You wake up to the sound of the birds and look at your alarm clock. 10:00?!?! You forgot to set your alarm and now you're gonna be late. You quickly throw clothes on and run outside. You see a crowd of people walking away from a house down the block. You run pass the crowd into the house.

Maxwell (I know you too well): Professor!! Can I have my Pokemon?

Professor: Hmmm... I do have one left... ok, you can have it...

Maxwell: Yes!! Thank you so much Professor!!

You take your Pokemon and run outside in excitement. You bump into another trainer.

Steve: It's about time you showed up. And judging by your Pokemon, the Professor didn't have anything else...

Maxwell: Don't talk about my Pokemon like that!!

Steve: Make me. Go, Psyduck *Lv. 5*!!

[Pontus]

Maxwell: You're calling my pokemon weak? Look at that thing... It's pathetic. Go Houndoor! Jump to the right and use ember. Sprint towards him and then jump up again to send another ember at him.

Is that all I do?

[Mr. Blue!]

Yeah. You're doing it right!

Houndour jumps over the Psyduck and sprays it in the face with hot embers. The Psyduck shakes off the attack like it's nothing, and sprays Houndour down with a Water Sport.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Listen closely, Houndoor. Shoot a quick ember at his feet then use leer to knock Psyduck off balance. Charge in and try to hit him with your head hard enough to knock him over. Then clamp onto him with your teeth wherever you can.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour shoots several embers at Psyduck, who begins to dance to avoid the red hot attacks. He then leers the duck, but the duck is oblivious. As Houndour rams into the duck's stomach Psyduck nails him with a scratch, making both pokemon hurt.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Good job Houndoor. Run forwards and shoot embers at his eyes. Jump up into the air and try to knock him over and then use your teeth to latch onto his neck. Whatever you do, make sure you grip him hard enough that he can't squirm out and scratch you.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour shoots the embers at Psyduck, but they are ashes before the reach the duck when he shoots water at them. Houndour the races towards Psyduck and flips Psyduck over his back with a nasty bite.Psyduck lands and rubs its head in pain.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Use Ember and then jump to the right. Keep jumping in a circle like that until you can get a successful ember attack in. Aim for his eyes. If you get one past his spurts of water try to run in and knock him over again and bite him wherever you can.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour runs around the Psyduck, causing Psyduck to act as if he were a sprinkler, and soon the duck becomes confused and gives Houndour enough time to strike. Ember splash across Psyduck's face as Houndou pounces on Psyduck and viciously bites him. Psyduck escapes, holding its throbbing head.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Keep hitting him in the head! Even if he breaks out with a Psychic attack it won't damage you. Use the same method but when you jump in, kick him sharply with both of your hind legs. Make sure to catch him just on the side of the head!

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour dives for Psyduck, and jumps off his head to deal some nasty damage. Psyduck's eyes narrow, and he suddenly becomes very serious.

You: Hah, psychic attacks don't work on Houndour!
Steve: No, but normal ones do. Dad (the professor) gave me a special thing. Psyduck, use Frustration!

Houndour is hit with an invisible force knocking him all around the area. Soon Psyduck returns to its oblivious self, and your Houndoom is hurt.

OOC: You're good, so I figured you can find a way out this situation. I try and keep these things at the level of the participant. I know you're a high level. I'm not sure about the rest of my pokedexes yet, cept for Pulse, who wanted it hard.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Well Steve, congrats on making your pokemon hate you. Frustration could only be that strong if your pokemon had no respect for you at all. *Turns to Houndoor* Okay, buddy... You have to be careful of that attack. Stay close to psyduck and keep knocking him over. If you see his eyes narrow, shoot embers at them so he loses his concentration. If he uses scratch, jump to your right until you can get a clear shot at him.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour jumps near Psyduck and headbutts him to knock him over, but Psyduck retaliates by slashing at him with its claws. Houndour shoots ember at the duck, and Psyduck falls over in pain... He's burnt.

Finish Psyduck

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Great job Houndoor, he's almost finished. Run up to him and try to lure him in to attack you. When he goes to Scratch you turn and run. Wait for the burn to kick in and then run in and hit him as hard as you can with your head to finish him off. If he isn't finished by then shoot Embers at his eyes and bite him.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour executes the attack with out error, and Psyduck falls to the ground fainted.
"I was just going easy on you," says Steve. "You won't be so lucky next time!"
He runs off after giving you your winner's fee.

