job that they asked me to do. I would be miserable, but I'd be alive...

Kai: I do hate the immortality system..... They should change it.....

Alex: It was predetermined by the first council. That's one of the few things we can't change. It encourages Sages to continue serving as long as they can...

Kai: Yah, you're right...

Alex: Anywho, *Waves phone* I'm going to go call my secretary and set up a meeting with the president of the senate...

Kai: *Nods* See you later... *Departs*

Alex: *Into Phone* Hey, can you set up a meeting...........................

Kai leaves Alex and walks into his office and his phone rings. It is from the Axonian president.

"Kai, tell me what is going on. The newspapers say something about relations with Adoval being loosened." she screamed into the phone.

"Well, the council decided to release some relations with Adoval and bring Simoya in as a council country." he answered her.

"Why?"

"Because the council feels that Simoya would be a better help to the council."

"Well, I still don't like how the information got into the papers so fast..."

"Neither do I. I'm going to inspect this." he said, hanging up and walking out the door.

Alex paced throughout his office, speaking openly into the air. He had called his secretary on his cell phone, but, after getting tired of talking into the phone, he hooked it up to a speakerphone and continued using that.

Alex: I also need to meet with both governors, and-

Rita: Sir... You have enough appointments to last you through the next month!

Alex: *Confused* Why? How many do I have?

Rita: You have one with the president of the Senate, three with senators, fifteen with ambassadors, two with the governors, nine with state officials, four with your staff, and nine with the country officials...

Alex: Which totals at...?

Rita: Forty three. And, if each of these lasts even only twenty minutes, you'll still be having to spread it out over a long period of time. That is, unless, you take a short Leave of absence and have Wilson take over.


According to Simoyan Law, the Chancellor may take a brief leave of absence, provided the senate agrees, and then the Vice-Chancellor temporarily takes over until the Chancellor can resume his position. Alex had done that several times in the past. Unlike many other countries, the Vice-Chancellor ran on his/her own. The Chancellor didn't have a running mate (Although, Alex usually asked someone to run and they did).

The first Vice Chancellor was Isaac Churchill, the former minister of Education. He and the former Chairman of the board of ministers, Minister Hoyt, ran against each other. They had both agreed that whoever lost would be the winner's chief of staff. Unlike the Chancellor Candidates, they were friendly towards each other and uncompetitive.

Now, the Current Vice Chancellor, the fourth person to fill in the spot, Kayla Wilson, was a former Senate President, and also a governor. Alex spoke with her and asker her to run, which she did, and she is currently in her third term.



Alex: Who else do I have meetings with, ones that were already scheduled?

Rita: Well, you had a meeting with a couple senators, one of them you have on both lists, referring to the order of succession.


In the Simoyan constitution, The order of succession made it very clear that if the vice chancellor couldn't assume the position as chancellor, then the president of the senate would be next in line, then the minister of foreign affairs, then other members of the cabinet. Alex wanted the Vice-President of the Senate to come before the cabinet, which, he would have no trouble getting passed in the Senate. The Cabinet and Senate always worked together peacefully, although there was always a bit of competition between them. They would rather have one of "their" guys assume the position instead of the others.


Alex: Cancel the separate meetings. I'm just going to meet them all at once... And tell all the overlapping people that I will be discussing this issue along with whatever else was on the agenda.

Rita: Yes, sir.

Alex: Oh, and Rita? Schedule a meeting with the treasury secretary.

Rita: *Sighs* Yes, sir...

Alex: When I get a little bit of spare time, We should do something, just you and me.

Rita: Really?

Alex: *Smiles* Yeah...


Alex had been with Rita for the past twelve years (Politically, not romantically), and he considered her one of his best friends, at least in Simoya. Of course, he had his other political friends, but, Rita wasn't a politician and she also had a lot in common with Alex. Little did Alex know that Rita had feelings for him...

But, she knew that it would never happen. Alex had to endure the pain of letting Zelda go from the council last year. Eight years ago, she had resigned as chief sage. And, last year, she fully resigned as Sage. She had requested an extra year of life before the immortality rule tooks its place. The council approved it and she officially quit. Recently, Zelda had died in her sleep.

She knew that Alex and Zelda had been engaged, then broke up, then got back together a few years after that, but even though they weren't together, Rita knew that they still madly loved each other. And she knew that Zelda's death would take quite an effect on Alex's love life for quite a long time...


Rita: Alright... How about we go bowling? Whoever loses owes the other one a dinner at Shay's...

Alex: *Laughs* Sounds good to me.


Normally, an event such as bowling would require a couple of people from the GOPA (Governmental Officials Protection Agency) go over and secure the alley, but, Alex was one person who did not need any protection. That was the one thing he hated having, immortality. He liked the thought of living for a long time, but not the thought of being completely protected. He actually wished he could resign as sage and just live another fifty years as a mortal...

OOC: Well... Let's see... Have your character go back into his office, call the president/prime minister/premier/governor general (Whatever you want the leader to be, as long as they are elected), and tell him/her about the meeting. I can't think of anything else at the moment. I have an idea for another storyline, but that was supposed to take effect after the BoM part of the series... :(

How about you merely bump into Alex after talking with the leader and talk with him regarding your feelings on the matter?

OOC: Awwww.... :D *Feels loved* Yes, I was referring to the Sage meeting regarding the addition of Simoya. Even though the Leader isn't directly involved with the council, it's the union law that the leaders of each country be informed of all major affairs.

James went back to his office and sat down at his seat. He clicked the button on his Telephone "secretary".

James: 'Ello!

Pheobe: Hi! What ya need?

James: Could you get me the President?

Pheobe: Okay. Here you go *beep*

James: Mr.President?

President: Yes,James.

James: Yes um, I wanted to you about the meeting we we're going to have. I wanted to talk to you about the posistiob of Chairman of Peoples Council..

President: mmmm, You want me to run? To be leader??

James: Yes. I thought since you work hard enough.. You should at least run. So i say come to meeting.. I shall meet you there.

James hung up. He sat back in his chair thinking of something to say in the meeting...

