*Chirp* *Chirp*

You wake up to the sound of the birds and look at your alarm clock. 10:00?!?! You forgot to set your alarm and now you're gonna be late. You quickly throw clothes on and run outside. You see a crowd of people walking away from a house down the block. You run pass the crowd into the house.

You: Professor!! Can I have my Pokemon?

Professor: Hmmm... I do have one left... ok, you can have it...

You: Yes!! Thank you so much Professor!!

You take your Pokemon and run outside in excitement. You bump into another trainer.

Steve: It's about time you showed up. And judging by your Pokemon, the Professor didn't have anything else...

You: Don't talk about my Pokemon like that!!

Steve: Make me. Go, Heracross Lv. 5!!

You send out your Pokemon, ready to battle. Make your move.

((Your standard starting format works less well when someone starts with more than one Pokemon, but I get the idea.)):cool:

"All right then, Go Houndour! Lead off with a leer to shock our opponent!"

Alice!
February 19th, 2006, 11:59 PM
Well, I'm gonna have some incredibly contrived plot element for all three of you guys. For now, just pretend you only have Houndoor.

~~~
Houndoor leads off with a Leer, which startles Heracross. WHen Houndoor doesn't take the offense, however, Heracross is able to run in and hit with Tackle.
Tayledras
February 23rd, 2006, 01:02 PM
((Can do.))
"All right Houndour, use Leer again. Don't attack immediatly though, once it starts to attack surprise it with an Ember attack!"
Alice!
February 23rd, 2006, 04:25 PM
Heracross charges as Houndoor uses Leer. Heracross trips and lands at Houndoors feet. Houndoor hits Heracross with Ember, causing a burn. Heracross gets up and weakly Tackles Houndoor.
Tayledras
February 24th, 2006, 09:18 AM
"Quick, jump to the left to avoid the tackle and hit it with a strong ember!"
Alice!
February 24th, 2006, 10:18 AM
Houndoor jumps, dodging Heracross, and hits it with Ember. Heracross Tackles Houndoor in the side and flips it head over heels using its horn. Heracross then jumps/flys up into a tree. Steve throws something to Heracross.
Tayledras
February 24th, 2006, 11:38 PM
"Aack! I forgot my potions! Oh well, lets make it even then! Houndour, Blast that whatever-it-is down before it gets to Heracross, but make sure not to set the tree on fire." ;)
Alice!
February 25th, 2006, 01:34 AM
Houndoor tries to drop the item before it can get to Heracross, but it gets there. Heracross jumps out of tree, its burn healed and lands on Houndoor, doing decent damage.
Tayledras
February 26th, 2006, 03:01 PM
"Houndour, twist around and use ember to back off Heracross! Then follow it up close and blast it again!"
Alice!
February 26th, 2006, 05:10 PM
Houndoor hits Heracross with Ember from close range, doing decent damage. Heracross stumbles back, and as Houndoor tries to use Ember again, Heracross jumps up into the air and spreads it wings, flying just out of range of Ember.
Tayledras
February 26th, 2006, 07:11 PM
I look at Steve quickly;
"What's the matter, scared?"
---
"Don't let it get the drop on you Houndour, keep it moving with repeated Ember shots!"
Alice!
February 27th, 2006, 03:14 PM
Heracross flys up as Houndour uses Ember. Houndoor keeps following it until it stares into the sun. Houndoor looks down, distracted, and Heracross dive-bombs it. Luckily, Houndoor heard Heracross coming and rolled out of the way, managing to avoid most of the Tackle. Houndoor then hits Heracross with Ember, doing quite a bit of damage.
Tayledras
February 28th, 2006, 01:09 PM
"Blast it with another ember! And be careful, if it dodges into the air again, take cover underneath a low branch and keep it at bay with more Embers."
Alice!
February 28th, 2006, 04:09 PM
Houndoor hits Heracross with Ember as it jumps forward. Heracross is hit, but keeps going and intentionally lands on Houndoor. Heracross stays on top of Houndoor and pins it down.
Tayledras
March 2nd, 2006, 11:39 AM
"Turn your head and breath fire directly into its eyes! Burn out its eyes if it won't let you go!"