You first run back to the professor's place but discover the door is locked. You move on and go say goodbye to your mother. She hugs you tightly and gives you a special item, TM 27: Return, in the hopes that it will remind you to return back home. You say good bye and move on.

After a bit of wandering you see a small hole, like a burrow.

B: Check it out.
L: Leave it alone and move on.

You peer into the hole and you find yourself looking at a rodent running at you.

Maxwell: Next, please.

You walk away, listening to the sounds of Pichus and Pikachus...

You move on and soon find that you're on the outskirts of Viridian. You see a small pond.

What now?
B: Go into the city.
L: Check out the pond.

Pichus and Pikachus?

Are you allowed to tell me what pokemon you see?

[Mr. Blue!]

I just said rodents.... Try not to assume too much. And not telling you full out makes it a little more fun....

You go to the pond which you discover is absolutely disgusting and filthy. You think nothing could survive in there when suddenly a glob of what looks kind of like mud moves... or so you think.

[Pontus]

Might as well check it out.

[Mr. Blue!]

You edge closer and suddenly smell the worst stink in your life. Grimer suddenly moves towards you...

B: Attack it.
L: Eeeeewww, poke it with a stick!
U: You have better thing to do... On into town.

[Pontus]

L and then Q: I want to go find some Bug pokemon.

[Mr. Blue!]

You push the stick in the goo and a pocket of air is let out that smells just like fermented fish dipped in armpit juice. You run away from the foul stench and go looking for a bug pokemon.


After a bit of searching you rest under a tree. Suddenly you feel something drop on your head. You look up to see a blue beetle.

B: Aaaaaah! Run away!
L: Sweet, let's battle it!
U: Head to town.

[Pontus]

GO Houndoor!

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour howls as it is released. The Heracross dives down with a horn attack.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Okay houndoor... Hold your ground and wait until Heracross comes close to the ground. Then jump up and over the attack, turn around, and shoot embers at Heracross' uprotected backside. Once you injur him keep using ember attacks to weaken him more.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour executes the move perfectly, and Heracross falls injured. It immediately regains its footing though and rams Houndour with a Horn Attack.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Great job Houndoor. Wait until Heracross comes down a little lower and then shoot embers above his head. That should make him swoop down low enough for you to run up and shoot embers in his face from close range.

[Mr. Blue!]

Heracross lowers its head for an attack, but suddenly begins to glow red, as embers fly into his face, dealing some nasty damage.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Great job Houndoor. I bet you almost have him beat. Kick up some dirt so that he can't see you. Then position yourself under him while he hovers above the dirt cloud and jump up, using ember on his stomach.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour kicks dirt in Heracross' face, but the bug stays unmoving, still glowing red. Houndour unleashes an ember attack, and it strikes the Heracross full on. Suddenly Heracross glows bright red and unleashes tons of energy, hurting Houndour twice as much as he was hurt.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Ouch, a bide attack. Stay hidden in the dust and use ember again. He must be getting close to being KO'ed. If he starts to glow red then shoot five times the amount of embers so that you can KO him before he is able to retaliate and KO you.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour shakily gets up and fires Embers at Heracross, who is already beginining to glow again.

Finish Heracross

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Great job, Houndoor. He's using bide but you can get him down before he has a chance. Use ember and then jump under him and shoot as many embers as you can. If he doges, send them in front of him and then behind him so he has no place to go and then finish him off. Then I'll throw this pokeball and catch him.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour shoots some embers and before he can complete the attack the bug falls over cold. You throw the ball and within seconds it dings at the sound of Heracross finally in your ownership.

You enter the lively Pokecenter full of Chansey and Blissey roaming around attending to other pokemon. You come to the front desk.
"Welcome the the Viridian City Pokemon Center," greets a cheerful Nurse Joy.
You hand over your new pokemon for the full treatment, and soon leave afterward.

Now what?
B: Go visit some locals.
L: Check out the local shops.
U: See if there is a gym.
E: Ditch this God awful town.

[Pontus]

B and if there's no one good, E.

You walk around for a bit and see a few kids running in the streets. You then come upon an older man passed out on the street.

B: Help him.
L: Ditch him.
U: Other (Please Specify)

B... Might as well do a good deed.