Alex hung up his phone after telling Rita which bowling alley to call. That was one thing Alex liked about being the leader of a small country. People would of course run over and shake your hand, but, other than that, Alex wasn't like a god and worshipped whenever he was around people. He could go out and do things like everyone else.

He Placed the phone on his desk and walked over to a closet and grabbed a set of robes. He raised his hand and magically lowered the shades in the room. He undressed out of his suit and placed on the robes. Lauren was already somewhat pissed at him, but he didn't want to get her even more angry if he wasn't wearing proper clothing.

He grabbed his phone and placed it in a pocket on the inside of the robe. He raised the shades and left the room.

He strolled down the hallway, his being the last office in the row, then turned right and walked down a longer corridor, this one leading to the Sage's office. Unlike the other six, this one was the full time office of the sage, and was much bigger. Alex remembered being here fifty years ago. He had had a bar, a couch, a small room with a bed. When he resigned, Zelda removed almost every piece of furniture and kept her desk and two chairs. There were filing cabinets EVERYWHERE... His bar had also been removed... :(

Anywho, Alex finally reached the double doors and knocked. He heard Lauren's voice telling him to enter, which he did.

He looked around her office, which was more welcoming than Zelda's, but not as welcoming as Alex's. She had all the windows open, a small couch in the corner. A small fridge on top of a table with a coffee maker beside it, and in the smaller room to the left of the entrance, Alex saw that she had put in a couple of chairs and a large television.

He wondered why he didn't do that...

Alex: Nice job with the TV... *Smiles*

Lauren: *Turns to Face Alex* Yah... It's nice when there's nothing to do to just be able to sit back and watch a movie... And the best part is, I'm still here if anything goes wrong...

Alex: *Nods* True....

Lauren: Are you here for a reason, Alex?

Alex: Yes. And it has nothing to do with Simoya....*Thinks* Becoming part of the Union...

Lauren: *Sounding bored* What?

Alex: Well... *Pauses* Simoya has an offer.

Lauren: Which is?

Alex: Well... I spoke with the President of the Senate, the minister of the Environment, and the Minister of Housing and Population, and they've concluded that Simoya can no longer build more housing. We've simply reached our limits. Therefore, we need more land.

Lauren: *Sarcastically* I wonder where you'll get that from...

Alex: *Stays cool* Yes, Avon Rae completely surrounds Simoya. We want to purchase the Valen Plains to the west of Simoya. There's about one hundred continuous square miles, and there are two hundred and fifty square miles if you don't count the thirty people living in the area.

Lauren: And how much would Simoya be willing to pay for all of this?

Alex: Well, I'm supposed to get a number before telling you what we're willing to pay.

Lauren: First off, you don't speak to me, I have no actual power over that...

Alex: You're right. But, you are close friends with the Prime Minister, and you know the President of the Senate and Chairman of the People's Assembly pretty damn well. THEY are the three people that DO have power over that.

Lauren: I...... *Pauses* I'll set up a couple of meetings with them for both of us... *Reaches for phone* You do realize that this purchase isn't going to be cheap?

Alex: Lauren, Simoya's current Budget is up around 147.9 Billion Dollars... We also have a bit of extra money on hand, and no debts to pay. We have a FANTASTIC minister of The treasury/Budget.

Lauren: Fine... *Hit button* George, can you set up a meeting between Me and Alexander Hudson, and the......*Thinks* Chairman of the People's Assembly, President of the Senate, and, if you can, the Prime Minister. If she's not available, we'll meet with the deputy prime minister. Thank you. *Hangs up* Happy?

Alex: Yes, thank you......

Kai walks over to Alex's office, to find it empty. Well then maybe he's in Lauren's office he thought to himself walking to the office of the chief sage. He knocks and walks in to find Alex just ready to leave. "Wait." he says to them. "We have a problem. The Axonian president said that our verdict was in the papers practically right after we finished our meeting. Council information shouldn't leak out that fast." he said with urgency in his voice.

James sat in his office thinking of what to say. He then thought to himself..

James: (thinking): Hey, why don't i join up?

James sat back in his chair farther liking this idea.

James: (thinking): Yea.. This would work perfectly.. I think i'ma go talk to Alex about this and see how he feels about the idea..

James got up and went out of the room. He shut off the lights before he went. He went down 3 corridors then turned to a door on the right. He saw Kai standing there saying..

Kai: We have a problem. The Axonian president said that our verdict was in the papers practically right after we finished our meeting. Council information shouldn't leak out that fast.

James ran over there.

James: What?!

Kai: You heard me..

James: Well, that means we have a spy on our hands.. And Alex. I have something to speak to you about. I wanted to know how you felt about me joining up to be in the Chairman of the people.. ( I hope that is it). Or both of you Kai, Lauren.

[Angel]

Isabella ran into the room in a panic. Her eyes stared at the four people in fear. She raised her hand to one of the animal's tails on her outfit and pulled out a little black dot "I've been f*cking wired! Damn that assistant of mine." She threw it into the air and shot an arrow into it. She glanced at the group and fell to her knees cursing at no one.

Alex stood there, looking around at the others.

Alex: Woah... *Points to James* You want to join the people's council, *Points to Kai* Axonian Papers already have this info, and *Points at Isabella* You were bugged by your assisstant...? *Rubs sides of head* That's a lot of info to get in a couple minutes...

James: I vote Isabella's matter goes first! *Points with wide eyes*

Kai: I uh... Second.

Alex: Alright.. *Rolls eyes* Isabella, get your assisstant in here... NOW!

Isabella: *Nervously* Um... sure...? *Runs off*

Alex: *Shakes head* James, the chairman of the people's council, in fact, any position in the people's council is often a full time job. I'm sorry to say, but I have to refuse your request. *Pauses* Although, technically, it's Lauren's call, but she's going to tell you the same thing.

Lauren: *Nods* Sorry, James...

Lauren: Look, we'll deal with the matters at hand. Alex, you need to get back to Leona (Simoya's capitol), as soon as you can and speak with the officials.