Alice!
March 2nd, 2006, 01:55 PM
Houndoor tries to turn, but Heracross is too heavy. Houndoor uses Ember anyway, doing light damage to itself and hreavy damage to Heracross. Heracross jumps up and flies into a tree.
Tayledras
March 2nd, 2006, 03:33 PM
"Back away from the tree, keep an eye on Heracross though. Howl to unnerve Heracross and raise your attack at the same time."
Alice!
March 2nd, 2006, 10:40 PM
Houndoor back up and Howls at Heracross. Heracross takes to the sky and starts lazily circling Houndoor, like a vulture ready to go in for the kill.
Tayledras
March 3rd, 2006, 12:01 PM
I watch the timing of the circling, trying to predict its movements. As soon as I have it I order Houndour to blast right in front of it, like so:
---
"Fire off an ember directly in its path of flight, Houndour!"
---
Also, if it starts to move in to attack in response to that ember, I yell:
---
"Leap to the left to dodge it and fire off an ember straight at it!"
Alice!
March 3rd, 2006, 04:07 PM
You have the timing down, but Houndoor is a bit fuzzier. Heracross easily dodges the first Ember by rising a little bit, then suddenly darts down sporradically. Houndoor panics and jumps, but Heracross lands in a belly-flop and hits it anyway, then flys off into a tree again. Houndoor, luckily, hit Heracross with Ember as it was retreating.
Tayledras
March 4th, 2006, 09:08 AM
(Grr. I know that it does have wings, but I'm getting a little irked at the bug/fighting pokemon flying lazy circles about my pokemon. Oh well.)
"Houndour, pull back away from the tree. Keep an eye out for Heracross, when you see it leave the tree, unleash an extra-strong Ember at it."
Alice!
March 6th, 2006, 04:51 PM
Houndoor shoots Ember at Heracross as it flies out, hitting it for a critical hit and burning it. Heracross spins out of control and crashes at your feet. You jump back and dodge, almost getting squished. Heracross is panting, and looks very weak.
Finish Heracross
Tayledras
March 6th, 2006, 06:07 PM
(Aww. You made it sound so pitiful I don't want to hurt it!)
"Hey kid! Call back your pokemon, this battle is over and I don't want to have to hurt it."
Alice!
March 6th, 2006, 09:12 PM
Steve: Like hell I will! C'mon Heracross you bum! Get up and fight!
Heracross weakly tries to Tackle Houndoor, but falls far short and lands on the ground.
Finish Heracross
Tayledras
March 7th, 2006, 10:03 AM
:argue:
"Hmph. You aren't worthy of having a pokemon as dedicated as this. You're lucky I don't roast you and take it to the Professor to take care of! But if you insist on having me injure your poor Heracross, then fine. Houndour! Finish it off with an extra strong Ember!"
(Note, since I am near Heracross, I make sure that I'm OUT of the line of fire.)
Alice!
March 7th, 2006, 10:50 AM
Houndoor hits Heracross with one last Ember, knocking it out.
Steve: Oh, 'mon Heracross. You're so useless. And as for you.... I'll get you someday. *runs off*
When Steve ran off, he left behind $200. Whoops. His loss = your gain.
Level up for Houndoor + $200
A: Go see the prof
S: Go see your mum
D: Leave town
Tayledras
March 9th, 2006, 09:29 AM
"Great job Houndour!"
I pet houndour on the head before recalling him. (BTW, when and how do I get the rest of my pokemon?)
"I think I'll go talk to the Professor."
Alice!
March 9th, 2006, 11:48 AM
An incredibly contrived plot element. Just look at Mainecoon and Julia's dexes. They're already there.
~~~

You go to see the prof, but he is surrounded by his assistants.

Tayledras
March 11th, 2006, 11:47 AM
I walk closer, looking to see what all the fuss is about.

Alice!
March 11th, 2006, 02:40 PM
You see that the prof is holding up and excitedly talking about something.

Prof: And this is my latest discovery! If a trainer carries this around, I believe that the close proximity to pokemon will cause this to react, giving us a greater insight to the world of pokemon than ever before! I was going to give it to our best and most porminent young trainer. Has anyone seen Steve? He should have been here by now.

