Ok, I love Pro Evo. Easily the best football game on PS2 - nay, ANY games console. But, it does have it's minor faults. Mainly, the AI. The AI is fine when it's the opposing team, but when it's my players it's dumb as hell.

I'm talking opposing players being able to run in a straight line from the halfway line without being closed down (and my feeble excuses to select a defender in order to chop him down only let me select a striker/midfielder, BEHIND the player. Blah.).

I'm talking over-complication of passes. The majority of passes on Pro Evo are attempted million-dollar passes. Instead of a simple through ball to the winger, the AI decides to attempt an impossible through ball past a horde of defenders. Dubm.

The worst thing though, I have to say, is when the ball is going out of play. It's your throw in, and it'd be easier to let the ball go out of play. But no. I have NEVER found a way in which to stop my player knocking the ball out of play. I've tried R2, R1, pressing nothing...all of the time, my player knocks it out of play. Very, VERY annoying.

Don't get me wrong guys, it's an AWESOME game.

This one I'll certainly agree with. It's nothing more than a minor glitch, but can get very irritating at times. Yeah there are a few holes in the AI, and the commentary is bad. Overall though I forgive Konami for these oversights, mainly because the series is still the best set of games on the PS2 by a long shot.

I used to have the same problem when the ball is going out but not any more. Just do this: hod R1 and R2 at the same time and make the player go to the opposite direction using the left analog stick.
But the commentaries are very stupid!

...well, after picking up Pro Evo 5 today for £15 (the above comments were about Pro Evo 4), I guess I should adjust my comments.

The AI seems a lot better, and I LOVE the amount of editing features for each players (trust me, I ADORE editing stuff in games. I spend half of my time playing the SmackDown! series in the Create modes), even if they did take out my beloved black and yellow F50 boots. :(

As for the controls, I can see it's going to take me a while to get used to the, uh, 'slippery' controls. It feels much more fluid, despite the fact that I'm useless at the moment.

Anyway, I've got a couple of questions. My rant is pretty much over, so if the mods want to chuck this over to the Soccer sub-forum I'm sure I can find it again.

Firstly, how do the goal celebrations work? Are they two seperate celebrations, or is one supposed to follow the other?

Um, yeah, I found the answer to the other question...

I have no idea about the goal celebrations. I've never edited things over than the odd name so don't know about that.

I'll put this over in the Soccer sub forum for you.

don't piss in my pool

as far as i know, it just gives you 2 different trademark celebrations, out of which one will normally be used when you score

I just wondered if they could be combined, as some of them have a running motion with no 'finale' on the end.

Oh well, thanks guys.

btw, the unlockable hairstyles this year are excellent. :link:

The hairstyles are AWESOME. It looks so funny on the field.

I gotta say, I really dont understand why some players do a stepover when getting the ball RIGHT next to the sideline. That seriously annoys me.