Alex: Yah, but it will be awhile before I can get back to you. I have to speak with the whole senate in a couple of days anyway... The governors are getting a little pissed that two of the states have a lot more senators than them because they have more population. So, now they want to possibly set up a new sub-branch of the legislative branch... *Shakes head*

Lauren: What good will that do? You already have 30 Senators...

Alex: Actually, it's thirty-two... One for every thirty thousand people...

Lauren: Whatever... I'll let you do your business... I won't get involved with Simoyan politics unless it officially becomes a member of our union...

Alex: *Chuckles* You can name every assemblyman and Senator, but you can't even remember the number of senators in Simoya...

Lauren: Ha... Ha... Ha...

Isabella: *Returns with assisstant*

James went back to his office and paced the floor. He was thinking of more pressing matters like reducing the relations of Advol and just adding Simoya.

James: We could just go with Kai's idea. He would get my vote. Although, it would mean getting a new Sage and they just don't pop up everyday. grrr, this is getting very aggravating..

James sat down and took two Tyenols. He was way to worried about work to fall asleep so he just wanted it for headache relief. he sat back in his chair looking outside his window....

Alex stared at Isabella's assisstant.

"So, you bugged her coat?" He asked.

The girl looked fairly scared, and kept staring at differnet people, or at the floor.

"I ask you again... Did you bug her coat?" He said, sounding calm.

"No!" She cried.

Lauren shook her head and said, looking down, "You did, I can tell whether or not your lying. And no, this isn't some guessing thing, very few people can elude being analyzed."

"Yes, I bugged her coat." She said after a moment of silence.

"Why?" Alex asked, placing his hands behind his back.

"Someone paid me around five hundred dollars to do it..." She said. "And right now, I'm barely making ends meet".

Alex felt horrible about doing the following thing, but, it was necessary...

"Ms. Sanchez, as according to article four, subsection three, paragraph nine in your contract, 'No employee shall be involved in an act that intrudes on the privacy of any employee, or reveal what is said in closed conversations'. Since you broke your contract, your employmentship is hereby terminated with the council. Security will escort you from the building and a car will take you to the airport where you are to return back to your home. Good day."

Ms. Sanchez looked like she was about to burst into tears, and Isabella looked a little unhappy. Although she betrayed Isabella, she had been a good assisstant. But, she knew that that was what had to be done.

"No... No, wait! Isabella!" She said as she turned around.

Isabella merely looked at her, then looked away.

Alex walked back towards his office. That was the first person he had fired in about twenty years...

They had the meeting about adding Simoya. Alex set up a meeting with some high-leveled Avarian Politicians, and Isabella's assisstant bugged her coat.

OOC: I don't know if this will merge or not, but, I apologize if this doesn't.

~THREE DAYS LATER~

Alex briskly walked through the large halls of the enormous Avarian Capitol building. Unlike the Simoyan Capitol building, The Avarian Senate and People's assembly had their own buildings. They were very close in distance, however.

Lauren was unable to make this meeting, she had some things to do, but, Alex didn't really mind. He had met with the Simoyan ministers, the Senate, and the six governors regarding the addition of Simoya, and they all weren't too entirely thrilled. However, they found that it was in the best interest of Simoya to join the union.

He had also met with several ministers regarding the purchase of new land. They had given him a number, which he was to relay to the people he was meeting with, which he was about to meet in a private conference room on the third floor.

Alex had to meet with both the president of the Senate and the chairman of the People's Assembly because unlike in smaller governments, the Avarian houses met quite often. If the Senate didn't meet, the assembly did, meaning Alex would've been waiting for about a month before having an open day.

He went up the stairs and proceeded down the hall, where a solid oak door marked "Private" Was being guarded by a member of the building's security team. He merely looked at the guard, who then turned around and placed his finger on a scanner. A moment later, it unlocked, and Alex proceeded in.

He was a bit surprised to see the number of people here.

Drew Dorman (President of the Senate): Alex, I'm sure you're surprised to see more than just me and Christina (Christina Dixon, Chairman of the PA). In case you don't know them, this is...


Drew pointed to a variety of people, such as the secretary of agriculture, the secretary of Housing, the assisstant secretary of public affairs, and several other high-ranking officials.


Alex: Well, I can understand why they're all here... *Sits down*

Christina: Well, Chancellor, we were only told the basics about this meeting. Simoya wants to purchase a piece of land from Avon Rae to increase their size and to enable them to build more housing.

Alex: Yes.

Christina: Well then, let's get right down to business.

Sec. of Housing: What land did you want to purchase?

Alex: The Valen Plains to the west of Simoya.

Sec. of Housing: Well, I don't know if that's possible...

Alex: Why not?

Sec.: Well, there is a small town in the plains with a population of two hundred.

Alex: *Confused* Really? I was told that there were only individual houses near the borders of the plains...

Sec: Oh... Wait a min-Oh! *Looks embarrassed* I'm looking at the Venir Plains to the South of here! *Laughs embarrassingly*

Alex: *Looks relieved* Fhew... Glad that's not the case...

Sec: Anywho... *Looks at map* I don't see why we can't sell the land to them. It's not profiting us, and the people living there are only part-time residents... If Simoya was willing to buy their homes, I don't see why they can't...

Christina: How much is Simoya willing to pay for this?

Alex: Name a price...

James got up and went outside of the building. He took a walk without guards.. He didn't need them. So he walked around the block still talking to himself..

James: What shall we do!? I know what i will do.. I will stop talking to myself!!

James was halfway around the block when he said that. So he went quiet and walked back to his office. He layed down on the couch and closed his eyes.. James awoke 3 hours later..

James: Huh? What ti-- 3 hours!

James put his head back on the couch and was trying to wake up. He got up a few minutes later and got some coffee. He drunk the whole thing.

James: Whew.. I'll stay awake until 2 days from now!

OOC: Sorry, I actualy don't have anything right now..

Alex sat alone in the conference room with the members of the government for quite a bit of time...

Sec. of Housing: Well, everything is fine with us, but you must still have this approved by the Senate and also with either the Prime or Deputy Prime Minister...