[Mr. Blue!]

You pat the man gently on the cheek until he arises with a start. He thanks you and then explains that he was robbed by a man and fainted from the excitement.

B: Help the guy.
L: Say "That sucks," and go on.

He describes the man as tall with black hair jeans and a black t-shirt.

Where do you begin the search????

B: Choose a location in Viridian City.

Lets look near the PokeMart.

[Mr. Blue!]

You run up to the PokeMart but find no one there. You enter the store and ask the clerk if she's seen the man. She says that she saw him just about ten minutes before and the guy even tried to sell her something, but wouldn't take the price that she offered.

You're hot on the trail. Pick another location!

[Pontus]

Maxwell to himself: Woah, that huge house over there looks awesome.

Lets look over by that house.

[Mr. Blue!]

You walk over to the house and soon discover that it is not a house, but really a gym. You look to see a tall man wearing a black t-shirt banging on the doors that are chained shut.

[Pontus]

Confront the man.

[Mr. Blue!]

He sees you and begins to back away slowly. You call to him acusing him of the theft of whatever it was the old man had. He admits to it, but says you can't get it back unless you battle him for it. He unleashes two pokemon, a Magnemite *Lv. 6* and a Zubat *Lv. 6*. The old man agrees to help you battle him if you wish, sending out a Kakuna *Lv. 7*.

B: Battle on!
L: No thanks.

[Pontus]

Lets go Houndoor!

Maxwell: Ok Houndoor, quickly use pursuit on Zubat to knock it out of the way and then send as many embers as you can for a super affective hit on Magnemite.

Old Man: Lets go Kakuna, use harden and then lunge at that Zubat to hit it with your hardened body.

ooc: Does Kakuna have Poison Sting and String Shot from Weedle?

[Mr. Blue!]

Yes he does...

Houndour tilts its head confused at the pursuit command given. He then fires several embers at Magnemite, who buzzes uncontrollably at the major damage. It then retaliates by creating an ear piercing screech of metal to metal.

Kakuna turns gold and propels itself at Zubat, delivering some heavy damage.

[Pontus]

ooc: It's an Egg move, Blue. I dropped him off during your LOA.

Maxwell: Ok Houndoor, you know what do to. Use pursuit to quickly attack Zubat and then jump above it and use ember.

Old Man: Great Job, Kakuna. Use Harden again and then string shot to stop Magnemite in its tracks. Then use poison sting on Zubat and ram it with your hard body.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour, finally remembering what the old man had taught him, fired at Zubat with amazing speed and slammed into him hard with Pursuit. He then kept going and fired several hot projectiles at Zubat, delivering some heavy damage with the combo. Kakune meanwhile fires webbing around its magnetic opponent, who retaliates with a shot of electricity at Kakuna, paralyzing it.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Great job, Houndoor! Now use leer to distract Magnemite and dive under the floating pokemon. Turn up and use ember to lay heavy damage on his exposed underbelly. After that try to use Pursuit on Zubat.

Old Man: Come on Kakuna, you have to shake it off! There's still a chance you'll be able to move... Use harden and then slam your body as hard as you can into Zubat. If you find that you can't move then use String Shot on Zubat and Magnemite to hold them still so Houndoor can get them.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour successfully delivers the blow on Magnamite's under belly, but get shocked in the process, putting him in too much pain to attack Zubat. Kakuna's shell suddenly splits in two and a shinier Kakuna pops out unparalyzed and ready to battle. He harden's and uses tackle on the fluttering bat.

[Pontus]

Old Man: Way to go, Kakuna! I forgot about your ability to shed your skin. Now use a barage of poison stings to distract Zubat. Between the poison stings, use String Shot to immobilize Zubat and then charge and slam your body into it again.

Maxwell: We've got'em now, Houndoor. Jump above Kakuna and mix embers into his poison sting attacks. Then use pursuit on Magnemite and shoot embers at him. If Magnemite tries to attack Kakuna jump in front and use ember.

[Mr. Blue!]

Kakuna send a barage of Poison Stings at Zubat, who is hurt very little by them. It tries to attack Kakuna but instead gets caught in sticky Sting Shot. Soon it falls to the ground.

Houndour meanwhile uses pursuit on Magnemite, which causes minimal damage. Magnemite retaliates with a nasty screech followed by an electric shot at Houndour. Houndour then fires several embers at Magnemite.