Tayledras
March 11th, 2006, 09:03 PM
"WHAT! You were going to give that to Steve? He nearly worked his poor Heracross to death trying to beat me!"

Alice!
March 12th, 2006, 04:18 PM
Prof: Well, he was our best trainer, and had the best chance of initiating the reaction. Do you think you would do better?

Tayledras
March 14th, 2006, 10:08 AM
"I don't even know what you're talking about, but if it's pokemon related, then yeah. And for your information, he's not all that great of a trainer, my Houndour and I just kicked his bum."

Alice!
March 14th, 2006, 02:36 PM
Prof: Well then, I gues you'll do just fine. Here. Take this pokemon egg for me. Obtained Prof's Egg. I believe that keeping it near a strong trainer will cause it to react and hatch. When it does, give me a call from a pokemon center.

Tayledras
March 15th, 2006, 05:38 PM
"Alright."
I place the egg in a padded place within my pack, then head out of town in a random direction.

Alice!
March 15th, 2006, 10:50 PM
You go west! The only way there is. 'Cause you don't have Surf.

A: Find trainers
S: Find wild pokemon

Tayledras
March 16th, 2006, 10:23 AM
S:
"I wonder what kinds of pokemon live around here?"

Alice!
March 16th, 2006, 10:31 AM
You wander about for a bit. Then you wander more. Than its nighttime. You aer about to go to sleep when you notice a slight rustling on the edge of the forest.

A: Investigate?

Tayledras
March 16th, 2006, 12:19 PM
A: of course. Not like I had a given option ;)

"What the heck?"

Alice!
March 16th, 2006, 03:35 PM
You investigate and see a nest of Spinarak getting up for the night. They all go off in different directions, except for one who looks like its staying back to guard the nest.

Tayledras
March 17th, 2006, 05:03 PM
"Cool."
---
((Contrived plot device, or do I just have them now? Just curious.))

I walk into sight of the Spinarak and sit down.
"Hey there little dude, guarding the fort for the buddies?"

Alice!
March 18th, 2006, 03:56 PM
The Spinarak moves slightly to the side. You see a stash of five pokeballs, all with the occupied light on, in the nest. The Spinarak stands up edge, seemingly about to attack you. It looks like you could run in and grab at least two of them before it could get to you.

Tayledras
March 18th, 2006, 10:26 PM
"Whoa, there, little guy. I don't want to hurt you."
I stand back and hold my hands within sight. (My left hand near enough to Houndour's pokeball to call him out if the Spinarak tries to jump me.
"What's in those pokeballs, little guy? Are they friends of yours?"
I wait for a reaction from the Spinarak before doing anything, if it DOES attack, I'll quickly call out Houndour to defend myself.

Alice!
March 19th, 2006, 10:15 PM
Spinarak bristles as you get closer to the balls, but doesn't attack you yet. It gets more and more agitated as you reach for the balls.

Tayledras
March 20th, 2006, 09:23 AM
I wait for a reaction from the Spinarak before doing anything

(I was specifically stating that I DIDN'T want to reach towards the balls yet, trying not to agitate it.)

Alice!
March 20th, 2006, 04:29 PM
In that case you sit there for an hour and a half without moving. Neither does Spinarak. You get cramps.

Tayledras
March 20th, 2006, 08:10 PM
Hrrm. Fine. Before ten minutes is up, I reach towards the pokeballs, if it reacts hostile-like, I jump back and call out Houndour.

Alice!
March 20th, 2006, 09:50 PM
You reach forward, and Spinarak lunges! You snatch one of the balls and fall backwards, Houndoor's ball rolling off out of your reach. Spinarak advances.

Tayledras
March 21st, 2006, 11:07 AM
"Crud!"
I look at the Pokeball in my hand and say:
"Guess this's up to you little dude, hope you can help!"
With this I leap back and send out the pokemon.

(Poke-roulette?)