Alex: Well, I have a meeting with either of the two ministers, I'm not sure which yet, and how long would it take to set up a session in the Senate for this topic?

Senator Greene: It would take about a week before anything official were to happen within the Senate. Plus, we have some pretty big issues right now...

Alex: Such as?

Sec. of Senate: They have to vote upon a candidate for the new Secretary of Foreign affairs...

Alex: Ok... That should be done before my matter... *Smiles*

Sec. Of Housing: Well, I'm glad we could discuss this, and I wish you luck. Should this come into the cabinet to be voted upon, I will vote "yea".

Alex: Thank you, secretary... *Stands up*


Alex shook hands with everyone in the room, then departed as they did.

He stepped out into the hallway when his phone rang...

Alex: Hello?...... *Eyes narrow* What?...........

Sec. of Senate: *Stops when Alex picks up phone* *Walks back towards him as he hangs up* Everything ok?

Alex: *Looks down*... The Vice-Chancellor was just found dead in her office....

David sat in his office and sipped at the coffee in front of him. As he watched the cloud's go by outside his office he silently thought to himself.

David: ( Thing's have been a bit more chaotic since the simoya meeting. Thing's will change indefiantly.)

The ringing of his phone pulled him away from his thought's. He picked up the phone and listned to what the caller had to say.

David: Yes thank you for informing me.

David hung up the phone and had a worried look on his face.

David: ( And perhap's thing's will change sooner than I think.)

Alex stood there, clutching his phone in his hands...

Sec.: *Gasps* Wh... WHAT!?

Alex: The Vice Chancellor was found dead in her office five minutes ago...

Sec: How did he die?!

Alex: *Pissed off* I don't know how SHE died...

Sec: Alex, I'm really sorry...

Alex: Forget it, I have to get back to Simoya right now... *Dials number* Cancel all of my appointments for the next three days...

After he rounded the corner, he ducked into an unlocked closet. He took a deep breath and then started crying...

James walks down a few corridors and hears crying. He was about to open when he was rethinking. He kinda knew how it felt and how some people want to be alone... But James does it anyway...

James: Hey, You okay Alex?

OOC: Heh, not sure how your char would react so you go..

OOC: Why would James be at the capitol building? The council building and the capitol building are two different places... :P BTW, when each sage teleports, they kind of use their own elements. Like, the sage of air would vanish like wind. The sage of water would become water and disappear, etc...

Alex quickly turned and dried his eyes, not wanting James to see him in tears.

James: Alex, you ok?

Alex: I'm fine...

Alex quickly looked at James, then walked past him and down the hall. As he neared the end, he burst into flame and disappeared, James presumed he was headed to the Simoyan Capitol building.


Alex appeared in front of the capitol building, which had already been surrounded by police. He quickly ran over, the crowd pointing and screaming at Alex. He met up with the chief of security and walked with him into the building.

Alex: How long has she been dead?

CoS: About an hour or so...

Alex: *Stops* And no one found her until fifteen minutes ago?!

CoS: She had asked not to be disturbed...

Alex: Fine... *Continues* Who found her?

CoS: Her chief of staff. She walked in, went over to her, then started screaming.

Alex: And we have no idea how she died, yet?

CoS: No, all we know is that she wasn't shot.

Alex: Is she... still in there?

CoS: Yes, sir...

Alex nodded and left him behind. He walked down the hall and up two flights of stairs to her office, where some police were analyzing the scene.

Police Chief: *Looks up to see Alex* Attention!

Everyone stood up straight and looked at Alex. Normally, Alex wouldn't have been happy with this, as he didn't like being the reason why everyone stopped what they were doing, but, he didn't care right now.

Alex: Could you give me the room, please?

Chief: Um, sir, I'm supposed to look around for any signs of-

Alex: I know... *Calmly* Could you please give me the room for a moment?

Chief: *Looks around* Yeah... *To others* Everyone out for a couple of minutes...


The police left the room and Alex walked over to the large desk, which, behind it, held the former second in command of Simoya.

Alex looked over to make sure the door was closed. The thing he was about to do wasn't meant to be seen by public eyes.

He raised his hand, so that it was within a foot of her head. He closed his eyes and spoke a word in Ancient Avarian...

He hoped that he wasn't too late. The process he was performing right now would allow him to see the victim's memories. But, memories disappeared quickly, and it was difficult in the first place, even to a sage. But, luckily, memories disappeared in order, so her last moments would be the last thing to go.

He tried concentrating on some pictures, all of which were flashing too quickly to see properly. He tried skipping ahead to the newest memories.

He saw a picture, through her eyes. He was sitting in her chair, looking at a paper on her desk. He heard a person's voice, but since the memories weren't being relayed by a live person, things were bound to be distorted, just as this person's voice was.

He looked up, but the person's image wasn't clear. All he could see was a shadow. He saw the person stand up, something in his hand that Alex couldn't see. He saw him walk over and stop right next to him. Alex tried to stand up and run, but he just froze.

The person showed him a shot, filled with an unseeable liquid. Alex again tried to run, but, he couldn't alter the memory. He reached up and tried to block the man who was trying to stab him with it, but he couldn't stop him.. The person walked away, then turned around, so his face was visible. Alex tried looking at it, but suddenly, the memory started flashing and moments later, Alex was back in his body. The memory was deleted...

Alex: She was poisoned...

SEVERAL HOURS LATER...

A person sat in an officer, behind a large desk. This person was waiting to meet with the Cardinal, a person whom was known, but whom s/he had never met.

Suddenly, the door opened, and the cardinal walked in. The person behind the desk was in shadows, so s/he couldn't be seen.


???: How are you?

Cardinal: I'm doing fine... How come You're "In hiding"?

???: I have my reasons...

Cardinal: O...k... How are you?

???: Good, good...

Cardinal: *Sits down* Can I just ask a question... What was the point of killing the Vice-Chancellor?

???: She needed to be out of the picture... I won't tell you why...

Cardinal: Why not?

???: You'll understand soon...

