Gecko enters the gym and grimmaces at the bird poop on the floor. Suddenly two little thugs come up to you.
Thug 1:Wudder ya doin hur, kid?
Gecko: Challenging the leader o' course.
Thug 2:R-r-r-reeeally? Well ain't that a hoot-hoot! Ain't nobody has come hur to challenge for a long time. *He turns towards the back of the gym where a battle field with an open roof can be seen* Faulkner, we gotta challenger!
Faulkner appears and readies for a battle, smirking.
Gecko: Well hey there Faulkner. I've been wanting to fight you for a while now.
Falkner: Then I suppose you'll be dissapointed when you lose.
Gecko: You wish. Hey boys, stick around for a while. Your leader's about to get thrashed.
Faulkner: You hold your tongue boy.
Gecko: The name's Gecko, and I'll make sure you don't forget it.

Faulkner smirks again, looking and acting very over confident.
A judge appears and begins preparing for the battle. He grabs a mic. and states the following rules....
Judge: This will be a singles-battle match with a limit of 2 pokemon each and no time limit. The battle updates will be half RPG, half stats, so description and creativity will come in handy along with move choice. Let the battle begin!
Faulkner walks to his podium and pulls out his first pokeball.
Faulkner:Okay, let's get this going. Go, Taillow! (Male Level 13)
Alice!

Gecko fingers his pokeballs nervously, the fact that this is his first real gym battle finally dawning. He began to think to himself....
Gecko: Dratini...it's got Thunderbolt, and it's pretty high-leveled compared to the rest. I think I'll save her for later. Not Nincada or Tropius, they're weak against Flying. Poliwag has Icy Wind, but it's slow compared to birds of flight. That leaves Gastly and Swablu....
Faulkner: Hey, I'm still here! Stop mumbling and just fight!
Gecko: All right! *under breath* Eeny...meeny...miney.... *aloud* I choose you, Gastly!
The ball arcs gracefully and lands in the arena, revealing Gecko's Ghost/Posion pokemon.
Gecko: Gastly, lead off with a Hypnosis attack to put Taillow to sleep. If it works, float behind it and nail it in the back with your Psywave attack! If Taillow's still awake after Hypnosis, go ethereal to dodge it's attacks, then pop up in front of it and hit it with a surprise Psywave attack.

Remember, you can't use Dratini or Nincada until you get them from the DayCare
~~~
Ghastly laughs and sneers at Tallow, and suddenly unleashes circle-like waves of hypnosis straight at Taillow.
Faulkner: My pokemon were built for speed. Moves like that will not be easy to use on us.
Taillow watchs the hypnosis carefully and at the last second uses quick attack to rises far above it. Up in the sky Taillow begins watching Ghastly, and is focusing its energy. Ghastly unleashes a psywave attack and Taillow starts barreling downward at Ghastly. The first psywave hits for minimal damage, but Taillow goes in between the last couple waves, and strikes the surprised Ghastly with a powerful wing attack. Taillow turns to use another, but Ghastly does what you said and rises high into the sky to dodge it.
Ghastly: 31/36 HP
Tallow: 35/38 HP
~~
Ghastly has a lower Base HP stat than Taillow, that's why its MAX HP is lower than Taillows despite the level, just thought I'd tell you.
Hehe, I figured this wouldn't be easy, especially with the hard time I gave you. Speaking of which, there's no "h" in Gastly. :P
~~~
Gecko: Damn it. All right Gastly, new tactic. Let's put your gaseous body to good work. Taillow's attacks are physical, so hang back and wait for it to attack you. When it does, quickly fade away and let Taillow go through you, then engulf it with your entire body and blast it from all sides with Psywave.