Finish Zubat and Magnemite

[Pontus]

Maxwell: We've got them now! Houndoor, use ember on Magnemite to distract it and then use pursuit on Zubat. Zubat is on the ground so jump up and use pursuit again. Then turn and shoot embers at Magnemite again.

Old Man: Way to go, Kakuna! Use string shot to trap Magnemite and then use harden so you can ram into Zubat again. Then use string shot again on Magnemite and slam your body into it.

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour shoot the distraction embers and Magnemite faints. Kakuna launches its hardened self at Zubat finishing him off too. The guy returns his pokemon and appolgizes for thieving the man. He hands over $400 for winning and the item he stole. The old man thanks you for helping him and gives you a wierd rock for your troubles.

Off you go, leaving Viridian City to your tail. Soon you find yourself surrounded by trees. You have entered Viridian Forest.

B: I hear you can catch a Pikachu in Viridian. Maybe there's a pond around where I can catch a water pokemon.

[Mr. Blue!]

You search around for either thing, but soon discover you ar lost in the labyrinth of trees. Just about to give up you sit down by a tree. Suddenly a Pichu falls from the tree above with an apple in hands into your lap!

B: Battle it.
L: Let it sit there.
U: Other (Please Specify)

L I want to see what it does.

[Mr. Blue!]

The Pichu sits in your lap for a bit and just munches on the apple. It acts like nothing is wrong, even after looking up at your face several times.

B: Battle it.
L: Try to pet it.

U: Get up slowly and see if Pichu follows. Then search the trees for Metapod and Kakuna shells, they should be all over the place.

[Mr. Blue!]

You get up and allow it to move out of your lap. As you walk off it stares at you with curiousity. As you begin to examine trees for the shells Pichu runs up the tree you are looking at and seconds later an apple falls to the ground.

B: Take the apple.
L: Leave it and keep searching.

You take the apple, wipe it off, and begin eating it. As you begin to search other trees you stumble into an area with one large tree. You look back and see that Pichu is still following you. You look at the large tree and discover it is covered with Kakuna. Suddenly you hear cracking and crackling and discover that many of the Kakuna are evolving!

B: Run away!
L: You aren't afraid of Bees.
U: Run away!

Maxwell: Lets go Elekid and Houndoor. Elekid, begin warming up your Fire Punch I had you learn. Houndoor, be ready to attack at any moment. Guys, if they swarm us, pick out a strong one and gang up on it.

*The Beedril begin their attack*

Suddenly Beedrill are everywhere, swarming you all around. Quickly your pokemon get to work, but the swarm it over powering, and very angry. Suddenly an electrical charge fires through the Beedrill, hitting many of them hard. The electric charge suddenly changes back into Pichu. The Beedrill swarm very close all around and soon the four of you are caught in the middle of a growing swarm.

B: Oops.
L: Battle your way out.
U: Stay where you are and keep them at bay.

Maxwell: Pichu, great to see you! Ok Houndoor, use ember in circles to keep them away while Elekid jumps up and uses Fire Punch to knock them out. I want to try to catch 2 of these suckers so pick out two strong ones to knock out for me. Pichu, would you mind using your thundershock to hit the beedril and keep them away?

*a while passes*

Maxwell: Damn I'm stupid. Go Heracross! Use Bide to take damage and then retaliate, KOing beedril. Go Shuckle! Use Withdraw as a destraction. Go Poochyena! Jump on the back of a Beedril and use Poison Fang to take it down.

[Mr. Blue!]

You stand as the pokemon do their respective tasks. Unfortunatly for you the swarm seems to be getting larger, and a lot more dangerous.

B: Get out of this thing.
L: Stay and get stung to death.
U: Other (Please Specify)

Maxwell: Ok, Return everyone except for Houndoor and Elekid. *turns to Pichu* Look... There's no way you'll get out of this. Do you want to come into this Friend Ball and come with us to saftey? My pokemon can blast us out of here.

[Mr. Blue!]

Pichu shakes it's head, obviously not liking the pokeball. Instead it helps you get out of the swarm. After making it out you sit, adreneline finally slowing down. Suddenly two Beedrill appear, about to attack you.