Cardinal: I'd like to know now...

???: *Pauses* All right... *Stand up and walks out of the shadows* Understand now?

Cardinal: *Wide-eyed* Oh, my god...

David had sat in his office for many hour's waiting for word on the vice chancellor's death.

David: I must go there my self then.

David put his palm's together and became stiff and the same look of wood. He then became dirt and spread all over the ground. In simoya outside the capitol building, a sprout came out of the ground and began to grow rapidley until it was a wooden version of David. The bark then began to crack and David stepped out of the bark shell wich quickly dissapeared.

David: Chief of Security, I would like to talk to Alex.

CoS: About what sir?

David: The death of one of his staff. He probaly already know's who the killer is or how she was killed at least.

The cardinal sat there, staring at Kayla Wilson...

Cardinal: But... But.... I thought you were dead!!!

Kayla: To the public, I am... I sent in a look-alike that worked for us, told her we needed some things done, and then sent someone in to kill her.

Cardinal: But... Why did you need to be dead?!

Kayla: If we are to pursue our search of Valinski, I can't have my responsibilities interfering...

Cardinal: Then why not resign? And you've been searching for answers to Valinski's mysteries for the last twenty years, far longer than you've been chancellor!

Kayla: As Vice-Chancellor, I had access to certain areas. One of them was the Simoyan Hidden Igor Valinki Archives, known as "SHIVA". Now, I had wanted to get into their system and get whatever I could. I was able to get information off of their servers, but their artifacts I couldn't get without ending up on trial for treason.

Cardinal: How does that tie in with your "death"?

Kayla: I waited for six years until I had enough finances and partners to finally be able to depart. Last night, I sent a team into SHIVA, using my security clearance, and they stole all 19 artifacts and manuscripts. Now, the Simoyan government will find out it was me, but, since I am "dead", they can't do anything about it, other than complain about their loss...

Cardinal: *Pauses* Well done, I must say...

Kayla: Thank you...

Cardinal: May I view the artifacts?

Kayla: As director of decoding, I don't see why not, Mr. Secretary... By the way, when are you due to moderate the Senate again?

James watched as Alex went and then we went to. He went home. He teleported in a gust and appeared at his home. His office would be his home right now. All he could see right now is Alex's face. How terrible it must have been. James didn't know the person but he could so Alex's pain. So James to action. James teleported over to the Lab he would use to go to when he wasn't a Sage.

James: *pointing at a scientist* You, come with me...

Scientist: Hey! who are you to s--..

He bows down to see he his a Sage. James had shown him proof. That is all he needed.

Scientist: *gulp* Sorry sir!

James: It is alright.. I am not worried about that right now. I need to find out what the Vice-Chancellor.. I need to now as quick as i can.. But you are going to need to do it in silence.. That is if Alex hasn't already found out what has happened... But atleast you can find out..

James walked to the scientist and flicked his hand. The scientist blew away in a gust and was dropped off at the Vice-Chancellor's office. James had gone with him and found Alex above the body with his hand over her head..

James: You couldn't have... Could you?

Alex: It is what had to be done to see what happened.. The only way to find the person who did this..

James: Well, Do you know what it was that killed her?

Alex: Not really.. It was something like a vile or a needle. But it was unseeable.

James: Maybe the scientist i brought could help.. Speak to him and see if he knows..

Allex looked over at the scientist and analyzed him. "He doesn't look familiar..."

Alex: Well... Uh... By the look of this scene, how would you say she died?

Scientist: Well... *Examines body* Well, it seems that there is a punture hole in her neck... I'd say by a needle mainly used for chemical injections, but not the kind of chemicals you'd put in a person...

Alex: Sounds accurate...

Scientist: And by the paleness of the region, I'd say it would be either Sinedel or a drug like Kyothen, or in that family...

Alex: *Raises eyebrow* Pretty nice analysis...

Scientist: I went to school for this...

Alex: Well, continue looking around, and-- *Door opens*

CoS: Sir, can I see you for a moment?

Alex: *Looks at James and Scientist* Uh, sure... *Walks out*

CoS: *Outside office* Sir, we just found out that the SHIVA was raided and all the artifacts were taken...

Alex: *Gasps* WHAT?! BY WHOM?! Few people have clearance to get in!!

CoS: That's the thing... *Gives piece of paper* It was... Vice-Chancellor Wilson's access card...

Victor (Senate Secretary) and Kayla sat in her office for an hour, discussing their next plans.

Victor: So, when will "The Court" finally be able to assemble the artifact in the manuscript?

Kayla: Once the deputy director attains another artifact...

Victor: Who is the deputy director? And what IS your position? You've never actually told me...

Kayla: I'm an executive director. I can't tell you who the deputy director is...

Victor: *Pauses* Nice position... Anywho, what about the premier director?

Kayla: I don't even KNOW who the director is... Only the Deputy knows that...

Victor: All right... So, where were all the artifacts being brought?

Kayla: I'm not permitted to say.

Victor: Kayla... I'm the director of PL-9, and director of decoding, and yet you won't tell me?

Kayla: I'm afraid not. Only executive directors and above have knowledge of that information....

Victor: *Sighs* I need a promotion...

Kayla: *Smiles* In time, my friend... In Time... I've seen your great work over the years...

Victor: *Chuckles* I can't believe that we've been working together for the past five years and I never who you were... You were always just a person with a contorted voice...

Kayla: And little did you know that it was one of the three executive directors of "The court"...

Kai sits down in his office, the old violet dragon Jirrico poking her head through his window, and an old wolf named Storm curled up in the corner. He picks the newest newspaper up off of his desk and starts reading it. His eyes widen when he is about halfway through.
"Kai? Whats wrong? Something is bothering you." Jirrico asked, sounding worried for her rider.
"This isn't good... Jirrico, I need time to think. Are the dragon caves still connected to the council building?" he asked the dragon.
"Yes I believe they are" she answered him.
"Thank you. I need time to think" he said, taking his phone out of his pocket and dialing Alex's number.