Yeah. This will be tough. I had super effectives on Roxanne and barely go past her... But something tells me because it was your birthday I might have you win in the long run O_O But thats just something telling me. Who knows if I can trust that something. :P
~~~~
Gastly sinks back into the stadium and awaits taillows attacks. Taillow speeds itself up with quick attack and its wings begin to glow as it readies its wing attack. As it tries to strike, Gastly vaporizes into nothingness, and Taillow almost hurts itself as it wiffs its attack. Gastly reappears with Taillow englufed in its body. Gastly uses psywave within itself, hammering Taillow hard, but because it used Psywave within itself it hit itself, doing huge super effective damage.
Gaslty: 21/36
Taillow: 29/38
Gecko: Should have seen that coming. Well, at least Taillow didn't so the damage. Proves that the little pest is beatable. Gastly, we still need to hold that thing still. Use Hypnosis while you're still enveloping it, then float back and hit it with a barrage of Psywaves. When it wakes up, dive down below the ground to avoid its attacks.
Taillow, still trapped within Gastly, uses quick attack, knowing it is innefective and that it would allow it to escape.
Faulkner: Genious.
Taillow takes off, flying as fast as it can to avoid the onslaught of Hypnosis attacks. Finally, Gastly grows frustrated of using the failing hypnosis, so it begins its barrage of psywaves. Taillow dodges them aswell, but suddenly stops. A massive psywave hits it dead on for only small damage, but suddenly a mirror-like barrier appears infront of Taillow, and from within it a purple psywave appears and barrels right back at Gaslty, doing massive damgage as it is super effective.
Faulkner: Egg move Mirror Move. It's a beautiful attack isn't it?
Gastly: 10/36
Taillow: 24/38
Gecko: Effing.... Gastly, take this Super Potion quickly, you've got to take out Taillow. Try like I said before, duck down into the floor. Cruise along through the walls and only pop out to attack, then quickly go back in. For your first attack, use Mean Look to hold it still, then hit it with Psywaves, but make sure you dodge any Mirror Moved Psywaves. Use the walls for cover!
Gaslty takes the super potion and looks at full health when suddenly Taillow swoops in and hammers Gastly for a critical hit with a surprise wing attack! Ouch!
Gastly hovers low to the ground and awaits Taillows attack. Taillow swoops down and Gastly disappears into the arena wall, and Taillow ends up batting its wings at nothing. Gastly reappears right above it and uses mean look, frightening Taillow. Gastly takes the chance to use Psywave. The attack hits dead on, but Taillow uses multiple mirror moves, sending psywave attacks right back. Gastly escapes into the wall, but one hits before it can get away completely.
Gastly: 20/36 HP
Taillow: 19/38 HP
Gecko: Hmm... Oh snap! I just remembered something. Gastly, heads up!
Gecko then proceeds to grab a TM out of his bag and toss it directly towards Gastly. Gastly turns gaseous until the TM is inside him, then materializes, absorbing the TM and letting its power course through his body.
Gecko: Forget Lick, it's not needed here! Now then, let Swablu come at you, but just before it attacks, use Mean Look to hold it in place, then quickly engulf it. Unleash your Hypnosis to put it to sleep, then float a good ways away and unleash your new attack. Thunderbolt Taillow while it sleeps!
O_o You said Swablu....
~~~~~~~~
Tallow flies straight for Gastly, using focus energy. Gastly uses mean look, which stops Taillow dead in its track, and then begins to panic as it sees the electricity coursing throghout Gastly's body.
Falkner: Quick attack Taillow! Go, go, go!
Gastly unleashes thunderbolt but Taillow is too quick, taking off at breakneck speed throughout the gym stadium. Small explosions erupt as the thunderbolts keep coming, and keep missing. Finally, however, Gastly hits Taillow for a super effective hit. Taillow falls to the ground and Gastly begins laughing. As it does so, Taillow regains composure and uses a quick attack-wing attack combo for good damage on Gastly.
Gastly is dumbfounded by the attack and forgets to use Hypnosis....
Gastly: 15/36 HP
Taillow: 10/38 HP

Hehe, Swablu. In other news, I really wish I had remembered I had another Thunderbolt TM earlier. Would have saved me some time probably.
~~~
Gecko: Gastly, fly swiftly into the walls again. Then burst out of the floorboards and use Mean Look to freeze Taillow, followed as quickly as you can with Thunderbolts. Just keep attacking to keep it at bay, and the moment you hit, keep your composure and continue hitting it with the attack until it faints.
Hm... screwed me over for Horsea....
~~~~
Taillow flies high into the sky and begins focusing its energy once more. As it does, it begins to descend, and Gastly hides within the stadium walls. When Taillow is close, Gastly appears from the wall and uses Mean Look, but because of Taillows focus it does nothing. Taillow hammers Gastly hard with wing attack for good damage.
Gastly starts to crackle with electricity once more but Falkner quickly tosses out a super potion, healing Taillow. Taillow takes off with quick attack, dodging nearly all the thunderbolts. But two consecutive attacks connect, doing huge damage. Taillow takes to the sky again and focus's its energy. Gastly does what you say and continues its onslaught of thunderbolts but as Taillow focuses its energy its quick attacks become more agile and well timed. Taillow turns on a dime and comes crashing down, dodging all thunderbolt attacks save for a few jolts, and strikes Gastly hard with wing attack that turns into a CRITICAL HIT from the focus energy.
Gastly screeches and reals back, falling to the ground, KO'd.
Gastly: 0/36 HP
Taillow: 18/38 HP
Falkner: Send out your final pokemon.

That's not the only thing I'm capable of screwing you over on. ^_^ And in any event, that was Kat's fault....
~~~
Gecko: Hmm...Gastly return! Looks like you couldn't handle its speed. Ah well, Dratini's pretty fast as well. Dratini, I choose you! Wait for Taillow to attack you, then blast it with Thunder Wave. That oughta slow it down. Lunge for and Wrap Taillow after its paralysed, then use Thunderbolt while holding tight to inflict massive damage. You can do it!
Don't worrrrry :P I already promised you a win here for your birthday ^___^ I'm just not going to make it as easy as you want. Don't screw me over, I'll be a good boy. *acts like a lil' angel* ... O_o
~~~~~
Dratini appears and Falkner's face seems to drop a little.
Falkner: A...a dragon pokemon? I, I wasn't expecting anything like that... Fine, let's go Taillow. Show 'em how its done.
Dratini holds its ground and awaits Taillows attack. Taillow speeds up with quick attack and dives down for a wing attack but is struck with a thunderwave before it can react. The bird pokemon tumbles to the ground, paralyzed, and squawks in pain. Dratini rushes to it and begins wrapping it. Taillow struggles, but can do nothing but try and bite Dratini with its sharp beak. Dratini feels the annoying pecking and blasts Taillow with a wrapping-thunderbolt, putting it on the edge of fainting.
FINISH TAILLOW!
Taillow: 1/38 HP
Dratini: 42/43 HP

