View Full Version : Chip and Card Tricks, Yo!

Alright, I know that Tom can shuffle a whole assload of chips, and so can Tran.
My chip tricks so far:
- I can shuffle up to like 20 total chips (10 on each side), but 14, 16, 18, and 20 I'm not great at yet. I can do them, but I have to do it slow. I do 10 and 12 regularly, when I'm playing poker on the computer or whatever I do that pretty much non-stop.
- The Chip-Flip. That's when you have a few chips in your hand and use your thumb to flip the front one to the back.
- And my favorite/best one. The Chip-Twirl. That's when you hold three in your hand, split out the middle one, spin it on your finger, and slip it back in the middle. I can do it perfectly with my right hand, and am teaching my left hand to do it, and I'm close!
My card tricks: (Not talking about magic tricks here.)
- I can do TWO seperate one handed card cuts. One called a "drop" cut, where half the deck drops and you slip it under the other one. And another that I created myself that's quite hard to do.
- I can do the bridge shuffle (who can't, right?)
- And I can do the dealer shuffle. Where you leave it on the table so that no one watching can see the cards.
- I can do the fan, where you spread out the cards in your hand.
- And I can do several table spreads, including spreading them across the table and flipping them beginning to end.
I pretty much grew up with a deck of cards in my hand, so I've been doing those forever. But the chip tricks are new and there's so many I want to learn.
Can you guys do any of those or any others?

I can hardly even shuffle a deck of cards. My mates are always telling me to "hurry the **** up" and suchlike. I don't mind though- I just take their money off them. I think the fact that all our playing cards are old and worn may have something to do with it. It's true what they say about us Scots though- we're tight-fisted- no-one can bear parting with a couple of pounds for a new deck of cards.

I'm pretty good at whipping cards around.
More often I am just doing pen spinning stuff though.

I'm content with chip shuffling and card shuffling. I may get around to the twirl when I have nothing else to do. I use the chip shuffling as a way to keep myself from spacing out constantly.

with chips I can shuffle up to 10 chips, but I have to go slow. I usually use 6 on a side, which I do pretty much constantly. I have to keep my hands busy when I'm bored. It keeps my a.d.d happy. I can flip alright, but I can't get the twirl down. I may find a tutorial or somthing.
With cards, I can cut the deck one handed, where I take the top half and spin it around and put it underneath the bottom half.

It's in the classification of "flourish", a card manipulation trick. And it took me a couple of days to actually get from when I started trying. But it's SOOOO badass!

I giggle like a schoolgirl at times at the table. People ask what is so funny but I refuse to tell and just laugh harder. It really freaks people out.
As to tricks though... I've got a couple; shuffling chips, running chips across the top of my hand flipping from finger to finger (not sure how else to describe), um... fun stuff.
We still need a live GWPS table to get this really going :)
"Alec, how are you so good with your hands!?!?!"
"Same way I'm good with my throat"

Groovy thread-discovery.
I love the odd chiptrick or two. I know a few, but I'm not at the level of poki-master just yet. I can do the chipflip, a sketchy chip shuffle, and the finger-roll. I don't think anyone's mentioned the finger roll yet, if you don't know it's when you take a single chip, flip it over every finger (at the base of the fingers, close to the knuckles) and once it turns over your little finger, your thumb catches the chip and moves it back to the starting position in front of the index finger. Repeat until your turn to act.
When The Cole mentioned the dealer shuffle, when nobody can see any of the cards, which one's that? I can proudly do a wave shuffle, even without a table. That's when you riffle the cards in a lengthways position (so the short top edge of each pile contacts), but before you push the interlaced piles together, you push the middle of the base upwards to arch the cards in a lower case n. With the right amount of pressure, the cards elagantly fall in a second riffle. I'm house dealer a lot.