Alice!
March 21st, 2006, 01:34 PM
Something like that. To the randomizer!

~~~
A Tyrouge pops out and looks at you like it knew you from somewhere before. It seems ready to fight for you.
Tayledras
March 21st, 2006, 02:17 PM
I point my pokedex at it to find out what it can do.
"Sweet, it has mach punch!"
"Alright dude, let's go! Speed around behind the Spinarak and knock it flying with a quick punch!"
Alice!
March 21st, 2006, 09:32 PM
Spinarak shoots a string of sticky goo at Tyrouge, but misses by a couple feet. Tyrouge runs behind Spinarak and slams its foot into the ground, pivoting and giving it a starting block to kick itself off of to punch Spinarak with. It proceeds to do so.
Tayledras
March 22nd, 2006, 08:55 AM
"Nicely done! Alright, while it's reeling from the first hit, speed around behind it again for another punch, then tackle it to the ground!"
Alice!
March 22nd, 2006, 09:20 PM
Tyrouge hits Spinarak with another punch from behind, but this time Spinarak fires a String Shot out of its back end, right into Tyrouge's face. Tyrouge stumbles back blindly, and Spinarak hits it with Poison Sting for a little damage.
Tayledras
March 23rd, 2006, 10:00 AM
"Grab the string and try to pull it off your face, then yank on it hard to jerk Spinarak into your punch!"
(I call this the Yo-Yo manuever.:bow:)
Alice!
March 23rd, 2006, 11:30 PM
Tyrouge grabs and yanks Spinarak's thread. Spinarak snaps the thread by clenching its butt pincer thingys when it starts to move. Tyrouge trys to punch Spinarak anyway, but he dodges the attack easily and hits Tyrouge with Poison Sting again.
Tayledras
March 24th, 2006, 12:01 PM
(Darn.)
"Keep the speed up Tyrogue, Dash in circles around it to confuse it, then smash it with a strong punch!"
Alice!
March 27th, 2006, 10:46 AM
Turouge runs around, and the Striung Shot soon comes off. Spinarak shoots another one which catches Tyrouge in the leg, slowing it down. Tyrouge lunges at Spinarak with a punch as it uses Poison Sting. Both attacks connect for decent damage.
Tayledras
March 27th, 2006, 02:46 PM
"Alright Tyrogue, every time the Spinarak tries a string shot, dodge behind something, the run up really fast and punch it in the thorax!"
Alice!
March 27th, 2006, 11:29 PM
Tyrouge dodges behind a rock as Spinarak blasts a String Shot at it. The shot hits the rock, and Spinarak first looks dismayed, but then its eyes light up. Spinarak withdraws the Shot and starts spinning the rock around. The rock slams down where Tyrouge was the moment before he dodged. Tyrouge stares at Spinarak as it menacingly starts swinging the rock.
Tayledras
March 28th, 2006, 02:22 PM
(Darn strong little spider. Cool.)
"Alright Tyrogue, pick up a sturdy looking stick and wait for him to swing the rock at you. Knock it back at him as hard as you can! Then rush him with a barrage of fast punches."
Alice!
March 28th, 2006, 03:53 PM
Tyrouge gets ready to play a little baseball. The rock comes flying at the side of his head, and he hits it with the bat as hard as he can. Simultaneously, the stik snaps, the rock flies back, Spinarak snaps the string, and Tyrouge goes flying backwards. The rock hits Spinarak, Tyrouge hits a rock, and everyone has a headache now!
Tayledras
March 28th, 2006, 09:05 PM
"Shake it off little dude, strike out fast before it has a chance to recuperate. Mach punch it back into a tree, and pin it against the tree with rapid fire tackles and punches. Make sure it's legs are forward so that it can't just climb up the tree."
Alice!
March 29th, 2006, 11:23 AM
Tyrouge runs forward and starts beating the living tar out of Spinarak without letting it get away or attack. Spinarak finally maneuvers into a position that it can hit Tyrouge with Poison Sting. It proceeds to do so, and Tyrouge falls back, poisoned. Spinarak climbs a tree!
Tayledras
March 29th, 2006, 04:57 PM
I run over to where Houndour's pokeball fell and pick it up, then make my way towards the other pile. I look to see if there is any medicine in the pile then yell:
"Pull back from the tree Tyrogue! Be careful of any projectiles from in the branches!"
Speaking of which, I make sure to be careful of the same as I get my pokeball back.
Alice!
March 30th, 2006, 10:22 AM
You find two antidotes and a potion. Huzzah!
Tyrouge ducks for cover behind a bush, dodging two Poison Sting attacks as it goes. There is then an eery silence as each combatant waits for the other to make its move.
Tayledras
March 30th, 2006, 12:06 PM
I quickly administer an antidote to Tyrogue, then whisper to him;
"Good job, now let's trick him. Pick up two rocks, and throw one out to the left away from the bush, wait just a second for him to react, and then throw the other rock out on the right, hopefully he'll be a little confused. Then run straight towards the tree, jump up to him and knock him outa the tree!"
I step back from Tyrogue
"Let's go!"
I then look to the left, as if expecting something.
(tricky, ain't I?)
Alice!
March 30th, 2006, 01:03 PM
Tyrouge does his rock trick, and Poison Stings fly out of tree, hitting both rocks right in the middle. Tyrouge runs and jups up, and at the same time Spinarak swings down Tarzan style on a String Shot. The two pokemon collide in mid-air. Spinarak had more velocity, Tyrouge had more mass, and because KE = MV2, Tyrouge takes slightly more damage. In any event, Spinarak hits the tree and Tyrouge hits the ground. Both are starting to look weak.
Tayledras
March 30th, 2006, 03:27 PM
I administer a potion to the Tyrogue.
*ba-beoup!*
"Rush up and turn that bug into a punching bag! Keep hitting it while it's disoriented and then change direction for the next attack, never let it fix on a target."
Alice!
April 3rd, 2006, 10:31 AM
Tyrouge jumps up and beat smacks the hell out of Spinarak, who succumbs to Tyrouge's blows. Spinarak, therefore, flies backward into that tree again.
Finish Spinarak
Tayledras
April 3rd, 2006, 10:18 PM
"Turn that Spinarak into a speed bag! Rapid fire Mach punches to the face (The actual one, not the one painted on it's back.)"
Alice!
April 3rd, 2006, 10:21 PM
Tyrouge proceeds to beat not only the living hell, but the dead hell and the undead hell out of Spinarak, who promptly faints. It must have been allergic to pain.
Level up for Tyrouge
Catch the bugger?
Tayledras
April 4th, 2006, 09:33 AM
"Hmm. Poor little guy was just trying to protect his nest. I'll leave him alone."
I walk over and pick up the rest of the pokeballs, then check for what they each contain.
"Wow. I wonder what kind of jerk would leave all these great pokemon just sitting here. Well, whoever he is, he doesn't deserve them."
Alice!
April 6th, 2006, 12:12 AM
Shebam! You know damn well what you got, and I can't be bothered to put it all in. Incidentally, there was $200 under the balls.
Pokemon + $200 obtained!
Tayledras
April 6th, 2006, 08:54 AM
((YAY!))
"Wow, this must be my lucky day."
I look for some shiny things
(I'll be on hiatus for about two weeks, I've got spring break)
Alice!
April 17th, 2006, 03:54 PM
Heh, it's almost like I would have no way of knowing that if you didn't tell me!
~~~

You wander off, and are soon consumed by an incredibly strong desire to sleep. So you do. You wake up the next morning and find yourself in a field.

Tayledras
April 24th, 2006, 10:51 AM
"Darned invisible Jigglypuff/Abra crossbreeds. Oh well, one place is as good as another, so long as it has pokemon!"
I look around for anything of notable interest.

Alice!
April 24th, 2006, 09:40 PM
You see two things of notable interest, both of which are paths.

A: Left
S: Right

Tayledras
April 25th, 2006, 03:28 PM
A.
"Hooray for the direction; left!"

Alice!
April 26th, 2006, 10:58 AM
You turn left. You walk. You walk more. You continue to walk. You end up in a field. There is rustling in the tall grass. Investigate? Yuo probably will.

A: Check it out.
S: Run away!

Tayledras
April 27th, 2006, 08:29 AM
A
"Hmm? What's this?"

Alice!
April 28th, 2006, 09:06 AM
A small red pokemon with two leaves on its head pops out of the bushes and stares at you. It seems docile enough.