Considering the win would be with Dratini, I think there's an irony in there somewhere. T1K gave me this Dratini for my birthday a year ago.
~~~
Gecko: Well, now that Mirror Move doesn't matter anymore, we can finish this anooying bird with your signature move. Dratini, hit it with Dragon Breath right in the face!
Taillow struggles and tries to muster a mirror move, but can't as the dragon breath KO's it!
Falkner: Fine. That was well done. I didn't think I'd even have to use my second pokemon. This pokemon is new to my roster, but extremely power. Go, Skarmory! (Male, Level 15)
Alice!
June 10th, 2006, 03:14 PM
Gecko gazes up in awe at the Skarmory.
Gecko: Amazing. The Steel type has such grace...not to mention being incredibly powerful. Regardless, I've got a battle to win. Dratini, let's go! Forget Wrapping this thing, it's too sharp. Watch it carefully; if it swoops down, hit it with a Thunder Wave followed by a quick Dragon Breath. If it uses a distance attack, dodge and start throwing Thunderbolts at it. Let's take down this bird!
Skarmory stays high in the air and eyes Dratini visciously as it cries out its name. Suddenly Skarmory's wings begin to glow and it unleashes an unavoidable swift attack. Dratinit takes the brunt of the star shaped rays but unleashes thunderbolt, destroying the rest of them. Dratini then turns and unleashes thunderbolts all throughout the room, hitting Skarmory hard for multiple super effective hits.
Gecko: Damn, a Swift attack. Dratini, I think it'll be keeping its distance and pummeling us from far away. Luckily, it's not as fast or as small as Taillow was. Keep moving, and throw Thunder Waves up until one of them connects. If you see its wings start glowing, unleash your Dragon Breath and try to knock the stars out of the air and connect with Skarmory as well. If we paralyse this thing, it might be forced to come down to the ground.
Skarmory flies high into the sky and sends down a shower of swift attacks, hitting Dratini for small chunks of damage. Dratini uses thunderbolt to knock away the stary-beams and then focuses on hitting Skarm. Skarm is quicker then you think and swoops down to try and nail Dratini. But the slender dragon pokemon dodges and uses dragonbreath, it does only small damage but sure enough Skarmory becomes paralyzed.
Gecko: Perfection. Dratini, you've gotta strike while the iron's hot! Get at Skarmory as quick as you can and Wrap around its neck. The feathers there shouldn't be as sharp as its wings, but be careful not to cut yourself. If you can get around its neck, use Thunderbolt on its head and neck to try to inflict massive damage. If it looks too dangerous to use Wrap, then hit it with Thundershock at close range, and try to aim at the head.
Dratini prepares to wrap but Skarmory holds it back with a barrier of swift attacks. Suddenly Skarmory is over come with paralysis and Dratini makes its move, striking the bird hard with multiple thunderbolts. Skarmory keels over as it takes a CRITICAL HIT!
Suddenly theres a flash of golden light and Skarmory squawk in happiness! Out if its mouth it drops a little green stem and then it takes off into the sky.
Faulkner: Oooh. I forgot I gave it that cherriberry to hold on to!
Skarmory swoops back down and uses sand attack to blind Dratini and then lays a hard peck. But dratini uses its sense and is able to hit Skarmory with dragon breath as it whizzes by.
Level Up +1 For Gastly (for effort...) and Level Up +2 For Dratini
The judge raised his flags, and signaled the end of the battle.
Judge: That's it! Skarmory is unable to battle. The win goes to challenger, Gecko!
Faulkner: I...how? What? I don't believe it. You battled spectacularly! Congratulations, Gecko. You deserve this.
Zephyr Badge Obtained!
Faulkner: The way you battle... its miraculous. You care so much for your pokemon... I- I haven't seen someone look at a Skarmory like that since the day I found my own. I think I have something for you that you will like...
...
...
*he returns*
Faulkner: Here, take this.
*He hands you a pokeball with the Zephyr symbol engraved into it*
Faulkner: A long while back my Skarmory, right after I obtained it, brought home an egg, obviously one of his own. I followed him and found a massive nest, his former home. I found pieces of scrap metal on the ground, and part of a beak. His mate had been killed by some kind of pokemon... So, I took the egg, and I raised it. It hatched into a baby Skarmory and I've trained with it since. But it needs a new trainer. It needs to go on a journey and see the world. Please, Gecko, take this pokemon in memory of our battle today.
Skarmory Obtained! Male- Level 8
Faulkner: Good bye trainer.