"Hello?" Alex answered on the other line.
"Alex, something is up. It says in the newspapers that SHIVA was raided." Kai stated urgently.
"I know. I'm talking to James about it right now."
"Is there anyone else there with you?"
"There is a scientist here but you think he's been bugged?"
"Yes. I do. Don't trust anyone." Kai said, closing his phone and placing it back in his pocket. Kai stands up, and disappears in a human sized tornado.

Kai reappears in a large room, decorated with the runes for wind, and the symbols for the council and axonia on the wall. It is the office of the sage of wind in the axonian council building. Kai walks out the door and then down 7 floors on an elevator. The doors open and he steps out into a dimly lit hallway, lit only by torches on the walls. He walks to the end and comes upon a set of large metal doors. He places his palm on a scanner next to the door. The doors slide open and he walks in, the doors immediatly closing upon his entry.
SHIVA... The Simoyan Hidden Igor Valinski Archives... Valinski... wait... it couldn't be... Kai thought walking up to a large file cabinet. In large bold letters on the front are the words 'THE COURT'

Alex hung up his phone and looked back at the chief of security... There's no way it could be the scientist, he just got here, and very few people know about SHIVA... Although, some higher ranking officials have a tendency to blab... Maybe it could be the scientist, but who would've told him? Alex thought to himself.

Alex: What about the servers? Were they hacked?

CoS: They were accessed by Kayla's card, and although they tried to delete the information after copying it, they couldn't. It's one of our security protocols...

Alex: Do we have video surveillance?

CoS: No. SHIVA isn't a widely known thing. The Senate can't pay for it, and someone would be bound to find out about SHIVA if we had years of security footage.

Alex: Well, apparently, SHIVA is now public knowledge... Not that it makes any difference now...

CoS: How is it public knowledge?

Alex: I just got a call from an associate of mine and he said that he read about it in a paper.

CoS:This is actually going to matter... A lot of people aren't going to be happy that you kept this from them...

Alex: It doesn't matter... It didn't concern them, and I was footing the bill for the last twenty years!

CoS: That's what they're expecting you to say... But they'll still think that their tax dollars went into this...

Alex: Still... Let's think about this... There are thirty members of the SHIVA board... I'm the chairman, and then there are twenty nine-other people. Eight of them are security specialists and guard the facility. Eleven are out of country, and then you have four senators, the Vice-Chancellor, and a few others, including you...

CoS: *Narrows eyes* You don't think that I...

Alex: *Shocked* No, no, no... *Places hand on CoS's shoulder* I'm merely saying that it had to be one of thirty people. I'm assuming it's someone out of country considering it was in an Axonian newspaper. *Takes hand off*

CoS: Public newspaper?

Alex: *Sighs* The capital's newspaper... Over nine million viewers...

CoS: *Pauses* Well, there goes our archives of that area...

Alex: Yeah... *Leaves*.


CoS: *Walks in room and asks to speak with Scientist* *Outside office* Apparently you leaked the info well...

Scientist: I aim to please...

CoS: Alex suspects it's someone out of country, so we're not on his suspicion list...


Little did he know that Alex had suspected them all along, and when Alex got the call from Kai, it wasn't news. He knew that the place had been raided since around two hours after it happened. He had placed a small bug in his hand, and when he put it on his Chief of Security's shoulder, it stuck to his clothing, allowing Alex to hear everything he was saying...

Katheryne sat in her office in Selia, slowly reading some papers that had just been delivered to her. Her chief of security returned into her office with a white face.

Matilda: Well, your sharks aren't going to be... uh... hungry for a while... *Laughs nervously*

Katrina: Oh, did you finally find the other civilians that supported that journalist?

Matilda: Yes, we uh... did...

Katrina: Make sure that the remaining ones are kept fresh... Nothing but the best for my babies...

Matilda: Yes, ma'am... *Departs*


Katheryne felt like visiting her prisoners, so she went down the hall and got in the elevator and went down.

As she got off the elevator, she walked down the hall of screaming prisoners, looking around for the group that had recently been captured. She reached the cell and had the guard open it up.

Inside were around four young adults, cowering in the corner in fear. They knew what was going to happen to them eventually.

Katheryne: Now... Who here does not want to be fed to my sharks?

They all cried in fear.

Katheryne: Seriously, don't worry, just speak up. If you don't want to be eaten by sharks, just raise your hand.

One of the men shakingly rose his hand.

Katheryne: Good.... Come here, please.

The man stood up and slowly walked over to her.

Katheryne: What's your name?

Man: Clyde, your exellency...

Katheryne: Well, Clyde, I have good news for you. You're not going to be fed to my sharks.

Clyde: I'm.... I'm not?

Katheryne: *Smiles* No, silly... You're going to be fed to my Kaolids.... *Smiles evily*

The man screamed and tried running out of the cell, but Katheryne mearly raised her hand and he collapsed, unable to move.

If someone had the choice to be fed to Sharks or Kaolids, everyone would choose Sharks.

Kaolids were small meat-eaters. They often ate in groups, and when they did, it was very slowly. Often, if a person kept one as a pet, the person had to cut up chunks of meat just to get it small enough to eat.

Katheryne snapped her fingers and Clyde was levitated a foot above the ground. Katheryne walked out of the cell, her dress' bottom dragging on the floor. Clyde's friends ran over to him when he started following her, but Katrina quickly turned around and placed them each in a sphere of water, which was completely filled with water and unable to escape.

Clyde envied them. They would be dead in a few minutes, he was going to take a lot longer...

She led him into a room with a large pit in it, along with a table on the ledge. She snapped her fingers again and he was strapped to the table. He looked over the edge and saw the Kaolids, along with hundreds of cat-sized scorpions.

Katrina grabbed one of his fingers and yanked it back so far it tore off. Clyde screamed in agony as she threw the digit into the pit, which was quickly grabbed by one of the Kaolids.

She repeated this with all of the other fingers, Clyde fainting after the third one, but being revived by Kate. She did the same thing with his toes, too. She then walked over to a small drawer and grapped a silver utensil. She came back over and snapped her fingers, forcing his eyelids open. She slowly poked his eyeball with the sharp utensil, which she then pulled out. She threw it in the pit and repeated this with his other eye.