B: Run!
L: Stay and fight.
U: Other (Please Specify)

Maxwell: Houndoor, Return! Go Elekid, clap your hands together to warm up your fire punch. Then use quick attack on one beedril and jump over to hit the other with your Fire Punch. Pichu, if you'd like to stay and help, can you use Thundershock on the 2 Beedril?

[Mr. Blue!]

Pichu nods and unleashes electricity upon the bees, dealing some heafty damage. Meanwhile Elekid fires up his arms and double punches the bees. The bees are angered by this and dive at Elekid with Fury Attack together. Elekid falls to the ground hurt and exhausted.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Come on Elekid! You have to get up. Use Fire Punch on both bees but if one tries to attack you keep using Quick Attack until you can get away from it. Pichu... What was that move you used earlier. Would you mind if I saw it again? *Pichu nods and then begins sparking at the cheeks*

[Mr. Blue!]

Elekid struggles to its feet and jumps towards the Beedrill, fists a flame. It manages to punch one, but the other meets him with a sharp stinger dripping with poison. Elekid drops, fainted.

Pichu nods and begins charging up. Seconds later it takes off in a bolt of lighting and tackles the nearest Beedrill.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Ok Elekid, you did your best. Go Houndour! Avenge your fainted friend with a wall of embers at the bug pokemon. If anything tries to attack Pichu, use Pursuit to knock it away. Pichu, evade attacks while throwing Thundershocks to cover for Houndour. Come on guys, we can do this!

[Mr. Blue!]

Houndour fires several flames at the insects and Pichu shocks them from a distance. The Beedrill are angered by this and suddenly webbing shoots from their stingers and wraps around Houndour and Pichu.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Oh no! Houndour, use a weak ember attack to burn away the String Shot. Then use you hot breath and a little fire to break Pichu free. Aim your embers at the stingers of the Beedrill. Maybe they won't be able to use String Shot again. Pichu, keep evading those attacks. Houndour will protect you so just use Thundershock until you can knock them out.

[Mr. Blue!]

Pichu and Houndour escape from their sticky prisons and barely dodge incoming stingers. Pichu then begins to fire electric artillery from the back as Houndour shoot embers at incoming string shots.

[Pontus]

Maxwell: Great Job guys. Now, Pichu, use Thundershock to electrocute the stingers on both Beedrill's bodies. Maybe if you paralyze them we can lay in some more damage. Houndour, use the same method but shoot embers at the pokemon instead of their attacks. We need to inflict massive damage here.

[Mr. Blue!]

Pichu shoots more electricity and manages to have one Beedrill fall to the ground twitching. the other Beedrill is freaked out by this and flies off.

[Pontus]

Maxwell quickly reaches into his bag and pulls out a red and white ball with a thunderbolt on it. Houndoor jumps up and shoots a barrage of embers at Beedrill, followed by a thundershock from Pichu. He throws the ball and the pokemon is engulfed in a zig-zagging red beam.

1...2... Oh noes, what will the outcome be? Find out next time!

[Mr. Blue!]

The ball clicks shut and the Beedrill is caught. Suddenly Pichu falls to the ground from exhaustion.

Maxwell: Pichu are you all right?

Maxwell picks up the Pichu and holds it in his arms. The pokemon's eyes open barely and Pichu smiles. Houndour returns to his pokeball.

Maxwell: Do you know how to get out of this Forest, little fella? I can take you to a Pokemon Center if you'd like. And then maybe you'd like to come with me on my journey.

[Mr. Blue!]

The pokemon nods and points in one direction. You race off for Pewter City. After breaking through several groups of bug pokemon and trainers, not to mention the countless branches that fell victim to your run, the trees begin to thin and you enter Pewter, racing straight to the Pokemon Center.

[Pontus]

Maxwell goes into the pokemon center and heals his pokemon. He turns to Nurse Jenny.

Maxwell: So is Brock's Gym around here?
Nurse Jenny: Just out the door and to the left. You'll walk down a road and it'll be on your right.
Maxwell: Thanks. Now I just need to train some more to get ready for this battle. I really need to find a water pokemon, too.

Maxwell turns to a young man sitting at a table and asks where he can find a water pokemon.

The boy says that there is nothing close, but says that the museum to the north of town has some prehistoric water pokemon fossils, and some geeks usually selling them.

Maxwell thanks the boy and walks to the museum. He gets up to the door and takes a deep breath in hopes that he'll be able to get a cool pokemon right away.