She then ripped his tongue out, then proceeded to cut him arms and legs into pieces.

When he was left with nothing but a head and a body, she released the straps and pushed him into the pit, muttering a spell that would make sure he not lose conciousness, even in this pain that was more excrutiating than removing body parts...

She laughed as she heard the screams of Clyde and walked out smiling, her guards saluting her then cringing over the muffled yells of distorted words...

Searching through the file cabinet, Kai pulls out a red colored folder. He shuts the file cabinet and then disappears. A few minutes later, he reappears in his axonian office, with a large mug.

I don’t understand… I thought we destroyed them. he thought, sitting at his desk, taking a drink from the mug. Flipping through the folder, he pulls out a sheet of blank paper. Tracing the symbol for ‘reveal’ on the middle of the paper, words start writing themselves onto it, eventually stopping.

The AXonian Intelligence Squad has recently discovered that the organization dubbed ‘THE COURT’ has successfully created and activated a ‘knock-out’ bomb, and has stunned those in a 20 square mile area of Avon Rae. No one was seriously injured, and this ‘bomb’ was supposedly created from the blueprints of a man named ‘Valinski’ Their motives are still not completely revealed. The courts known motives are to amass the knowledge and complete the research of Valinski.

This doesn’t make any sense. The court was destroyed. Or at least we all thought it was destroyed. Okay, If all else fails, call Alex he silently contemplated, grabbing his phone and calling Alex immediately.

Alex was about to walk back in the room where the scientist and his chief od security was, when he heard his cell phone ring. He quickly reached into his pocket and flipped it open.

Alex: Hello?

Kai: Alex, it's me...

Alex: Kai?

Kai: Who else?

Alex: *Quickly shakes head* Anywho... What's up?

Kai: I need to talk to you regarding something fairly sensitive...

Alex: *Looks at door leading into other room* Now?

Kai: Preferrably.

Alex: *Sighs* Fine... Alright... Where are you?

Kai: My office in the Axonian council building. But, I want to meet in your office. It's more secure.

Alex: Alright... *Hangs up*


Alex quickly walked outside the building and faced a bunch of cameras and people screaming questions.

Reporter: Sir? Is the Vice-Chancellor really dead?

Alex: I will be having a press conference this afternoon. Sandy will answer any questions you have. *Continues to walk down steps*

He had to walk a small distance before getting any privacy from the public. He looked to make sure no one was around, then he snapped his fingers and burst into flame.

A moment later, he was in front of the Axonian council building.

~Inside~

Alex: Kai, what's up?

Kai: I think we may have a problem.

Alex: WHat?

Kai: Do you remember "The Court"?

Alex: *Wide eyed* Do I remember? They're the ones that killed Kate.... My only remaining relative that was a part of the Defiance!

Kai: I think they're back...

Alex: *Pauses* Wh-what?

Kai: I think the Court had been reformed...

Alex: WHy would you think that?

Kai: SHIVA being raided... Who else would have the desire, or the audacity?

Alex: There are a lot of people... But... Carol was killed! Their whole operation was dismantled...

Kai: Apparently not...

Alex: It could be anyone...

Kai: I doubt it... I think they're back... And stronger this time, too...

Riu: Ugh...

Riu's vision was hazed. The last thing he was able to remember was that alleyway and how him and boy were fighting those strange men. Riu slapped his temple and watched as his vision cleared and mind renewed, now he remembered exactly what happened. They had been defeated and captured, but where were they now? It was obviously a cell, the steel floor and bars were a given. The boy was passed out right along side of Riu. He began to groan.

Boy: Whe.... where are we? What happened?

Riu: Those men defeated us, and now we're trapped in their prison.

Boy: WHAT!?! No!

The boy began to frantically search for a way out! He attempted squeezing through the bars and punching his way out, but to no use.

Boy: Do you have any idea what kind of punishment these guys give! It's said you'll beg to be killed before you even get to die!

Riu: Calm down, there's gotta be a way out of this situation.

Boy: How huh? We can't even fight, they've taken our weapons.

Riu: We'll use our fists.

Boy: THey already defeated us one time. THey'll do it again.

Riu: Not necessarily. Did you notice their fighting patterns were strangely similar, almost exact. All we have to do is find a way to counter one and we've got them all!

Boy: Much easier said than done. Hey, here comes someone!

A cloaked man steps into the room, with the same insignia on his chest as the men before. He walked up close to the cage and grinned.

Man: Now that your here, we can finish our mission.

Boy: Wow, I didn't know executions were that important to you.

Man: You have no idea kid. Don't rot before we come back.

The man leaves and the boy walks up to Riu with a pale look on his face.

Boy: I... I...

Riu: What's wrong?

Boy: I...

Riu: What is it!!!

Boy: I...

The boy pulls out a small silver key.

Boy: Got the key!

Riu: WAY TO GO!

Alex: *Looks around for a minute* Start an investigation into this topic. Keep it at a maximum of five people, and I don't want this getting out. You tell no one except for anyone else you feel should know. I'm going back to Simoya and speaking with the director of the FIA (Federal Intelligence Agency) and start an investigation there.

Kai: *Nods* All right... I'll do that.

Alex: I don't want this getting out. There's a great chance that if the court is back, and larger, they'll have moles in the agencies.

Kai: I agree. This can't become known to the Court. And the moles will be discovered in due time.

Alex: Yes...Meanwhile, I'm also going to meet with a contact of mine. He was the former counterintelligence director. He knows more about the court than anyone.

Kai: Good idea... We need all the help we can get.

Alex: I'm just wondering how I am going to do everything. I have meetings galore with the Senate, now I have the SHIVA break-in, and Kayla's dead... *Looks down*

Kai: You have to niominate someone soon. You may need to take a leave of absence.

Alex: Yes, but the confirmation period takes around two or three weeks.

Kai: I've looked into the constitution. "In case of absolute emergency, the Chancellor may appoint a vice-chancellor without consent of the Senate, so long as his or her term does not exceed one month, in which time, the Chancellor must nominate a candidate for the position."

Alex: *Looks at Kai* You're right... I should do that now... I could also simply take the other option of getting a new Vice-Chancellor.

Kai: Which is?

Alex: The Senate can choose someone to become the Vice-Chancellor. Should the Chancellor not be able to, or has no idea whom to choose, he can request the Senate choose a Vice-Chancellor.

Kai: But, you'd be stuck with whoever it was...

Alex: That's the downside...

Kai: Why not just go back, appoint a minister or the president of the Senate to be your vice-chancellor for the month?

Alex: A minister would probably do it, but not the president of the Senate...

Kai: Then do that. You're going to need to take a while off...

Alex: You're right... I'm starting to think I may speak with the Senate and make a constitutional amendment, possibly adding a seperate leader.

Kai: But... The chancellor is head of both Legislative and Executive, both of which you need. If you gave up one, it wouldn't be as easy to do many things...

Alex: Yes, but it would be better for the people...

Kai: Maybe...

Alex: *Shakes head* What am I doing!? I have to go...

Kai nodded and left the room. Alex turned around and closed the shades, then snapped his fingers and disappeared in a ball of fire...

He reappeared in the middle of Ardet, the capital of Simoya. He ran down several streets, people staring at him as he did so.

He eventually stopped outside of a large gate, beyond which was an elegant mansion, one that was Almost as large as the original capitol building that was in use when Alex first became a minister. Inside was the assistant Director of the FIA, and one of Alex's most trusted allies.

He pressed the button on a speakerphone on the stone pillar, and a voice answered.

Voice: May I help you?

Alex: This is Chancellor Alexander Hudson. I'm here to meet with Richard Phelps.

Voice: *Pauses* Yes, sir. Please come in.

The gates opened and Alex sprinted up the driveway. He quickly climbed the steps and went through the doors that were opened by butlers. He looked to his left and saw Richard in the living room, reading a book.

Richard: *Smiles* Alex!

Alex: *Breathes heavily* Richard, not really the time for this... *Looks at butlers* *Closes doors*

Richard: *Stops smiling* What's wrong?

Alex: I need you to start an investigation into The Court... I think they're back...

Richard: What?

Alex: I think the Court is back... Keep the team to a maximum of five people. I want this kept quiet.

Richard: Of... Of course...

Alex: Thank you... *Opens doors and leaves*

After Alex left, Richard nodded to his butlers, who closed the doors. He reached into his pocket and grabbed a cell phone. He flipped it open and held down a button.

Richard: Kayla? It's Richard. Alex Hudson just came by.....

David sat in his office with a furious look on his face.

David: Sure I may be new to the council but I'm still a sage. I dont care what country that guy is chief of security to. I'm a freaking sage! I'm going to call Alex right now!

David picked a cell phone and pressed a speed dial button.

David: Alex, Youre chief of security in Simoya turned me away when I treid to talk to you.

Alex: Really?

OOC: Trying to fit myself in some where.

Alex: Well... I don't know why he would've done that...

James: Well, he did...

Alex: *Looks at crowd* Listen, James, I have to go, I have a press conference to attend.

James: All right... But I want to talk to you about this later...

Alex: Yup... *Hangs up*

Alex looked ahead at the huge crowd. On the steps there was a podium, behind which was Alex's press secretary, Sandy. She was looking around and pointing to people in the group who had their hands up. Alex had left her a message earlier to tell the people that the vice-chancellor had been found unconcious, then she was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Reporter: Do the Doctors know how she died?

Sandy: They believe she had a stroke. I don't know anything more about her condition.

Alex hated lying to the public, but they would feel much more secure if they found out the second most powerful person in the country died of natural causes instead of being murdered.

Reporter: Any idea what caused the stroke?

Sandy: No, I don't. As far as I'm concerned, Vice-Chancellor Wilson was very healthy.

Reporter: All right... Now, has Chancellor Hudson made any notion as to who he will nominate as Vice-Chancellor?

Sandy: No, I haven't spoken with him regarding the matter.

Alex walked up the steps and turned to address the crowd.

Alex: I won't be nominating a chancellor anytime this week. Using my executive powers, I am appointing my chief of staff, Andrea Yates, to be the temporary vice-chancellor until I nominate a more-researched candidate. THank you... *Continues walking into building*

Alex had quickly spoken with Andrea earlier regarding filling in, and she quickly agreed, as she had once served a two-year term as vice-chancellor before being appointed Alex's Chief of Staff.

Alex walked up to his office, which was filled with quite a few people, including Andrea, the president of the Senate, and some cabinet ministers.

Alex: What's up with the... um... you know...

Andrea: It was transferred to the hospital for an official autopsy.

Alex: Ok... *Pauses for a minute* Now, I apologize about everything, Mr. President, but I don't have a lot of time right now to spend on searching for a candidate for vice-chancellor. I need about two or three weeks before I'll be ready to announce my nomination...

Pres.: That's understandable.

Alex: Alright, now, I need to talk about certain things. First item, joining with the union will be our highest priority right now. I want to get a vote through the Senate, and should that pass, I want a vote out to the people.

Pres.: *Nods* That can be arranged.

Alex: Next on the list, Avon Rae has agreed to sell us the land, provided we purchase the houses on it.

Minister of Housing: All right. I'll go and speak with their housing secretary and have everything made official...

Alex: Also get a notice out to the public about the purchase.

Minister: Yes, sir.

Alex: And, last order of business, and this I am asking to be kept quiet...

Everyone nodded.

Alex: You are the only ones in this country beside my chief of security that know about SHIVA.

Andrea: Why are we discussing SHIVA? What does it have to do with anything?

Alex: It was raided last night...

Andrea: Wh-what?

Alex: It was raided last night. All artifacts, manuscripts, and data have been taken. I've ordered a transfer of data to another server for safe-keeping.

Andrea: But... Who stole it?

Alex: A team raided it, I'm assuming. But, the access card belonged to Kayla...
